Perfect Fall is book three in The Perfect Love Series by Autumn Jordon. I read the first book in this series years ago and have long wanted to read this one. I loved the cover and decided that this fall was finally time to jump in.
Sileen Wright is around twenty six years old I believe. She lives where she grew up, in a tiny Vermont town called Black Moose. Sileen loves her family and currently is juggling so many jobs. She lives and works on her grandparents golf course where they also have several cabins they rent. This is not the future she dreamed of for herself but with her brother getting ready to go to college, there is no one else to do the job. The cabins and golf course need updating and they are barely keeping their heads above water. At the same time, she is head of the Small Business Organization in town and is also helping her best friend organize her wedding.
Of course, there is always a villain in every story. This one is the town’s very rich land owner who has a very fancy resort and gold course on the same mountain. He is slowly buying up the town’s businesses and Sileen is constantly trying to out maneuver him.
Hudson Mitchel is a professional baseball player. He is at the end of his contract and is currently in negotiations. Baseball is his life but Hudson is so tired of the public part of being a pro ball player. Everyone wants something from him. He can’t do anything without someone snapping his picture. Groupies follow him everywhere. So after his last game of the season, he takes off and tells no one where he is going. He ends up in the cabins at Sileen’s resort hoping to spend some time without being recognized, trying to figure out his future. He certainly hadn’t counted on the sassy granddaughter of the owner who didn’t seem to have any idea of who he was. Suddenly he saw a future he only dreamed of, a woman he could trust, who he could come home to, build a future with. The problem was she didn’t seem to have any interest in him.
“How could he resist her smile? It made him want to follow her to the ends of the earth.”
These two had a fun meet cute. And I loved the little town. The issue I had was that these two, although both were instantly attracted to the other, had zero communication between them. One always assumed the exact wrong thing about the other which caused so many problems. If they would have just told the other how they were feeling, so many things would have been avoided. Also, it wasn’t bad but there were quite a few errors. It wasn’t enough to distract me but a read through by the author might be helpful. I did enjoy the book. But lack of communication is one of my biggest annoyances.
Love is in the air again in Black Moose, Vermont. A man burnt out from his life as a famous baseball player and a woman who has her hands in many pots by helping run her family's golf resort, planning her best friends wedding and also making sure that the town's big source of income for the year - the Fall Festival - goes off without a hitch.
The stories in this series are all sweet, funny love stories of two unlikely people from different walks of life who meet at times in their lives when falling in love wouldn't seem convenient but it turns out to be just what they need.
Hudson Mitchel has always wanted to play baseball from the time he was a little kid. His love of the game itself hasn't changed but he has grown tired of the famous life and all that it brings with it. After hearing about small town in Vermont from a teammate he decides to escape his life for a while and hideout where no one knows who he is to contemplate his future. He never thought he'd find a woman that makes him think about a forever kind of love.
Sileen Wright grew up in Black Moose. She is passionate about her town and the people in it. She wears many hats in the town. One is helping her father run his golf resort which at times also includes chasing fighting moose off the greens. She also works at the courthouse and plays a big part in making sure the yearly Fall Festival goes off without a hitch. If all that wasn't enough she is helping with the planning of her best friends wedding. With all that on her plate the last thing she was looking for was a romance with the new stranger in town staying at her resort but her attraction to him is strong and she's having a hard time denying it.
Along with the romance we also get to see all of town's people we've met in the previous books along with the previous couples which is always a treat. These stories are always fun to read and your guaranteed a great love story with a happy ending.
I loved this book. It is one of the best I have read in a long time. It was a perfect love story with such interesting characters. They were also very believable. I look forward to my next book by Autumn Jordon. Thanks for such a great read.
Baseball star Hudson Mitchel is sick of paparazzi, sick of groupies, and sick of women throwing themselves at his feet. His playboy lifestyle has fueled a rash of bad publicity and his errors during the championship game is making matters worse. He needs to duck out of the limelight until things calm down. Dodging reporters, paparazzi, and ex-lovers, he shaves his trademark beard and checks into a golf resort near Black Moose, Vermont under an alias. The place is so remote his cabin doesn’t even have wi-fi. Which is just fine with him.
Sileen Wright has time for everyone but herself. She fights red ink at her granddad’s aging golf resort and chairs the Black Moose Chamber of Commerce. She’s even thinking of running for mayor. But first things first—she needs to get the fairground’s transformer replaced before the Fall Festival. If the event’s cancelled, tourists and their dollars will land at the upscale resort outside town and the business owners of Black Moose will be in for a hard winter.
What Sileen knows about baseball could fit in a thimble. She certainly has no idea the national superstar voted “Sexiest Sports Idol” is hiding out in one of her cabins. Sure, the guy’s handsome, but he’s a city boy through and through, useless when it comes to evading a mama bear.
It only seems right for Hudson to strike up a friendship with the woman who saved his hide from an angry bear. Being liked for himself—instead of for his body and fame—is a long-forgotten experience. Hudson’s enjoying Black Moose and its down-to-earth residents. And he’s falling for Sileen. Could it ever work out between them? She doesn’t have a deceitful bone in her body and Hudson’s been lying to her since they moment they met. He hasn’t even told her his real name! Sileen’s life is firmly planted in Black Moose, while Hudson’s career keeps him in big cities and on the road. Maybe they’re destined to be two ships passing in the night.
If you’re looking for a sweet story inhabited by characters so real you could swear you know them in real life, I highly recommend Perfect Fall. Autumn Jordon’s characters and setting come to life on the page. You’ll find yourself rooting for Hudson and Sileen, and maybe even plotting a little getaway to Black Moose for yourself.
Can a famous playboy athlete and a family-oriented country girl turn their Perfect Fall into Happily Ever After?

Once I started reading, it was hard to put it down. (As I am sick at the moment, I really need my sleep.) Opposites sometimes do attract and in this case, absolutely perfect for each other. I loved all the characters in this book and loved the town too. I loved the surprises, I did not see coming throughout it. I highly recommend this book.
I loved this book. This book was a gift and is the first book I've read by Autumn Jordan. I loved the characters and the storyline. I love books about people in sports. I can't wait to read another of her books.
