5 - "We live in violent times, sweetheart..." Stars!

Rebecca Zanetti ups the ante with the fifth book in the Scorpius Syndrome series; Winter Igniting gives readers a deeper look into the group of people living under Pastor Zachary King in The Pure Church as well as move things along with the whole President Bret Atherton situation, and the rest of the underground bunkers that both he and the Vanguard Mercenaries are looking for.

"If you can find some romance and excitement in this crappy world, w

In the Fifth installment of The Scorpius Syndrome we get Damon and April's story. It's time for us to find out what's going on with the Pure church and these two are the key to exposing them. Neither one have been infected by the Scorpius bacteria and are being recruited by Pastor King.

Jax sees this as their chance to make sure the women and children are not being held against their will. It is up to April and Damon to pretend to be interested in joining their church so they can get inside and

In Winter Igniting the Mercs and Vanguards have merged at the Vanguard compound out of necessity.  You could feel the tension and lack of trust between them.  It was interesting seeing how things played out.  Meanwhile, the questions surrounding Pastor King and his group of Pures living within the compound continues to raise concerns and in this episode, we find out more.

April Snyder has lost everything to the Scoripus Syndrome. She works with the children within the compound and is one of only

I never thought I’d say that I would be happy to be back in Los Angeles after the apocalypse in which 99% of the human populations is destroyed by a virus from space. But since it is the world of the Scorpius Syndrome, I am excited to see where the author is taking us next.

This series is purely and simply about survival. The Scorpius virus decimates the human population, but people still manage to survive. Those that have overcome the virus, may or may not have certain enhancements in strength

“This was crazy. Even in a world already gone to insanity.”

5 HUGE STARS!

I freaking LOVE this series. Every book is an adventure with romance that sucks me in and makes me feel everything, and I relish every opportunity that I get to step back into Rebecca Zanetti’s post-apocalyptic world. And now we get the story of two series favourites, Damon and April, and it was every bit as amazing as I was hoping.

Firstly, I would also recommend that you don’t read this book as a standalone. The books are

I loved this book. April and Damon were everything I had hoped for. So much happens story wise in this book not only with Damon and April but with the president, and the cult and other charters. This book is really chocked full and we also get some resolution. I loved that Lena was in this book I really thought her story would resolve in this book but I'm ok waiting as long as it does. This series is so amazing, this is one of those series you are just so happy you found. I hate that I have to w ...more

I love this series. It has everything I need.

A well-crafted apocalyptic/dystopian world. Alpha men that take charge who are ruthless and will do anything to protect their women. An awesome plot which is fast paced and action packed which is never disappointing. Totally kickarse heroines who know what they want and what they have to do to see their HEA where the world is going to hell.

This series just ticks all my boxes.

Goodness, Winter Igniting had a lot going on. Vanguard and the Mercenaries are now all in one place since the mercenaries got burned out. Tensions are high as the former adversaries figure out how this is going to work or if it will even work at all. While this is happening, there are still other battles to fight, other injuries to deal with, along with intrigue, betrayal, and figuring out a way to survive what seems like unsurvivable times. And then you have the two people who have no interest ...more

Winter Igniting was - if possible - even more tense the the earlier books in this series! I loved Damon and April. Even if she got a little bit on my nerves at times.

ARC REVIEW

Scorpius Syndrome #5, Waiting for Damon's book has been like waiting for that one piece of chocolate you reward yourself with after waiting for what seems like forever and when you finally get it and it's so good. mmmmmmmm. You can read this without reading the first four but if you are like me all the previous characters with obvious stories and I don't know them bug me, but it is an easy read. It's easy to get absorbed into the dystopian post pandemic world where people struggle for

I Love Rebecca Zanetti’s books and her latest, Winter Igniting, did not disappoint! This is the fifth book in the Scorpius Syndrome Series and it was awesome! I couldn’t wait to get through it to see what was going to happen but at the same time I didn’t want it to end! A real page turner.

I liked the mystery element in this book, perhaps because it wasn't predictable. I really had no clue what Pastor King's angle was for a long while. I figured out pretty quick who he was working with, but his motives remained unclear which was a nice change as I beginning to find the other books in the series a tad predictable.

The heat and chemistry between April and Damon was scorching. His genuine sweetness (toward everyone) was a nice change from all the he-man alphas we've been seeing in th

It is great to be back in the world of Scorpius, which is kinda weird. The world has gone to hell after the release of the Scorpius bacterium. Four things can happen after you contract this bacteria. One, you die. Two, you live through it and are changed, for the better. Smarter, better reflexes etc., though these aren’t extreme. Three, you live through it and are a psychopath. Everything from fully functional, but you have psychopathic tendencies like murder and thinking only of oneself. Four, ...more

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

One thing I am always grateful for is when books in a series can be read as stand-alones. At first, I thought this wasn't one of them and then I checked my reading history and discovered my error. I was confusing two series: one where they are fighting to prevent the disease by a different author but also read this month and this series in which I have read some of the previous volumes.

So, yes, this can be read as a stand-alone. Glad to have th

The only problem: they aren’t exactly forthcoming with what is happening beyond the walls they’ve erected.

Rebecca Zanetti knows how to build the perfect amount of tension. You know something bad is coming.
You are just not sure if…no, when all your worst fears will come to fruition.

The latest novel in the Scoripus Syndrome series features, Damon Winters. Damon is a former member of the LAPD SWAT and post-Scorpius, he is a member of the Mercs. While the Mercenaries try to merge with Vanguard, tensions are high between both sides. Even Jax Mercury is still wondering if he can trust Greyson, the leader

Winter Igniting is another amazing installment of Rebecca Zanetti's Scorpius Syndrome series. Once again, Zanetti explores survival after the apocalypse has taken almost everything.

April didn't have much in terms of family before Scorpius. She got pregnant very young in foster care, but they made it work. She worked hard to support her husband Dan, and raise her daughter Haylee. She was the perfect softball mom, heck, she was even president of the PTA. She lost Dan, then, lost herself when Hayl

Some big changes happening in this latest post apocalyptic chapter of Rebecca Zanetti's Scorpius Syndrome.

The Mercenaries have now merged with Vanguard. Some growing pains with that merger but not surprising when you mix two groups of alphas together. Damon Winter is as alpha as they come but he also has a strong sense of loyalty and even though he kills when he has he is still not comfortable with it. He came from a loving family with brothers he was close to who are all now gone. He is ex LAP

A humorous, fast packed, explosive read! I've been waiting for Damon and April's story and it did not disappoint. Damon, a cop before Scorpius hit, is a boot first through the door type of guy. April has lost her husband and daughter to the virus and struggles with her growing feelings for Damon. This is a book you will not want to put down as you watch the relationship between the two grow. I love watching how the men go from enemies, to fighting side by side, to friends and finally brothers as ...more

Pretty cool, I like the way thins are moving on compared to some other books, and I'm looking froward to the final showdown with the president. April and Damon are a good enough couple, even if it was, in my opinion, a bit too much of instant love, which I do not appreciate a lot.

Mi é piaciuto, soprattutto per come le cose si stanno muovendo complessivamente e rispetto ad altri libri in cui non succedeva poi molto, diciamo che mi aspetto molto dall'incontro finale con il presidente. April e Damo

This whole series is about losses endured, the need for love and the strength to go in. This is April and Damon’s story. I will admit that from the prior books, I thought April was too broken to be a good match for Damon. But in this book, I watched her grow back into a confident and strong woman. I loved the interaction with these two. Some of the parts made me laugh. I thought the ending was a bit of a turning point for the series. I can’t wait for the next book which is Marcus and Penelope.

I have to say I just wasn't feeling the relationship between April and Damon. Too often Damon behaved like and alpha-hole. April didn't like it but she didn't do anything about it either. The main story arc is still revolving around getting more info on Scorpius and fighting with President Atherton's men. I'm finding both story tiresome. Time to get some real info about the virus and defeat Atherton. I'm caught up with this series and looking forward to Marcus and Penelope's book.

Compulsively readable. I couldn’t put it down, didn’t want to put it down. Read it in one sitting. Loved watching April come into her own, and Damon fall for her. The subplots & suspense are killing me! More threads unveiled, and hoo boy, the showdown is going to be killer. Can’t wait for Marcus & Penny’s story.
