A battle for love set against a Highland war!

Kenneth and Cat pledged themselves to each other two years ago, but her father refused to allow a match that would provide his clan no political advantage. Cat has spent her time refusing all other suitors in the hope that Kenneth would return, while Kenneth believed she was given in marriage to another so he fled to France to try to forget her.

The suspense and tension in the story dismissed any feeling of calm I had. From the very beginning, the action and adventure began for Kenneth Brodie and Catherine Rose. In the previous book "His Highland Heart", Kenneth had asked Catherine's da, James Rose for her hand in marriage. But the Rose denied him. It broke both Catherine and Kenneth's hearts. Two years later they find themselves in completely different circumstances. However, war is in the air and Catherine's life is in danger. Kenneth ...more

This is dramatic, suspenseful and romantic. Kenneth is stubborn, loyal, daring and protective. Cat is determined, bold and impulsive. After her father refused their marriage, Kenneth ran off to France. Two years later, after her father tries to marry her off for the third time, Cat runs away and goes to a cousin to hide, and ends up finding Kenneth, who is there as a hostage for his clan. When war seems to be imminent they run from the danger. The trek to get them home is fraught with danger, ye ...more

In this story, love will not be denied. After two years separation, Catherine finds Kenneth Brodie a prisoner of the Catholic Church. There is a lot of tension, anger, and passion expressed in this book. Catherine is head strong and a true redhead. Kenneth Brodie tried to keep away from Catherine after being denied by her father, but passion, attraction and one firebrand is hard to resist when you are alone with each other; racing across the highlands avoiding a war torn Scotland. The writing is ...more

Kenneth flees to France when he learns Catherine’s father is going to make her marry another. Catherine avoids being married off for two years waiting for Kenneth to return and finally runs away to Scotland. What will happen with their paths cross again? Entertaining read with plenty of drama. I really liked it.
