A deafening blast echoed down the mountain, bringing back horrifying memories of the previous cave-in at the mine. Now it was happening again. Exception this time was different - James was trapped below. How could Chloe go on without his love?
Concluding this heart-warming series, Still My Aching Heart find Chloe's world falling apart. All she had lived for was gone. Her dream of going to China seemed like a vague memory, and the man of her dreams would never brighten her days again. The independence she longed for when she fled her father's house was now hers. But not by choice.
In this compelling conclusion to the Chloe Mae Chronicles, Chloe again faces difficult decisions that are compounded by an uncertain future and responsibilities she never expected to bear. But what would happen when the one person she thought she'd never see again came back into her life?
Chloe is such an inspiring woman, she's a survivor, she's brave, she's strong, and she has faith. To read about Chloes growth from the age 16 where she hops a train to runaway from an arranged marriage to a brute, to staying in Kansas as a nanny and future mother to Jamie and marrying James after his 1st wife died- getting pregnant and giving birth with just her husband to help-having a tornado destroy her ranch home in Kansas while in Colorado- surviving a house fire and losing her hair- surviving a smallpox epidemic- losing her husband in a plotted mine collapse- surviving a snowstorm and killing an elk by herself- to surviving an earthquake in San Francisco and than falling in love again and getting married again at 24. She experienced so much in 9 years both good and bad ans she still has so much life to experience. I'm sad this series ends here. Chloe will always be an inspirational woman for me.
As the last book in the Chloe Mae Chronicles, I expected more in it than all the others. It had to come to a conclusion, it had to keep pace, and it had to be just as exciting as the other three in the series.
It disappointed slightly, only in that it seemed to slow down a bit
I figured the Chamberlain boys would find their way back into the plot (why else would Kay Rizzo have introduced them?), but it totally surprised me when I found out
i loved reading this book! i was captivated all the way through. however, i wish james hadn't died. part of me wanted chloe to remarry and part did not. i loved seeing jamie grow into a young Man. i definetly recommend this book, and this series.
