Prerequisites to Ecstasy: A No-Nonsense Guide to What It Really Takes to Create the Love and Sex We Say We Want

Rate this book
Our problems are the same. Couples are stuck in the same bad patterns. Individuals are stuck in the same bad habits that keep sabotaging their joy and expression. The obstacles that people are facing in creating a rich erotic life are the same bunch of obstacles. Just as the foundational information around what causes a bridge to stand or to collapse does not change from bridge to bridge, the foundational information about what makes partnerships thrive or fail does not vary wildly from partnership to partnership. Human nature has structure. Human eros has structure. And the glitches and the weaknesses and the misperceptions that keep tripping us up are the same ones across the population. This book is my attempt to articulate and organize these universal conversations regarding our emotional, relational and erotic lives. --- Om Rupani

Heard about Rupani through Kelly Brogan and had to check out his book. I grew up around/was raised by a lot of alpha women (and consequently submissive men), which is why I was drawn to Rupani’s work.

I was surprised at how romantic, poetic, and encouraging this book was. I connected a lot of what Rupani writes to all areas of life, not just in romantic relationships. So many great thoughts on life, true ecstasy, and fulfillment. Create an interesting life and people will be attracted to that. Open yourself to all life has to offer. Do not be afraid. Feel it all. So many important gems here!

Kelly Brogan brought me here. Reading Om Rupani is as fresh as being b*itch slapped with a clean moisty palm, and you don't need to have a kink to enjoy it.

Written in 2017, and I would say it is and will be more actual than ever. Surprisingly a better self-help book than what you will find on the shelves, regardless of if you like having a leather bound lesson or not.

I give 4 stars because I know Rupani has more steam to offer, and even less bullshit. More egos to crush, more punishing with flair, more dropkicking to next Tuesday. More chapters with delicate or rough ass whipping for the ladies would have been needed, to rinse out the cock-blocking attitudes carried by a majority of the females. And more humiliating step-by-step instructions for men, in style of "Man offers X to woman. Woman likes man for offering X, Man wins because woman is happy with what he gave her" so that there are no bullshit excuses to dismiss our duties.

A read that is difficult to regret.

Required reading for awakening in this physical world

Read the words above.

Om, in the most eloquent, fun, succinct, and unabashed way, reviles the truth that which the deeper I stands in. Our paths to the awakened state are varied and the union of the body and spirit is a complete awakening. He continues to explain that this is challenging, messy, and worth It. The path, in our society, is a one of taboo, shame, and devoid of rights of passage and sage like mentorship. Om’s written truth is a wonderful unfolding that through the opening of ones heart to meaningful connection and awareness in presence, touch, and ecstasy one ultimately wakes up.

Plain language, liberating and plenty of points of debate - with an unexpected spiritual element. Not for everyone but the part that was the most moving is maybe the explanation of the productive function of heartbreak in our lives, and humility and accepting humanity both corporeal and spiritual, is an integral part of the great human lived life.

Profound

This book is not about sex as much as it’s about the philosophy of sex or at least a certain approach to it. Agree with this philosophy or not, it’s a profound read and at the same time doesn’t feel heavy or serious. It’s raw and real.

One of the best relationship books ever, so far as I can tell. It's a minimum of hogwash and a maximum of actionable advice and strategies for ways of thinking about relationships that will keep them alive and vibrant.

Simply incredible. One of those books I say "I could eat it, I love it so!"

loved it!

I loved this book. It was thoughtful, well-written, and provoked much to contemplate. My husband enjoyed reading this as well.
