Een prentenboekje over dictatorschap, dat is stevige kost voor kinderen. Helaas wel urgent. De kinderen van nu zijn de kiezers van morgen en ik hoop met heel mijn hart dat ze slimmer kiezen dan 'wij' nu. En dat duidelijk mag zijn dat een dictatuur niet per se direct met een dictator begint, ook een democratisch gekozen volksvertegenwoordiger kan zich ontwikkelen tot een dictator. Als ik om mij heen kijk hou ik mijn hart vast. Nu zijn vluchtelingen de oorzaak van alle ellende, morgen trans vrouwen en mannen en overmorgen... jij, ik, onze kinderen?
Beangstigend.

Esse livro faz parte de um total de 4 e foi publicado em 1977 na Espanha no período de transição entre a ditadura franquista e o processo democrático e tem como objetivo instruir o pequeno leitor. Reeditado pelo selo Boitatá percebemos como permanece atualíssimo!
As ilustrações são lindas e muito explicativas, o texto é mínimo mas altamente didático e contundente, límpido e transparente. Para ser lido e discutido com as crianças, a História pode ser assimilada desde cedo.

I'd recommend this book to kids who want to know about a dictatorship. It'll be a Filipino class in itself as well given that its translation isn't mainstream Tagalog. Excited to give this to my students and have a discussion with them. The illustrations provide more clarity.

Un livre jeunesse sur le thème de la dictature, un projet qui m'a tout de suite interpellée ... j'avais envie de savoir comment on pouvait aller à l'essentiel pour la jeunesse et je suis convaincue.
Le texte de cet album est simple et ciselé, efficace et percutant, et suscite la réflexion.
"Le monsieur qui dicte tout, c'est le chef. Il règne sur tous les citoyens parce qu'il possède TOUS les biens. Soutenu par quelques-uns...il agit contre la volonté de presque tous."
L'album reprend le texte publié pour la 1ère fois en 1977 en espagnol sous le titre Asi es la dictatura. Dans cette édition, les illustrations soutiennent très justement le texte et explicitent clairement le propos défendu. J'aime les couleurs vives en contraste avec le noir pour évoquer la menace. La page "Tout le monde lui obéit parce que tout le monde a peur de lui" en est un bon exemple : un fond noir où se détachent des barreaux de prison placés devant deux yeux tristes. Mêmes yeux que l'on retrouve cachés dans des maisons pour souligner que le calme règne dans les villages parce que le dictateur contrôle tout. "Personne ne se plaint et personne ne proteste."
On retrouve ce même choix pour le contraste formes rondes et géométriques, qui souligne la raideur et le goût du grandiose des dictatures. Bref, c'est un album utile qui peut susciter le débat chez des enfants d'une dizaine d'années. J'ai bien aimé les pages réservées à cet effet : Et toi qu'en penses-tu ?
Je remercie Babelio et les éditions Rue de l'échiquier de m'avoir choisie pour la lecture privilégiée de ce bel album dont j'aime beaucoup la couverture si explicite. Je suis curieuse de découvrir les réactions de jeunes enfants sur ce sujet.

En kort bok som på ett förenklat sätt förklarar vad en diktatur är. Längst bak i boken finns diskussionsfrågor och bilder på olika diktatorer. En bra bok att använda i tex undervisning när man först introducerar diktaturer/statsskick.

Wonderfully illustrated childrens book that clearly explains, not only to children, what a dictatorship is and what it's dangers are. Sadly such a book, originally written in Spain, 2 years after the end of the Franco regime, is still very relevant today.

"Ito ang Diktadura" is another filipino edition of a spanish series of books (Libros para Manaña) created by Equipo Plantel.
This tome is about dictatorship which the author himself has experienced. I cannot say i experienced it too because i was a child under the Marcos regime. But when i have grown a little to understand them, i have heard the cruel and sad stories of the less fortunate victims but i have heard some insights too of the positive side. I do not judge because i know history can only teach us lessons.
But i digress. Dictatorship is a crazy government as the book points out. Because dictators are that egomaniacal. And the supporters of these dictators are equally if not less selfish. Still there are dictatorships on other countries. But i believe true education is still the key to end it and to evolve to a better society.

I chose this book for my children's lit class requirement of an analysis of a childrens book. This interesting book is translated into filipino for the young filipino readers. What makes it more interesting and intriguing, is that the filipino translation was published by a publishing company that was born out of a dictators' interest. The publishing house was once under the control of a dictator that is also included in the list of dictators that was illustrated inside the book. It is very easy to understand, and something easy to explain to a child's mind as to what a dictator really is.

Dit prentenboek is geschreven voor wat oudere kinderen (9 jaar e.o.) én iedereen die even een samenvatting wil lezen van wat er nu eigenlijk gebeurt –op dit moment! Bedenk dat dit al geschreven is in 1977, twee jaar nadat dictator Franco overleed. Soms zijn er maar heel weinig woorden nodig om de vinger heel precies erop te leggen. De geweldige stijl van de afbeeldingen onderstrepen het geheel nog eens goed. IJzersterk in duidelijkheid.

Gelezen en aangeschaft voor onze schoolbieb in het kader van burgerschapsonderwijs. Misschien ook wereldwijd uitdelen zodra er weer gestemd moet worden, want het is bedroevend (zwak uitgedrukt, ik loop met een fikse knoop in mijn maag rond!!) om te zien hoeveel dictators, wannabe dictators en 'leiders' die ontkennen dat ze zich hiernaar gedragen er rondlopen. Het aantal dictators is -niet!- gedaald sinds 1977...

Wat alarmbellen uit het boek:

'In alle dictaturen is het verboden om na te denken. Je mag alleen denken wat de dictator wil dat je denkt.'

'Maar sommigen worden vrienden met hem, alleen omdat het hen goed uitkomt. En daarom verdedigen zij hem: omdat hij de rijken nog rijker laat worden.
Soms is hij heel gul voor de zijnen en geeft hun dingen cadeau terwijl ze niet van hem zijn: hij geeft land dat van anderen is, kent prijzen toe; hij geeft hun dingen die, eigenlijk, van iedereen zijn.'

'De dictator is de wet (omdat alleen hij wetten maakt).
En hij is ook de rechtspraak (alleen zijn vrienden kunnen rechter worden).
Hij wil ook de baas spelen in het leger en in het onderwijs...
En in de fabrieken, op het platteland, op de kantoren...

Hij zegt dat het beter is zo.
Omdat zo de wijken, de dorpen, de steden en het land rustig zijn;
omdat niemand klaagt en omdat niemand protesteert.'

'Hij is heel trots op ZIJN land. Want het land is van HEM.
Daarom houdt hij parades...
Geeft feesten...
Houdt toespraken...
Ondertussen zijn de mensen boos, angstig, arm, uitgebuit...'

A good intermediate picture book for Grade 5 and 6 Araling Panlipunan. The translation of the book just doesn’t have the Adarna feel to me, which has always been about how playful it is even if the subject matter can be serious. There are moments in the book that could be played out in a more satirical way that might broaden the horizon of the book to a younger audience, but I guess the original text does not call for such interpretations.

Though it poses some challenges for young readers when it comes to comprehension, because it isn’t really that engaging of a kids book, I feel like this can be such an important book to develop curiosities for kids. That the system they live in can be complicated, but knowing what’s right and what’s wrong about our system can be just as easy. I think the book is a challenge for our Filipino creative writers to create stories about the current mess that is our political situation that fit the zeitgeist and needs of Filipino kids. Because Lord knows we need to learn from kids in order to get out of this mess.

Comprei esse livro no Festival de Livros da USP.

Achei a idéia incrível: explicar algo tão pesado e complexo como a ditadura de uma forma lúdica para que crianças consigam compreende-la.

Em momentos de um fascismo crescente como o que vemos atualmente no Brasil em que já está havendo truculencia policial, cerceamento de direitos, e censura da cultura, esse livro se torna cada vez mais necessário.

Também amei as ilustrações estilo anos 50.

Informatief boek over dictatuur. Ik vind hem zelf qua informatievoorziening mager. Het zou een themaboek kunnen zijn ondersteunend in een thema, maar het lijkt mij niet het hoofdboek. Wat ik er goed aan vind is het niveau waarop het is geschreven. Daardoor vind ik het (ook) geschikt voor de middenbouw.

因為是繪本的緣故吧，篇幅很短，信息一目了然，適合未接觸到公民教育的小朋友閱讀，非常容易理解。

「所有的獨裁體制都不准人思考。只能思考獨裁者認為可以思考的事情。」「那些思想不同的人是不行的，而且會遭受虐待。那些不光是想，而且還說出來的人下場更慘。」

看看被中共控制下的中國，人民沒有思考的自由，更沒有質疑執政黨的權力，無數有思想的人在這片窪地沉淪。獨裁者死了，這個國家真的能順利走向民主化嗎？很難說，目前從我觀察來看，我是持悲觀態度的。
