Coon Hollow Coven #4

Witch's Mystic Woods

Rate this book
The Lockwood witches are the only tree mystics known to the Midwest, and soon Larena will be the last. Their heritage is crumbling—but not if Larena can save it.

With loving care, Larena helps her mother Irene face the final journey of severe dementia. Corporate vultures, envisioning a mall project, are circling to take the Lockwood land and antique store by eminent domain upon Irene’s death. Their success will lay claim to the souls of Larena’s deceased father and grandfather, both tied for all eternity to the family’s land.

Using rare, inherited magical skills, Larena communicates with trees and crafts their wood into enchanted furniture, which bring blessings to future owners. An unscrupulous witch, working with the corporation for a share of the profits, sabotages Larena’s mysticism to curtail her livelihood. One charming vulture, Reid Peterson, preys upon her heart. Armed with only grit and attitude, Larena fights to stand her ground.

Local seers and fae alike foresee a shift with the concurrence of Winter Solstice and the coming new moon. Otherworld energies will then become available to an unnamed person in desperate need. Larena must be that person—or her heart, home, and heritage will be wrenched away.

In a town steeped in magic, and an era from the past, Larena is special among the town of witches and warlocks for more than her kind heart. She is a tree mystic and her gift allows her to imbue wood with her enchantments. But when a bitter and much weaker witch finds the lure of money and power too much, Larena’s livelihood is threatened and she finds one more brick added to the burdens she already carries.

As the sole caregiver for her failing mother, it is all Larena can do to get up and carry on each morning, and now that the town is considering taking her store away from her, what will she have? Will she become another victim of corporate greed as well as the victim of the evil machinations of one of her own kind? To lose the land means to lose the souls of her ancestors and this cannot happen just when she is losing her mother to the horrors of dementia, her reputation to dark magic and the only life she has ever known.

Not a tale filled with over-the-top violence, but certainly an emotional tale of the trials of life, deceit and conniving of both a cold corporation and a truly wicked witch. Marsha A. Moore creates a tale of magic wrapped in the reality of circumstances beyond Larena’s control. WITCH’S MYSTIC WOODS is both a heartwarming and heart-wrenching tale of love, family and the delicate balance between honor, duty and protecting one’s heritage against all odds when fighting dirty would seem to level the playing field.

Stepping into Coon Hollow is like stepping back in time, with the rich details of both a special town and its inhabitants as we learn that even a corporation is made up of people with their own set of problems. A quiet read to savor, Ms. Moore has created her own form of magic with her words!

Be prepared !! This book will make you laugh, cry , get angry and everything in between as Larena fights to keep her motger alive, her family business, magic and home away from a wicked witch and a family with 2 sons, each vying for top dog of the firm. Marsha Moore has crafted the mist amazing book in her series to date and I can't recommend it enough to any liver of paranormal romance. I received a gifted copy of the book and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review. 5⭐'s !!

Larena is a twenty-six year old Forest Sage (Wood Witch) born and bred in the coven and the last of her kind. She is graced with the ability to communicate with the energy in the trees, and enchants wood for anyone who touches it. This comes in handy at her antique shop, Lockwoods’ Antiques & Collectibles.

Unfortunately, her antiques business is struggling and her mother’s health is poor. Financial debts are mounting, as are her responsibilities. A proposal of $500,000 to buy her land and store offers a way out. Except, Larena is grounded in a strong sense of family and she refuses to let go of the family name, feeling it’s most important to keep their unique form of magic alive. Only, a heinous seer will see to it that if she doesn’t give it up willingly, she will take it, and much more…

WOW. What a story! I loved this magical installment of the Coon Hollow Coven Tales by Marsha A. Moore. Larena’s life as a tree mystic fascinated me, and how she found her calling running an antique store, enchanting wood for customers. I loved all the rich details and smiled when Larena would have conversations with her furniture. I loved how her Grandfather, a deceased tree mystic, lived within a row of trees, ready to hug her with his branches and communicate with her, offering her advice when she needed it. It was marvelous.

The blending of magical versus non magical people living together as part of a community and the acceptance of one another was great too. I enjoyed the subtle romance, and the ending offered the sweetest happily-ever-after on earth.

I don’t know how she did it, but Author Marsha A. Moore made me feel sympathy for the villain, Ben. The plot twist choked me up a bit, making his prior actions a bit clearer.

Overall, I recommend this novel to fans of magical, witchy reads!

Just finished reading yet another book in this fantastic witch's coven series, set up in Coon Hollow and this time the book centres around Yule and the tree mystic/forest sage called Larena. She is a young woman totally dedicated to her beloved mother who is suffering from dementia and goes from bad to worse daily, she is also running debts she has no idea how to pay off and further more she is being threatened that upon her mother's death she would be losing both her home and land and her shop which she dearly loved. Sibeal Soot one of the seers of the coven is working against her in doing her best to get her land sold off and in putting a curse on her which made her lose her magical abilities. However though things look dark at the moment and Larena is becoming disheartened by all the negativity surrounding her life many are trying to help her including her dear grandfather, Shando, the King of the Summer Fae Court, Logan and Keir from the coven and her friend Betty who is such a dependable shoulder to lean on in her time of grief for her mother! If she lets her feelings of anger and vengeance take over she risks to lose everything however can she retain her compassion and positivism in the face of all that she is facing? She so needs to turn her life around and to open herself to love and friendship especially during this time of grief. This was yet another beautifully written book, I am so in love with this series which though dealing with the same characters of the coven, can be read as standalone novels each dealing with a new member in every book. As usual good wins over evil and this is so satisfying, both good and evil magic are so well depicted in the books and the Fae give us all an added bonus, their magic is beautiful and different. Look forward to the next book in the series.

Larena was a tree mystic, taking care of her ailing mom and struggling over long work hours to keep their antique home furnishings business running. Communicating with the furniture and wooden objects that had known her over the years kept her from being so lonely. She looked through the day’s mail and spotted a letter from a law firm. It was an offer from the Kilfoyle Corporation to purchase the 5 acres of their land?? If they didn’t agree to sell, they would invoke eminent domain and take the property anyway.

Sibeal Soot, newly appointed to the Coven Council, showed up at Larena’s store and told her they would be taking the land for a shopping center. Sibeal, whose family was no longer wealthy, would get a percentage of the sale, so she had to make this happen. But Larena stood up to her and refused to sell. There would definitely be difficult times ahead now! Would Larena be able to stand up to the councilwoman? Was she strong enough to push back, despite the other pressures she faced at home?

This was a richly detailed book that invited the reader to settle in and experience the life in Coon Hollow, along with the characters who resided there. The magic was fascinating, with each type of witch having their own style of magic and abilities. The inanimate objects being able to communicate was my favorite. The way the tables groaned when an envelope was put on them made me chuckle, and Larena would gently rub the surface to soothe the wood. Larena was someone the reader could easily respect. Grab a copy of this book and find out how she overcomes all of the obstacles in her way. It is a good book and worthy of reading.

Oh dear, this was a perfect book for me. Plenty of action, witches, fae, spirits and a wonderful story. Lorena has the weight of the world on her shoulders, without any help from her brother. I didn't care for him and unless there are major circumstances for his behavior, I don't want to try. Being my first book by Ms Moore and not knowing about any other relationships, I saw several possibilities I thought might be a good fit for Lorena. However, after all is said and done, I liked who she chose. This girl had to work hard for every break she got. As much as I hated Sibeal, I had fond feelings for Gilman. I loved her Grandpa and the house furniture. That was so cute and she always had some company. I cried at her conversation with her mom and laughed when she found her dad. This was so very good. I just can't say anymore about what I liked without spoilers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This was a well-written, entertaining book. Lorena is a tree mystic, struggling to hang on to the family home, and taking care of her aging mother. A corporation is trying to claim her land with the help of an unscrupulous witch. Reid, a representative of the corporation, meets with Lorena to discuss the proposed purchase. Lorena and Reid are surprised to find themselves attracted to each other despite being on opposing sides. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is part of a series with related characters. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more books in this series as well as others by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Love this book in the continuing Coon Hollow Coven Series. Since each book is a standalone it is fun to peep into the series with whichever one suits my fancy. Although I must admit I have enjoyed each one. This one was a welcome change with the type of powers this witch has and the problems she faced. It even points to love not sexual but spiritual love and compassion being a major point. The lessons are deep and the torture oh so thrilling with each page of the book. Sometimes a little slow with an abundance of info but then you see why it was needed. All in all a wonderful read with characters that keep you hooked. This author and the Hidden Cove community she has built is always so enjoyable and intriguing.

I loved this book, this is such a great series and one that I would highly recommend to anyone like me, who enjoys paranormal romance about witches. It is also a read alone, so although it may mention characters of the previous books it's not one where you would feel you were missing out on the story line, in fact, you could read these books in any order and still thoroughly enjoy them. I actually read book 3 first and enjoyed it so much I went back and read the first two books. This author really delivers every time, her descriptions are brilliant and she really draws you into the story and keeps you wanting more. I truly hope with this being book 4 that it's not the end of the series.

I am addicted to reading books about witches and Marsha Moore is one of my go to authors. Each of er books are unique and have twists and turns you don't expect. She also writes the best and most interesting characters both human and non-human.
In this book Larena, a tree mystic, is in danger of losing her family home being forced to either sell or have it taken from her with the help of a witch inside of Coon Hollow. All appears to be lost until..........
It is one of those books that you want to finish so you can see how it ends but at the same time you want to savor to make it last longer.

I just love going to Coon Hollow! The people there are unique. They all dress and drive cars from the 1930's. That is when the coven was founded. In this story Larena is battling people who want her land. She also cares for her aging mother, who has dementia. With so much going on, can she overcome the fear, hate, desolation she feels to save her land? This story is one to sink your teeth into. Feel the range of emotions. But you will not be disappointed!

Larena is a woman that has her own life on her back. She still tries to feel fulfilled. I really enjoyed her way of being - staying strong but yet feminine.
Reid - he was a mystery to me but what will happen when he discovers the dirty secret of his brother? And what is on Larena that he feels something for her? No, it's not an insta-love thing.
This book is full of magic, obstacles, dealing with bad luck and some fae with smooth action.

I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. I really liked Larena and Reid. You never knew what they were going to do. Magic, mystery and mayhem all in one book. Wouldn't it be great to talk to wood and place magic in it? This story kept you on your toes, it made me laugh and cry. I would recommend this to everyone who loves reading paranormal stories. A paranormal romance filled with witches, faves and humans. A bad, greedy witch against a good witch. You know who wins but you still have to love the ending.

A Wood Witch meets her fate.

The Coon Hollow Tales are very pleasant reading. In this one the only Wood Witch in the coven, Larena, comes under attack from Sibeal a friend of the ex coven leader, Adara. Sibeal intends to take Larena's property from her in order to save herself from poverty. She manages to block Larena's magic and put her into an untenable position where she has no money. This causes no end of distress as Larena's mother has Dementia and is close to death.
In this story we meet the King of the Summer Court of the Fae, an enchanted grove and many other magical people and situations.

Marsha A. Moore hits another home run!

I have absolutely no idea how Marsha A. Moore keeps cranking out these prize-winning novels, but she has it all under control! Imagine, a witch who can talk to wood! I just couldn’t put this book down waiting to see how Larena was going to win over the Coven’s evil seer, Sibeal. I won’t give away any of the fun, but take my word for it, you don’t want to miss this story!

A Great Story with a Happy Ending

This entire series is a nice break from the drama and suspense of most magical mysteries. The Coon Hollow Coven books have plenty of interesting characters and a great story arc, but the people are good, the magic is fun, and there's always a surprise. I have enjoyed all of them so far.

Once again Marsha A. Moore has given us a great read in her Coon Hollow Coven Tales. Every book is centered around a different character but previous characters will show up in each of the books as well. Her witches are people that i would love to meet someday.
