A nice erotic novella by a great PNR author. Honestly, I wanted more, but that is the problem with novellas sometimes. I do like the world she built, and the interesting story Walter's wove. I'll definitely be looking for more entries to this series.

There's a lot of sex scenes is this short story, and that's all I have to say since I didn't get to know either Cris or Johanna.

Note: Kudos to the publisher for putting a cover that matches the story, since that's rare.

Harker’s Journey 'Harker’s Journey' by N. J. Walters is book One in the "Dalakis Passion".  It is the story of Johanna and Cristofor 'Cris'.   This is a short, hot vampire read with about 115 pages.  Cris is a vampire that has been looking for his true love / the other half of him. When he goes near a campus where he hears a calling by Johanna.   Johanna was just given a Bram Stoker’s Dracula book which she feel in love with.  That night Johanna dream of a handsome vampire that would come for her.  When she woke the next morning she wasn't sure if she actual dream Cris or if it was real. Cris wants to claim Johanna but she is a young 19 and thinks to wait 10 years for her. This book deals with Johanna being 10 years older and meeting Cris in person.  "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1...  https://www.amazon.com/gp/profile/A2H... https://twitter.com/soapsrus68https:/... https://www.tumblr.com/blog/romancebo...

Is you want lots of sex in a short period of time this book is for you. Easy plot line with no real in depth characters. I guess it is a start to a series just to get it started....well they sure get it started, in more ways the one.

Received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

I am rating this one star, and if I could, zero stars. I didn’t finish this, and quit out on page fourteen. I couldn’t even try and get into this due to the author’s writing. Choppy, unflowing, and.. pathetic.

By page eight, an unknown man just appears in a young woman’s room and she’s completely fine with it (somehow???) and then by page nine, they start having sex. Here is where my two main issues with his lie in the book.

“shoved several fingers deep within her molten core...”
Okay I’m sorry but… is she a human or a volcano? This immediately ripped me out of the story in hysterics at the thought of a vagina being referred to as the inner core of a volcano. This is so inaccurate concerning a human body at all, and so many better phrases could have been used to have this more believable and less hilarious. This is meant to be erotica, not comedy.

“He was large and hungry and she was tight and untried.”
This was where I jumped out. You’re telling me that after her stomach is knotting and her body is on fire from sexual pleasure from teasing touches, that. She’s. Tight. I can’t stop face palming. Do you understand how a vagina works, N. J. Walters? Please do some basic biological research into sex because apparently you don’t understand how it works.

Erotica is meant to turn you on and give you a thrill, and I’m sat here as turned off as humanely possible reading this drivel. I’m sorry, but definitely give this a miss. There are PLENTY of vampire erotica stories you can read that actually are accurate and believable.

Cris and Johanna❣️

So I’m slowly reading as many books by authors I’ve recently discovered that I really enjoy their books and came across this one.

A couple of things…while I enjoyed the short story it felt more like an introduction into the Dalakis world, it wasn’t very in-depth, though perhaps that was intentional just to give us, the readers, a small taste of what’s to come. It didn’t have a huge amount of world building and character development but some great steamy scenes.

I love paranormal stories, so I will definitely dive into the next one shortly.

Johanna Harker is in Bram Stokers part of the world for a job, but she was not letting that tamper her excitement for the place that she has wished of coming to every since was eighteen.

The task was easy enough – meet with her companies biggest client and get him to sign some papers and that should be that. With how Johanna’s life has played out for the past decade she shouldn’t has expected things to go smoothly. From the day she met the man of her dreams – literally in her dream she has lived for the moments they are and can be together. Meeting him in the flesh in the Carpathian Mountains was definately a turn for the worst in Johanna’s books.

Cristofor Dalakis is the head of his family, he’s the biggest client for Johanna’s firm and he is a demanding man in all things – excepts when it comes to Johanna. He’s waited a long time for her, and now she was on his turf, they both have to make some decisions, some however are harder than most.

I decided to try a new vampi series, but nothing that makes me want to cart it around in my bag for a day or two. I just wanted a straight forward, one sitting read and I was not disappointed with HARKER’S JOURNEY.

The first in the Dalakis Passion series HARKER’S JOURNEY is the opening tale into the world of the Dalakis brothers that will eventually make up the other books. The main thrust of this book however deals with Johanna and Cristofor real life meeting after meeting in her dreams for the past decade.

I have always been a fan of Ms. Walters and her series never fails to impress me. I was a little tentative about starting this as there is such a predictable feel to the blurb, I could see where it was going, I could see it before I opened the book. This was my one assumption about this book and one I won’t make again – it was brilliant.

A fairly short read – but the pace, the excitement, the sense that something has happened, something is about to happen sucked me right in and I am so going with it.

Johanna wasn’t so bad, she had a spine and she had some moves when it comes to getting her groove on. Cristofor was all alpha male and bloody sexy with it. The little bits of angst in the book was just to the point and gelled the story together nicely. I really like this minimalistic opening book – nothing was wasted and I am already opening the second book in the series.

The setting of the book in the Carpathian Mountains was a nice touch i thought, as it reflected the natural nature of these changeling that I am getting the feeling are a force to be reckoned with and i am so along for the ride.

Johanna Harker’s rental car had broken down just as she coasted into the small village where she was staying. After asking at the inn and gas station she found only one man who would hire out his vehicle for the trip to Dalakis Castle. No amount of money could entice anyone else to drive her up the mountain path. The man had refused to go past where the pavement ended and the dirt road began. Then the driver sped away. Johanna was a city girl. It felt strange to be so alone. Johanna had a meeting to get to . Johanna was a representative of the Baxter Corporation in Chicago. Johanna was meeting with their largest client MR Dalakis. Mr Dalakis insisted a company representative hand- deliver all documents that needed his signature to his home in rural Transylvania. Since Johanna was the newest member of the investment firm she was the only one that could be spared from the office for an extended period of time . Johanna had been obsessed with vampires since her college days . since her nineteenth birthday when she had been visited by a dark lover in a dream. It hadn’t been a one time affair because every full moon just as he promised. He said to call him Cris . Cris knew Johanna was estranged from her family who thought she was weird and slightly crazy.Johanna realized her Cris was the client and he told her he was a vampire. If Johanna truly did not want him Cris would would not make her stay but he would have to let her go quickly. Cris signed the papers and yelled at Johanna to GO !! Johanna had run through the castle and down the long stairs but then stopped and knew she was being selfish and she loved Cris. She was going back when a wolf came out of the woods and then a second one seemed to come out of nowhere. But Cris came in wolf form and then he turned back to his human form and told the wolves “mine” and he told Johanna they will protect you with their lives as will the rest of the wolves in the forest. Then Johanna told Cris she was his and to take her home.
This was a great novella. Although short it left out nothing. It was a very hot novella. I loved the plot. I loved that Cris gave Johanna ten years to experience life and have a life. I loved that Johanna’s love for Cris overcame her fear. Also that the vampires were not killers and never forced their mates to join them but gave them a choice. I loved everything about this novella and I hope I get to read the other parts to this series. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

This wasn't bad, but it wasn't all that great either. Let's be honest. The book was more about the sex than the actual story. And while that was fun, it also made for a kind of boring read.

When Johanna was 19, she was gifted a copy of Dracula and she devoured the book. That night, when she's all alone in her dorm room thinking about her ideal vampire man, he appears at the foot of her bed. Thinking it must be dream, Johanna loses herself to the passion and unknowingly binds herself to the guy, Cris. Then we time skip 10 years ahead. During those years, every full moon, she would spend the night with her dream lover. And he has made it impossible for her to even want another man. She is currently working for a big financial company and has been sent to Transylvania because one of their biggest clients refuses to sign paperwork if it's not in person.

When Cris found the one woman meant to be his, he couldn't not claim her that night. But she was so young that he wanted her to be able to grow into the woman she would be and live her life. So he stayed away from her for 10 years, trying to content himself when the moon was full and he could share her dreams. But he won't wait any longer. And he will either have his bride choose him, or he will choose not to live at all.

When Johanna comes face to face with Cris again, some of her reactions were believable and some of them were not. When presented with the reality that the guy she fell in love with in her dreams was actually real, she doesn't know how to process it. Only made harder when forced to admit that he is indeed a vampire. So she flees. But she doesn't go far. Once Cris catches her again, this time he won't let her go. And after realizing the pain that Cris has suffered, Johanna doesn't want him to.

The ending with the brothers could have been done better. Why even bother introducing them if it was going to go down the way it did. They literally were like, hey we're leaving the country and wanted to meet you before we leave. Names are exchanged, Johanna's hand is kissed, and then they're gone. Seriously. WTF was the point of that interaction?

I do have the next two books, so maybe things will get better.

The discovery of bram stokers Dracula will change Johanna Harker for life. Getting lost in the tale she soon realizes she would give anything for vampires to be real. Dreaming of a man in the shadows, Cris is someone no other man will live up to in Johanna's life.

Cris has been searching for his one true love all of his life. Finding her in a dorm isn't quite what he expected. He'll give her time to grow, but being away from her will be torture. When the time comes for Johanna to meet her dream man, will it be everything she ever dreamed? or will it be a complete nightmare?

IT was a good book and being a lover of vampires I was surprised by how I didn't want to put the book down. A good quick read and it's really good on top of it.

Novella, which I finished under 2 hours. If you suspend your disbelief around events - For example the heroine meets the hero vampire when she was a virgin 18 yo and then is celibate for the next 10 years except for dream sex with her vampire boyfriend - the writing reads well. Don't expect character depth or a story with punch - this is a very short story and the author rushes us through the events to culminate in the first and only in person conscious (i.e. not in a dream state) meeting between the hero and heroine we are allowed to witness. And then The End. Having said all the above, this is N J Walters, queen of the erotic romance - and she delivers, even if it is in a fairly small spade.

N.J. Walters always provides an exciting, breathtaking read, and Harker’s Journey is all that and more. It was easy to become totally enthralled by this captivating story.

Cristofor and Johanna are engaging characters and this fast-paced, passionate tale, shows how one night can change your future forever. I can’t wait to see what Ms Walters has in store for Lucien and Stefan!

Harker’s Journey is a sizzling hot vampire erotic experience. Johanna’s obsession with the fantasy of vampires has changed the course of her life, even if she isn’t aware of the subtle directional turns that have been made by an unseen hand for years now. Cristofor has had the lovely young woman in his sights for years. She was too young for the life he would offer her when he first discovered her location, but time and patience were things Cris had learned to cultivate over his long existence. She was his mate, his other half and he had no intention of losing her, ever. For years he came to her in dreams – until the time was right to bring her to his home.

I enjoyed Harker’s Journey for what it was… erotica in a paranormal setting.

I’ve never bought into the theory that it’s not possible to get a full story from a novella – it is possible, if the words used create that world. The lore of the vampire has always been the strong sensuous thrall that captures a woman’s senses, emotions. Call that today’s modern term of insta-love and there is no doubt that Johanna is emotionally captured by Cris or the thought of what he is. Since this is the first story in a series I’m going to go with world building for this first one and hope that the next has as much story as sex… that, for me, in erotica is the balance I look for in enjoyment factors.

I’ve enjoyed N.J Walter’s works in the past, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the Dalakis Passion series takes us.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I..didn't like this. Did not hit the mark for me. I thought it was a novel, but it's a novella and unless it's part of a series as a companion book I generally don't like novellas. But since I already got the book, I'd give it a shot. It sounded good.

It was a book of every sort cliche imaginable, especially insta-love..which I just can not handle.

He comes to her and they have sex. And then for ten years, he comes to her only in dreams on every full moon. And here's where I actually laughed out loud: for her job she is sent to a castle in Transylvania to meet with someone who asked for her. ..Seriously.

The sex scenes were good. I think if this was a full novel, i would enjoy it. If there was build up, and a chance for them to actually fall in love I would have liked it.

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this.

I guess I was at a slight advantage because I ended up reading the second book in the series prior to the first one. This first book is really more of a short story that sets up the world of the Dalakis men.

The Dalakis are cursed with only ever loving one woman and being able to mate with them to share eternity. It sounds romantic, but there are some logistical problems when one finds his mate when she’s still only 18. Cris is a gentleman, though (mostly), and lets her live her own life for way 13 years before luring her into his castle for some real life seduction.

There was a lot of smut, sexy times, and a great start for a series. Even if I hadn’t read the next book already, I’d be interested in seeing how the remaining men end up paired off. Things only get hotter from here on out!

I liked it but...
It wasn't the same feeling I usually get from N.J. Walters. The author is so good at portraying intense attraction that is fast paced but believable and it didn't quite come off here.

Johanna has dreamed of Cris since she was 18 years old. 12 years later she meets him in the flesh and is (understandably) shocked. Cris is larger than life sexy and Johanna seems sweet although I would have liked to get to know them a little better.

The love scenes are typical N.J. Walters and nothing to complain about, but some of the inner dialogue was a bit cheesy. The story was interesting. I wish it was a little longer and the ending to not be so abrupt. Even so, I would re-read it.

Cris' brothers are introduced and I am interested in pursuing their stories.

Harker's Journey is for people who...

...like vampires.
...don't mind a little thirteen year waiting period before this vampire bride is claimed.
...like quick, sexy reads.
...have a soft spot for vampires who give their all and hold back to allow their chosen bride to have a normal life.
...like the idea of full moon sexin'.

Enjoyable. As a start to a series, it hit the spot.

Imagine meeting the mysterious stranger who has ravished you in your dreams every full moon for the last 12 years...

This is a short story about wet dreams coming true. It is the introduction to the Dalakis men--they are vampire shifters, they are cursed and they are looking for their true soul mate. Once they have found their one true love, they must convince her the spend eternity with them b/c they only get the chance to capture one heart in their lifetime. If they are turned down, they will be alone forever...

I love NJ Walters and will read anything she writes. BUT for me this was just too much sex. In fact its all it was. There really wasn't much of a story line at all. I just wish it was more like her legacy series. Yeah there was sex but there was a story line and characters I fell in love with. Harker's Journey had none of that.

If you're looking for a quick read that's just two characters having A LOT of sex then this is for you. But Id recommend her Legacy series for paranormal romance.

This was one erotic vampire love story. Johanna has had a dream lover since she was 18, but she never quite believed him to be real. When she has to travel to another country to get a client to sign papers and sees her dream lover, she is frightened by the reality of her dream vampire lover. The scenes were hot, and the story was good enough to keep you attention between the steamy bits. I would read more from this author.

After reading a few Harlequin Presents books just before this one I need to spice it up and I know that N.J. Walters always has good sexy stories. I've had this one on my Kindle for a while (years actually) and finally got around to it. N.J. Walters was one of my first erotica authors to grace my very first Kindle. I like her books, but I'm not sure I'm really a fan of this story. I think she tried to do a re-telling of Dracula, but it fell a little short for me.

*This book was received via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

I didn't realise at first that this was a novella - until I noticed how quickly everything was going on! This is a different twist on the vampire book, I think that I would have enjoyed it more if there was slightly more development of the characters (and relationship), but that is never going to happen in a novella!

For a short read this story was just OKAY nothing in it to rave about and ask my friends to drop everything to read. Lots of sex which we could have done without(a bit over the top!!) and more of a romance then this would have been a 4* book.
