Dani Ripper #6

Hot Mess Express

Rate this book
Vicky Armstrong, a famous, powerful executive, wants Dani Ripper to find her missing grandson, and Dani’s eager for the case. Unfortunately, gangster Vinny The Prick’s new girlfriend has also gone missing, and Dani can’t say no to The Prick. Can she find a way to work both cases at the same time? Of course not! And yet…

Hot Mess Express merges a hilarious road trip with a deadly, edge-of-your-seat revenge thriller that will keep you guessing till the very end.

PRELIMINARY

“I’ve never met John Locke and don’t know a soul who has, but I picture him locked away in a rubber room deep below the earth’s surface laughing maniacally as he punches the keyboard for hours at a time in hundred-words-per-minute bursts. I bet he takes infrequent breaks, and only to engage in deep, philosophical conversations with the occasional passing bug. In short, he’s a nut, and of course I enjoyed Hot Mess Express, or whatever it’s called. I love them all, God help me!”

“Unlike the typical Dani Ripper books, this novel has all the elements of a Donovan Creed and Dr. Box, to go with the zaniness of Dani’s character.”

“The Lenny-Vicky subplot was riveting. Once it started, I was thoroughly invested in the story. Loved the twists and turns!”

Typical Locke

I have read many of John's books and have enjoyed all. Dani is a twisted character and has a way of extracting herself out of tight situations. This book was hard to put down. A real page turned trying to keep up with Dani!

Best one yet!

John Locke is a master of character, conversation, and plot twists. He appeals to the mystery loving pervert in all of us. Thank god this book has a happy ending.

I started reading the book and I just had to keep going. Perhaps this short paragraph might let you see why ...

“How do you like your eggs in the morning?” “Unfertilized,” I say.

Danni is being pestered by a womaniser who supposedly owns a mansion and he's used to woman falling at his feet when he tells them this. So he is totally taken back when she responds to his flirtatious question.

It is so funny and you will find this book has loads of these little quirky humour one-liners and a lot of similar phrases that will bring you loads of joy as you go through the book.

Danni is a private detective, taking on the unusual cases and using some very unrestrained methods, she works her way through to reach the end and solve her cases .

As you go through the book you gain an insight I to her life, her work, her thoughts and her sense of righteousness as she fights her clients corner.

Danni gains her clients through her success and via word of mouth particularly through her successful caes acclaim.

If you haven't read the Danni Ripper Series, you are certainly missing out on the humour, the sarcasm, the mystery, the eventful and daring situations, as Danni and her assistant work through their workload. Very intriguing, very funny and a most enjoyable book.

I highly recommend that you read this book but if you can, read from the first book so you gain an understanding of how Danni has turned into the successful detective as she is described and shown to be in this book.

Dani Ripper is a mess and she knows it, but is always determined to complete her cases. As usual Mr. Locke tries to shock us with shocking twists and turns, but they add to the story. This case is about a missing person, but turns into much more with mafia ties, old friends involvment and her having a constant case of sexual identity. I read it in one sitting.

More fun from Locke

More fun twists and turns from the master. Very difficult to put down, you'll find yourself engrossed in this book well into the wee hours. Most bang for your buck. Enjoy!

Did anything happen in this book? I can’t really remember since it was such a snooze fest. I don’t care about Dani’s relationship woes. She didn’t solve any cases. The humor was juvenile and made me constantly roll my eyes. This series started out strong and flopped at the end.

Just not very good

Even considering the fact that Locke's books are admittedly schlock, this one is nevertheless just not very good. None of the characters are entertaining and the last several "chapters" were a jumbled mess.

As always John Locke kept me super entertained with this 6th book! Not only does this series have some mystery and crime that I find so interesting, but it also has a few funny moments that keeps it being too dark. Definitely recommend to read this and the whole series!

Disappointing

Not up to his previous work. Choppy. Doesn't flow smoothly and just doesn't feel like a John Locke novel. Maybe the next one will be better.

Another great book.

A twisted, crazy flowing plot as always from this author. Car wait to read the next book in the series.
