Take a little Wonka, add in a dash of Mike Thaler, and an hour of B-Movies and you'll have this great, quick read. Jesse loves B-Movies and was one of a few kids hand-picked by Oswald Leery to be a VIP at his showing of Slimo at the local library. That one event kicks off the adventure of a lifetime for four seemingly different classmates. The Monster Squad has a lot of cleaning up to do after discovering Slimo is real, and attacking their city.

This book called Monster Squad was very enjoyable and fun for me to read. It is a mixture of horror, drama, and mystery. My all time favorite character in this book was Damon. He was funny and weird mostly because he always laughed during all the slime attacks and when he got slurped up but slime.
Damon was the best friend of the main character and the main character was the narrator so he told the story. He told the story of how him and his three friends Damon, Lindsey, and Stella got accepted to go to the directors house of all there favorite movies called the Slimo.
They all were connected to it somehow even if it was there grandparents or parents. And the slime comes from a slime monster that they are trying to find towards the end of the book. They are the only ones that can see the slime everywhere they go and all everyone else is seeing is water.
Monster Squad is overall an exiting book. It has two of my favorite genres drama and mystery. They figure out a mystery of the missing slime, while they argue and make funny jokes that cause more drama about each other.

I read this aloud to my kids (ages four and six). My four-year-old daughter picked it out at the library. They loved it. I even enjoyed reading it. We're all looking forward to reading the rest of the series. As much as my kids have loved it, it might be a little scary for some kids. My four-year-old has not wanted to go into the bathroom or kitchen on a few occasions because she was afraid that the slime was going to come out of the faucet...so be warned. I'm giving this five stars for its ability to entertain children. Whatever works, right?!

Jesse is a big fan of Oswald Leery's B monster movies, so he is very excited when he gets the opportunity to meet the filmmaker himself. But then his teacher disappears, the third floor of the school is in lockdown, and what's with all the green smelly stuff? Jesse and his friends have access to the Leery mansion and all it's resources to figure out the mystery.

This book was awesome. Jessie loves B Monster movies and gets to meet his favorite director, who tells him to fight B monsters.

The first monster is Slimo, and this leads to a really sweet story.

PS If you rub your hand on the cover picture of Slimo, it will get sweaty and feel like real slime.

This is currently Mikey's favorite book. He LOVES the Monster Squad! And he insisted that I read it with him this time through. Pretty cute so far. Although I'm thinking they should maybe spend more time fighting the monster than trying to decide if they are going to!
