Write Left visualizes the experiences of a Canadian-Trinidadian girl. She depicts her experiences with fresh eyes. She highlights moments of difference from childhood to adulthood in her Mississauga community in Ontario, Canada.Sujaya’s book, Write Left, is dedicated to her late grandfather, her Nana. Sujaya looks at age, gender, and questions tradition as her surroundings evolve.
Write Left is Sujaya's reflection on life, and she brings us on a trip down her memory lane. I laughed, got teary eyed, and cheered for Sujaya's journey. Each story feels like a slice from her life, and though this book is a quick read, it's one that you'll want to savor. From childhood mishaps, friendships that didn't go so well, to heartwarming family moments, Sujaya's gorgeous writing immersed me in a world I yearn to hear more stories from. It's also nice to see Mississauga represented! I definitely look forward to read the author's next work.
One of my favorite quotes from the book: "I'll relax once queen sized beds are bigger than king sized beds."
