***STANDALONE NOVEL***

She is the one. I knew it then, and I know it now.

It has been ten years since I first laid eyes on her, ten years since I’ve held her, ten years since I’ve been inside of her . . . and ten years since I broke her heart.

Now she’s back. And when I look into the eyes of my first and only love, I know she is the one for me. She is still the most beautiful woman, and she can still make my body come alive with just a glance.

If I feel this way, she must too . . . right? Wrong. According to her, the past is the past. Her life doesn’t consist of second chances, just the here and now. But guess what? I’m here, and it’s now. We aren’t meant to be apart—that was my mistake, and I will do whatever it takes to make her mine again.

She forgets I know what makes her blush. She forgets I know how to make her laugh and how to give her immense pleasure—but I am determined to remind her.

And once I do, I will never let her go again.

Having read countless 2nd chance romances & 99% of time came out always disappointed, I went into this one cautiously & hopeful because the childhood/first love trope is my own go-to. So for the first 30-35% I was sure that this would be a winner, but as always these days, the Author had to go and use the old cliché & tiresome trope (more on that later) and ruin it for me!

This review will contain some MAJOR SPOILERS, so for anyone interested in reading it, please stop now or don’t click on the spoiler tag…..

Backstory:

Jack & April met when they were both 7 yrs old. April & her family moved next door to Jack and there is an absolutely cute epilogue on the first chapter in which we get Jack & April’s first meet. Jack at the time was hoping it was a boy moving in next door whom he could play with – only to find out that it was a girl, April, whom he fell for right on the spot and became besties and more. (They were each other’s “first”).

At 16, Jack gave April a heart pendant and promised her that someday he would give her a ring & “Forever”. Only two years later at 18, April’s family had to relocate and Jack ended up breaking her heart (and his!) by calling it quits with her! This was a douche move on his part because at the time he thought he was doing the right thing, only he ended up regretting it each and every day.

When they meet again 10 years later, they are both 28 now and he has (unbeknownst to her) invested in her family’s business and is her boss. This sets up the plot for their reunion, but April won’t make it easy for him because in the intervening years, she went through some tough times and has a secret she is keeping from Jack. She also has another BFF (he is gay) that she tries at first to hide behind so that she can push Jack away, but Jack is one smart cookie and he didn’t let anything get in his way to win back his soulmate!

“Jealousy doesn’t look good on you, Jack.”

“Jealous? You think I’m jealous of another man?” “The only thing I’m jealous of right now is your panties, because they get to touch what’s mine. But you’re not mine yet. As much as I need you back, I refuse to kiss you until you tell me you want it because like I said, a day hasn’t gone by when I haven’t thought of you.”

I would have easily given this a hands-down 5 or 10 stars because it was truly a sweet romance in which the Author took the time to develop the characters and show us how they fell in love and formed an unbreakable bond. So why not the 5 stars?

“Every time April was in arm’s reach, I wanted to hold her, kiss her, and make love to her from the inside out. It didn’t matter how many women I’d been with, because none compared to her. None held my heart in their hands, and none would ever hold mine in theirs… only April”.

This story gave me all the “feels” I look for in a romance, even with all the plot points that I hate. So if you can put those things aside and enjoy it for what it is, I think you may end up liking it..

“Do you believe everyone has a purpose?”
“For example, some people were born to turn ingredients into masterpieces. Some were born to defend or lead countries. Others were born to be athletes or role models.” I placed my hand over my heart. “I was born to be yours. I don’t care about my houses or cars. I don’t care about money or my companies. None of it matters because I don’t have you. All I want is to love you… just you, April. I know I hurt you. I know I broke us, but please let me put the pieces back in place. All I want is for us to be together… to be happy… to love… because that’s my purpose. You, April, are my purpose.”

SIDE NOTE: ****This is for the GR person who PM'd me & is following my reviews ***

I will not PM you to answer your questions because I don't need to explain my reasons why I like or don't like something. I will nevertheless tell you that as a woman & human being, I have personal respect for myself. I have values & principles that apparently you lack and that is fine because to each their own.. . That said, just because I don't like or accept cheating in my fictional romances or in real life, does not mean that I have personal "experience" with cheaters/cheated on or being a prude. Quite the opposite in fact, but that is none of your business. So I leave you with this:
You ever hear of "Self Respect", Diseases, etc.?

“Yᴏᴜ ɴᴇᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ ʟᴇᴛ ᴍᴇ ʟᴏᴠᴇ ʏᴏᴜ."

It’s Jack Prescott’s time to get his happily ever after and he’s holding nothing back when it comes to the woman he let get away. 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐝, Joanne Schwehm’s latest SWOONY standalone romance, brings us back to the amazing family that I've come to absolutely ADORE!

Jack and April have quite the history together, and Jack is on a mission to claim the woman he has loved from the very start. April isn’t going to let him back in her heart so easily. There are things he doesn’t know about her and if she has it her way…she’ll be able to walk away at the end of this and he will never have to know. She can try and walk away, but Jack won’t let her get very far…he is a Prescott after all and he plans on never letting go of her again.

Sexy, romantic, charming, AND emotional, this love story will have you feeling all the feels in no time! I LOVE THIS FAMILY and if you give them a chance, I know YOU will too!

This series is so very near and dear to my heart. Mainly, because I was there every step of the way, reading every wonderful word Joanne Schwehm wrote down, unfolding every remarkable page until Jack's story was complete. Like his brothers and sister, before him, I was hooked at the very start. I can't recommend this book, this series, enough. Stiffed is a heartwarming story between childhood sweethearts who have a second chance at happiness. Whether they achieve it or not is part of the fantastic journey. Add in the other Press-hots, I mean Prescott brothers, and you won't stand a chance in making these Prescott Novels ones you'll read over and over. Now bring on Hooked, Josh's story. I'm ready to add him to my hashtag #AllThePrescottsAreAms. #SorryNotSorry

With every Prescott Sibling you can’t help fall a little more for this fantastic family. We have loved and met Drake, Dane & Gretchen and how each of them have found their other halves but now we have Jack Prescott and his story starts from when he is seven years old. When Jack meets April they are just kids but they are each other’s firsts. Friends, boyfriend & girlfriend even lovers but life takes different roads but sometimes that road leads back to where it all started.
April Johnson always knew that Jack was special but 10 years have passed and a lot of things have happened in her life but when she returns to Virginia she never knew how everything she once knew can become that reality once again.
You can’t help feel the way the chemistry between Jack & April fall from the pages of their story, you most definitely get caught up in their journey that leads them back to each other but what you really want to happen is to believe second chances do happen to two people that definitely deserve it.

H and h met when they were 7 years old, eventually they started dating. When they turned 18, h’s father had to move to Idaho for professional reasons. H breaks up with h, since they would not be together in Washington anymore. Here, I want to ask the author, had her characters not planned on going to college? I mean, does it matter if the family was relocating? I’m sure H and h had discussed college plans. Anyway, I suppose then maybe there would be no story.
Ok, so now 10 years later, H buys majority share in h’s company. H moves back to Washington. H sweet talks the receptionist into letting him into her office (!!!), and then, the H starts with how he is jealous of the h’s panty because the panty is touching the h, where only he can - I mean wtf! I’d slap the man, call security and fire the receptionist!
Another DNF!

I’m new to the Prescott’s but after reading Stiffed by Joanne Schwehm, I am a fan. I want to go back and start at the beginning. Which, is good in a way, because I get to see more of Jack. To see how he was before April came back into his life.
This is a very addicting story, Jack is a man on a mission to win back the love of his life. He’ll literally lay down his life for her and not blink an eye.
Jack and April have a long history together, but for as long as they have known each other, from friends to teen-aged lovers, they have been apart. Jack broke up with April when she and her parents returned to her home state of Idaho when they were seniors.
But, when Jack gets the chance to repair his mistake he goes all out.
April has been through the wringer since moving away. She thought having her heart broken was the worst that could happen to her, but she was wrong. She’s a woman with a cloud hanging over her, one that she lets get in the way of just being herself. Letting Jack back into her life, and her heart is a huge risk, one she’s not sure she can take.
Jack is going to make sure she does.
I freaking loved this entire book, I am one happy girl when a book leaves me with that feel-good feeling and Stiffed gave me it in spades. Now, I’m off to meet Dane and Lucy in Incumbent and maybe by the time I’m done with them all, Josh’s book with be on the horizon, and I’ll be a happy, happy girl.

With every word, every page, I fall more in love with the Prescott family. Joanne Schwehms' telling of the life and love of Jack Prescott was a complete and utter surprise. Although featured in her other Prescott stories he was guarded emotionally. You knew there was something hidden down deep but when she opened him up in his story, I fell hard for him. I have to say for me, he gave older brother Drake a run for the money in the book boyfriend category. Jack and April met as children and it look like they would be destined to marry one day. Life, as always, can bring both beauty and tragedy. April's family opted to move across the country separating the teen couple, destroying April's heart. When these two are brought back together by fate a decade later, can the walls be torn down and relationships mended? You will not want to miss this next installment in the Prescott series and now I will sit and wait patiently for youngest brother, Josh.

DNF... sorry not a fan of anyone using their money and power to bulldoze his way thru someone’s life. I don’t care how much history they have. Too much time has passed and he fucked up. That’s not how you win the love of your life back. Weak woman call that persistence and romantic, strong women call that bullying and coercion. Not being given a choice is not romantic. Sorry not sorry.

Stiffed is one of those books that grips your heart and squeezes real tight. It is sweet, sexy, and intense with a whole lot of love. The story line is so very compelling and meaningful. It's a cross between childhood sweethearts and a second chance romance. Joanne did a really nice job of bringing Jack and April's story full circle. It was not drawn out, and Stiffed flowed the way it was meant to. Stiffed is about, staying true to your heart even though circumstances get in the way. It is about, fighting for what your heart tells you to, even when times get tough. Stiffed is the book that took on loads of devotion and patience until the very last page. In life, the things that are the most meaningful, are the ones that you have yo work hard for, and Joanne showed us that with April and Jack's book. This story was beautiful.

Jack has attained so much in his life to be in his 30's. He has all the cars he has ever dreamed of. A house that he planned for in his teens, a career that he loves, that let's him live his lavish life style. A family that dreams are made of, and a personality that is so humble that you aspire you son to be.

April has a career that she worked hard for. A best friend, that is the ultimate of friends. She is rather simple girl, that doesn't need the fanciest of things. She can literally make anything she wears her *****. She is not the, in your face girl.

Ten years has passed since these childhood sweethearts have communicated. When circumstances bring April back to town, Jack is willing to pull all of the stops out to claim her as his again, but April wants to leave the past in the past for many reasons. Can Jack show April what their love is capable of??

* I recommend this book.

I love this series and this new installment does not disappoint.

Sometimes when we're young we make decisions that we live to regret a few years down the line, this was the case with Jack Prescott. He let go of the woman he loved and now that she's back in his life, he'll do anything to show her, not only that he loves her dearly, but the future they can have. April Johnson has always know that Jack was the love of her life, but circumstances in life may prevent them for having their happy ending. I loved the way Jack showed how much he cared for April, he was tender, caring, and above all supportive and respectful of her feelings. I understood April views and I probably would've felt the same way if that was me.

I have to say Ms. Schwehm took me on a path that I never suspected, but loved it. It was different and it deals with issues that are very important for a human being. The way she presented their relationship was realistic and like life full of ups and downs. One lesson prevailed after I was done reading this book, sometimes we have to take the bull by the horns and just ride it the best way we can enjoying every single second.

Stiffed is a second chance story and has everything that a lover of contemporary romance looks for, a swoony hero who is successful and know what he wants and a heroine who is strong and secure of herself without losing who she is. Highly recommended!

STIFFED is the 4th book in the Prescott Series by author Joanne Schwehm. This is a beautiful , emotional and charming 2nd chance romance that enticed my heart from the moment the prologue started.
Jack fell in love with April the day she moved in next door when they were 7. From that moment on, they were inseparable until Jack broke up with April when they were 18. That was THE biggest mistake Jack ever made. Fast forward 10 on and Jack is this super millionaire while April has come back to town to open up a branch of her dad's company. Jack is aware of every single thing April does and he is ready to make his move - his move to win back the only love of his life. But is she willing to give him that chance? Jack is one sexy, handsome and patient alpha male. I loved how he really paced himself and didn't give up. He knew he was in for the fight of his love life with April. April is smart, beautiful, wary yet still devastated by how their relationship ended 10 years before. Plus she has secrets she's hiding from him. April still loves Jack but isn't sure she wants to risk losing her heart again.
This emotionally charged romance will have you rooting for Jack and April. For their HEA and for sweet, sizzling and true love that has you just swooning at just the perfect writing that Ms. Schwehm did. She wrote a love story that shows love is all you need and to never give up. Loved seeing previous characters make an appearance.

My Rating: 4.8*****

J+A......A+J. Firsts and Lasts. Swoon. I read this as an arc and can’t believe I was lucky enough to get my hands on Jack and April’s story before the release date. This is my honest opinion of the book and exactly what I would have written if I had purchased it.
Jack and April met when she moved in to the house next door. She also moved into his heart and took up permanent residence there. My favorite scene was when 7 year old Jack knocked on his neighbor’s door. He was hoping they had kids - specifically boys he could play with. April answered and hoped he had sisters she could play with. From the second they got over the fact that this wasn’t the case, they were inseparable....until.....
Jack broke April’s heart into a million pieces. But they still belonged together no matter what life threw at them. 10 years later, the story of Jack fixing his mistake and breaking down the brick wall April built around her heart continues and you can’t help wishing for their HEA.
I loved this story. The family dynamics and April’s bond with Alan surround Jack and April with love and support. Obstacles big and small jump out along the way but the way the story is written, you picture these two as kids, then teens and now adults and you feel like you’ve been along for the whole ride. Beautiful story. Joanne gave us yet another winner.

Now she’s back. And when I look into the eyes of my first and only love, I know she is the one for me. She is still the most beautiful woman, and she can still make my body come alive with just a glance.

Joanne Schwehm is absolutely a one-click author for me (I always like to disclose upfront because I never want to come off as a "biased" reviewer). I like the way she writes and I have absolutely enjoyed the Prescott Family.

STIFFED is the 4th story in the Prescott Series AND IS ABSOLUTELY MY FAVORITE!!! It can be read as a stand-alone as long as you know that the Prescott Family is everything you would think an "All-American" family is.

I crushed on Jack from the very first time he was mentioned way back when because he checks all of my boxes. Looks good in a suit - check Is kind and empathetic - check Looks good in jeans and rolled up sleeves - check Is business savvy - check This man can do no wrong in my book.

STIFFED is a fast and fabulous read. It has humor, romance, sexy times, and Pop Rocks (seriously, Pop Rocks are an under appreciated candy). It is everything I wanted it to be and so much more. It is right in my wheelhouse and is a book that I will absolutely be reading again in the future.

This is the perfection of second chance romances. Joanne Schwehm has outdone herself. She has written a truly heartfelt romance.

Can I get a Jack Prescott? Y’all are going to fall in love with him even more than you already do. He’s made lots of appearances in the other books and when we finally get a chance to get into his mind, and see his love for April your heart will be full.

We follow as Jack pounces on a chance to get April back home in Virginia. He has loved her since they were 7 years old. He wants a second chance to right his wrongs. Once she’s back he doesn’t stop fighting for them. April has a brick wall built around her heart when it comes to Jack Prescott. But he’s not backing down on getting his woman. We watch has April tries her best to not fall for him again but the love these two have outweighs everything else.

Joanne has written the most perfect book boyfriend with Jack. He will have you swoony your bottom off.

I would highly recommend this book to any romance lover!

*I was given an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.*

I so love the Prescott family, every brother is wonderful, sexy, caring and Gretchen ( the baby sister) is great fun. But this is Jacks story, and what a brilliant story it is. Jack is sexy, assertive, successful, rich, charming, romantic but he is missing something or rather someone in his life. When jack was seven he met ( without knowing) the love of his life, her name was April. They were inseparable for years and they became childhood sweethearts. However life got in the way and they went their separate ways, April moved states with her family and Jack went to college and became extremely successful. After 10 years their paths crossed again and the new adventure began. This is a very touching story, full of love, sexiness, laughs and a tear or two. Jacks journey to win April back is epic and it is wonderful to see how it all happens. What’s also brilliant is that all the Prescott brothers show up at one point or another so there is a little more insight into their lives and of course Gretchen’s too.
Only one brother left to have a book...Josh, I’m waiting for you!!!

4.5 Second Chance Stars!
I loved this beautiful story of friendship, love, and redemption! It is a sweet and emotional second chance romance that captured my heart from the very beginning! Jack and April have been best friends since they were kids. That close bond turned into a love that would never die. Unfortunate circumstances tore them apart and Jack didn't handle it well, breaking both their hearts. Now years later, Jack has his second chance to make things right, to prove to April he will never hurt her again, and he won't let anything stand in his way. I loved watching them rediscover each other again, it wasn't easy for them, but so worth the journey. It is told in past and present sequence, revealing the depth of their connection and who they are, which I loved. Jack is so swoony, as well as all his brothers, I can't wait for Josh's story! Ms. Schwehm's writing is so beautiful, and moving, and her characters are genuine and easy to relate to. I loved everything about this second chance love story of hope, and forgiveness.

So this was my first "Prescott Family" book and lord I'm going to have to go back and read the other three.  And not because I felt like I missed anything or was lost but because this book was so freakin awesome I need more of The Prescott's!!! Especially those men,and the man to win the woman Prescott has got to be worthy!! So yeah I'll definitely be picking up those books. This was one of the best second chance love stories I've ever read. It had the perfect blend of angst, romance, suspense and danger to make it the best bowl of porridge ever, I couldn't get enough of Jack especially, and didn't want it to end!!! What April had to go through while apart from Jack was devastating.  And I can understand completely where she is coming from by trying to keep him at arms length. And not letting him back in, shes only trying to do what she feel is right.  But is it right?  Jack doesn't think so.....and he usually gets what he wants. Will he this time? I highly recommend you find out yourself!!!

The Prescott family will have you falling in love with them . Young love lost but now a chance to live and love again . Can Jack show April a future for them together !
Jack and April have a second chance and if it is up to Jack he will never let her go this time. Their love was young but true. When Jack walked away thinking that they couldn't withstand a long distance relationship as young adults it destroyed April. She continued on with her life but always had loss of true passionate first love. Jack has tried many times over the years to win her back but to no avail. He is now all in and will use any means necessary to once again hold and have the woman he lost. April is determined not to have her heart ripped out again but Jack can be very persuasive and sweet .She soon realizes that the sweet passionate boy she fell in love with is now the driven, powerful man she sees before her ! This is going to be difficult to deny! A fabulous second chance romance .

Maybe my most favorite Prescott Novel yet. It was warm and funny. Hot and sexy. Sweet and naughty and oh so romantic.
Jack fell in love with April the day she moved in next door when they were 7. He brought brownies and asked her to play in his back yard with him and they've been inseparable ever since until she moved and he broke up with her when they were 18. The biggest mistake Jack ever made.
Fast forward 10 years.... He's a mega millionaire and she's back in town to open a branch of her dad's company.
This story was so much fun to read. Joanne Schwehm can sure weave a tale that will keep you glued to your reading spot until you finish. I loved all the Prescott Novels but I think Jack holds a special place in my heart. A well written, fast moving, love you forever love story. Totally worth the read.

So very good! I am now in love with two Jack’s. Well actually all of the Prescott’s. I love stories that start out in the characters childhood or youth and then ages the characters through the books’ storylines. This story has moments of hardache and love. The kind that girls and women dream of. I started reading Stiffed and thought I would just read a few chapters then go to bed. Didn’t happen. Each chapter drew me into the next. This is a must read if you like strong characters that love with all their hearts and believe in family. I am thrilled that there other books written about the Prescott Family. I hope that every book brings news of the previous stories. I certainly will be reading the others!

Well , to say I loved this book wouldn’t do it justice I really am not great at writing reviews but here goes . Joanne has done it again , writing and bringing to life another Prescott who is no doubt a dream come true. He loves his family , he loves his job but the one thing he needs is his childhood best friend and soul mate , April, who he hasn’t seen in 10 years. This is an amazing second chance story. To be so engrossed in Jack and April’s story was so easy, relatable and just a damn good book. I have waited for Jack’s book since reading Gripped. I know Jack gave Joanne a lot of trouble but what good man isn’t worth a little trouble? He was most certainly worth the wait! Bravo Joanne , now on tho Josh (wink!wink!)

What an awesome story this was! Jack and April had a young love. Now, it's time to see if they get a second chance. The characters are very likable. We met Jack in the other Prescott books. Now, if you haven't read the other books, you may get a bit confused on the other characters' storylines, but it is ok if you do. That doesn't take away from this storyline. Jack is alpha male, but a patient alpha. He knows what he wants and who he wants and will let nothing stop him, not even April. That is an awesome male lead. The storyline is very engaging and you keep wanting to read to see what is really going on with these 2. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.

Oh Jack, such a smooth, sexy man, These Prescott Men are the whole package. Jack has loved April since the first time he saw her at the age of 7. The had were the best friends as kids then as they got older. Life happens and years later Jack has April back in their hometown and back in his life but can he convince her to give them another try, can he show her how sorry he is that he let her go, but more importantly can he show her she has always been the one and only girl for him . April has things she is hiding but is it enough to make Jack let her go again. These two have had such a strong bond is it enough to push through her walls she has up.

Eeeekkkk!!! I’ve waited so long for Jack’s book and it was everything!!!

Jack and April meet when they are kids. They started out as friends and ended up being teenagers in love. Unfortunately they get split up and ultimately live their own lives before reuniting. The chemistry between the two leaps off the pages!!! Jack is such a great and romantic guy! April is a head strong woman with a heart of gold. The banter between them is easy going and I found myself literally laughing out loud!

Of course the other Prescott’s make appearances in this book. I absolutely adore this whole family and it’s by far one of my favorite series!!

Stiffed had a couple of my go-to genres:

Friends to lovers and Second Chance...oh wait and one HOT ALPHA man!!!!

First, Chapter 1 had me hooked!!!! I just loved how Ms. Schwehm grabbed my attention and emotions right from page one.

Stiffed is all about Jack and April....so let me begin...

Jack...oh Jack! He knew what he wanted and he wanted April and he wasn’t going to stop trying until he had her.....completely!!! April was determined too, to not fall for Jack and his ways. But we all know how us women try to do things but when it comes to our men.......

I highly recommend!!!!

Jack was so swoony!!! April was the one that got away and several years later she returns and he staked his claim. They were childhood best friends then lovers when they eventually broke up when April family was relocated out of state. She thought Jack completely forgot her but how wrong was she. He always kept tab on her from a distance.

April was trying to play hard to get when Jack reappeared in her life but failed miserably. These two were adorable and the Prescott family was just as entertaining. There was a slight hiccup but it was resolved. Jack pursuing April will have you smiling the entire story.
