The first in a fun, flirty new series from Mia Sosa!

After a very public breakup with a media-hungry politician, fitness trainer Tori Alvarez escapes to Aruba for rest, relaxation, and copious amounts of sex on the beach—the cocktail, that is. She vows to keep her vacation a man-free zone but when a cute guy is seated next to her on the plane, Tori can’t resist a little h

With her, I embrace realness, whether good, bad, or embarrassing.

How do you like your romance? Personally, I like it just the way Mia Sosa delivers it! Light, funny and a little sexy! A nice package to uplift any kind of mood!

I’m so grateful for book friends, see, I was in this book funk, nothing grabbing my attention, not the +500 books loaded in my kindle, nor the hundreds (thousands but I must pretend I still have room to buy more) waiting to be stroked on my bookshelves

Thank you!!

Looking for a fun, sexy, refreshing read with a sassy Latina main character and a swoony Hollywood love interest? Then you got it. Even if you weren’t looking for exactly that, you still want to read Acting on Impulse. Trust me.

I read my first Mia Sosa book last year, and I truly enjoyed how she wrote what I called “realistic romances”. For me, those are stories you can see yourself or someone you know living. Instead of that big dra

Goodreads is so dangerous. I finish a to review!! Then after a solid time scrolling through updates remember what I was really here for... expectations were pretty low for this. I couldn't tell ya why. They were though. So when this novel cleverly starts off with an actor (must be said in Tobias voice from arrested development, ty) on an airplane, getting away...I still wasn't expecting much. Until I was. Something about Carter's voice hit that Lauren Blakely feel for me-I like

This was a really cute read! I've been meaning to read this one for a long while and I'm happy I finally took the time to give it a chance. I really loved Carter and I loved how sweet he is. He's what you would call a beta-male and honestly I am 100% here for more of those kind of heroes because they are so amazing. I really loved Tori too! She is so badass and I loved how she both knew who she was and was also capable of understanding her weaknesses and learning to grow and change to become a b ...more

My brain is too mushy to write a review so I’m just going to say this book is equally lovely and thrilling. I laughed so much, there are butterflies in my stomach.

Apparently, if you want me to read a new-to-me author all you have to say is, “It’s a slow burn, ” and I am on it! That’s what happened to me with Acting on Impulse after seeing it mentioned in a friend's Facebook post. My interest was piqued by the prospect of a slow-burning romance as well as the blurb, but the first paragraph is what pulled me in: “I’m standing in the middle of an airplane aisle…Someday I’m going to marry the woman sitting in 12D.” Of course, I had to read the rest after that ...more

In my quest to read more new to me authors this year, with an emphasis on diverse/own voices, I found a real winner in Mia Sosa’s Acting on Impulse, the first story in her Love on Cue series. I usually stay clear of the ‘rich Hollywood movie star falls for ordinary citizen’ type of story but the synopsis for this one makes it clear that the heroine isn’t going be swayed by stardom. From the meet-cute (which doesn’t end well for the hero) to the finale it’s a delight all the way through.

I feel like a terrible blogger because I read Acting on Impulse at the end of my summer break, but never reviewed it. I was writing a list of book recs for Nereyda when I realized it! Oof! Acting on Impulse was such a fabulous book! It had everything that I enjoy in a good romance – it was honestly a pure joy to read this book, and I’ll certainly be re-reading it when I’m in a book funk. I’m not usually one for celebrity romances, because I feel like a lot of the drama in the book comes from the ...more

You can find this and many more reviews on my blog Marianna's Corner!

Acting on Impulse is a romance novel told both by Tori and Carter’s POV.
Let’s talk characters:

-Tori is a Puerto Rican fitness trainer, and she has just broken up -sort of- with her douche boyfriend. All she wants is some alone time in Aruba’s paradise, where she meets no other but incognito Carter. I liked Tori mostly due to her “I take shit from no one” attitude. She is such a badass and has such a dynamic personalit

I had so much fun reading this book!

The story is fast paced, and yet the romance build-up is slow and steady. Tori and Carter both had my heart from the start. I love them as individual characters and together as a couple. They were so right for each other! There was so much chemistry between them that ending up together was inevitable. I love how easy their friendship, and then relationship, was. I als

Acting on Impulse was the perfect mix of romance and lovable characters with a side of fabulous dialogue. Mia Sosa is such an amazing writer that she made me fall in love with Tori and Carter from the very first paragraph.

What I love most about Tori and Carter's relationship and about this book is that they have such a gooood relationship, like such a good dynamic between them. They get along so well and are sassy together and they have the same humor that Tori even think it's perfect. My heart
This book took me a bit to get into, but I'm glad I stuck with it, because it was unexpectedly funny and really cute!

I'm not into insta-love/lust and this book opens with the hero, Carter, musing that he's found his 'future wife' standing in the aisle of an airplane. Once I got more into the book, I realized how tongue-in-cheek this was because Carter is rather irreverent (even though he is genuinely smitten with her). Tori comes off as a bit standoffish when Carter first tries to get to know he

Acting on Impulse was a really fun light romance with compelling characters.

What I liked:

Both Tori and Carter are no nonsense - good people that I would love to have as friends. Of course, they have their hangups but don't we all?

I loved how Tori is totally in charge of her own life and safety while on her trip alone to Aruba but still leaves her heart open to helping others. Carter is an actor & self described drama king, afraid of being used but isn't your typical bad boy/damaged

*I received an ARC from Edelweiss for an honest review*

This is my first Mia Sosa book and wow!! It won't be my last that's for damn sure (i'm already eagerly awaiting book 2 in this series) The character's voices drew me in immediatelyyyy. With the alternating first person POVs we got a great sense of who these Tori and Carter are, their personalities, their thinking processes. It made for some hilarious moments with their inner thoughts.

The characters were great, the family and friend dynamics
🌻Tori is Puerto Rican and a personal trainer, traveling to Aruba to forget her last relationship
🌻Carter is a famous actor traveling to Aruba to forget his latest scandal
🌻One thing leads to the other and Tori ends up being her personal trainer. But oh no, Carter has a crush !! And Tori is not planning to date a celebrity.
🌻I loved Tori so much. She is funny, loyal and loves her job so much. Her love but complicated feelings about her family felt so close to home.
🌻I didn't like Carter at first (o
Mia Sosa’s dedication mentions her ‘favorite spot in Romancelandia, where happily-ever-afters are guaranteed, love is love, and only cakes are moist”. And every moment of this story (except it didn’t come with cake) were exactly as hoped for. Adorable and oh so sweet, the story moved from moments of angst caused by trust issues through absolutely darling moments of soul-bearing, heartfelt and completely engaging.

This is a sloooooow burn, but so worth it. It's told in a dual first-person present tense POV. I don't normally love the first person present tense, but Mia Sosa makes it work here. I do like that we get both Carter and Tori's POV as well, so we get to know both of them intimately.

I loved Carter. He's so cute and funny, and the way he falls into insta-love with (and declares to the reader he is going to marry) the woman in 12D made me giggle, and I thought it was funny the way

3.5 Impulsive Stars. What a cute, light, snarky, slightly steamy rom com!!! I've got several of Mia Sosa's books downloaded on my Nook, but this is the first one I've read. It sucks you in on page one. I mean how can you not keep reading when you get lines like, "I'm standing in the middle of the airplane aisle...Someday I'm going to marry the woman sitting in 12D."

Carter is an up-and-coming Hollywood heartthrob looking to get off the B-list and onto the A-list by playing a serious role instead

I have been seeing this book being talking about on Twitter for months and I was really looking forward to reading it and being able to review it. I went in with high expectations. For the most part, my expectations were met but I did have a few issues.

The first quote I mentioned above is also the first sentence of the book. I was immediately drawn in and wanted to know how exactly the hero, Carter, would make his very bold statement come true. Carter is an actor of moderate fame status. He is t

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the first in a new series - and I loved it! It is light, fun, sexy and satisfying.

Told from the POV of both leads, we get a really entertaining insight into how they feel, and how they react to each other. There is not however too much inner voice - which made me happy! The backgrounds, family dynamics and also expected futures of both Carter and Tori are laid bare to us in an organic way.

Tori's sense of humour
Acting on Impulse is book 1 in the Love on Cue series. This is my first Mia Sosa novel and won't be my last. I thought she did a wonderful job and I have to say I loved that this book is a diverse contemporary romance. I'm always wanting more diverse reads and this one was a great fit. Toss in the celebrity love interest and you have my full attention.

You guys, I FLOVED Acting on Impulse. I was in the middle of a total book funk-nothing was pulling me out of it until I pick up this book to read. And I was sucked in from the first page.

I loved the dynamic between Tori and Carter. They both are a bit jaded by publicity. Both want to have a private life. But privacy is hard to come by when you're a celebrity, like Carter. Which is why he's thrilled when Tori doesn't recognize him on the way to Aruba. And things are all well and good until the pe

Acting On Impulse (Love On Cue) by Mia Sosa
Mia Sosa is a ray of sunshine.  She uses her quick wit and irresistible talent to brighten up the world of romance.  Acting On Impulse is destined to be a classic.  Where else can a smidge of fantasy lead to a dose of reality?  Tori has a history of falling for the wrong guys.  Her heart is all in, but reality doesn't measure up to the fairy tale in her head. In need of a little rest and relaxation after a draining split, she takes a vacation.  A litt

I adored this book! Tori is fantastic and I wish the cookbook she and her mom and sister are working on at the end was a thing in my hands because the food descriptions in this book are delicious. If I didn’t always want plantains and yucca, I would say this book caused the craving, but it’s just too hard to tell. And our hero, Carter Stone, is adorable. I liked him, but didn’t love him. I’m unbelievably excited to read the second book in the series though because for unknown reasons, Julian alr ...more

This was a couldn't-put-down book for me. Tori is strong and sassy; Carter is hunky and soft-hearted. Together they bring out the best in and challenge each other. Tori's Puerto Rican heritage is beautifully woven into the story. Mia Sosa has done a fabulous job creating wonderful characters with a heartfelt story you can't help but root for. It's a definite recommend!
