Helping a friend in need is never a wrong move. And Saul knows the value of his friends. When he’s called to find Benji’s missing brother, Daniel – he’s on it.
Only Daniel might be involved in something a lot darker than avoiding his brother’s phone calls. At least according to Rebel who’s been haunting Daniel’s apartment, looking for her missing girlfriend.
When the bodies start showing up, Rebel is terrified her friend will be next…
And that’s not something she’s going to sit by and allow. No matter if Saul thinks she should. He needs to get out of her way or she’ll run right over him. The trouble is, it doesn’t take long for her to realize he’d like that – and so would she.
Now if only they could save their friends…before the entire mess blows up and takes them all out.

This book is part of the Heroes for Hire series and can be read on it's own but some of the references (especially all the references to Heroes) make more sense if you read the series. Similar to the other books, Saul is feeling as though he will never find his "one" even as all of his team mates are finding love. However, once he meets Rebel, he knows that she is definitely different from all the other women he has met over the years. This book was a bit different in that Rebel isn't the one needing help for herself but instead she needs help for a friend. It just so happens that her missing friend is connected to a mission that Saul is currently working. Either way, Saul is more than willing to help and then protect Rebel. Even as Rebel is trying to convince Saul that she doesn't need a man to protect her. With another enjoyable entry in the series, Dale Mayer continues to add more potential Heroes to Levi's unit ensuring more books to come.
To those employed by Legendary Security, loyalty is everything, therefore friends are considered family, and that extends to their families as well. So when Benji, a friend and former teammate, calls and says his brother, Daniel, is missing, Levi and Ice send help, and one of those is Saul.
Rebel may not have family in the true sense of the word, but Tammy, her best friend, is the closest thing to it, so when Tammy disappears, Rebel will stop at nothing to find her.
When Rebel comes across Saul and his co-workers while looking for Tammy, though she's instantly suspicious, the guys quickly alleviate her fears. As Saul and Rebel begin working together, their attraction continually grows, as does the danger to Rebel. Someone isn't happy with her nosiness and is determined to ensure she's no longer in their way.
What happened to Tammy? Is Daniel to blame? Or is someone else responsible? If so, who and why? Do they have other reasons for the attacks against Rebel? Or are they just scare tactics? How long will Saul and Rebel resist their desire for one another? Will they rescue Tammy? What about Daniel? When the case is solved, what does that mean for Saul and Rebel? Will they continue building a relationship? Or was it always meant to be short-term? Has another Legendary Security member found his one?
One-click now and follow along as two people meet while separately looking into a disappearance, and fall in love along the way.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
This pretty much fell in line with the other books in the series, the only difference are the characters but that's it. I will admit the disappearance of Tammy and Daniel had me very intrigued. During that part of the story, this was definitely a page turner. Rebel was an extremely loyal friend, we could all use a friend like her in our lives. Saul..typical member of Levi's team.
Again I was disappointed to see the female uproot her life and move to Texas. I mean I can understand wanting to be with the one you love but I think Ms. Mayer has fallen into a rut. Everything that happens in this series with these couples is pretty much a given, so easy to skim through those parts. It would be nice to see her change it up a bit, that way the reader can be surprised instead of accurately predicting how these couple are going to end up.
This is a great book with an interesting story, dynamic characters and plenty of suspense. This is the first book by this author I have read and it won't be my last.
I was provided a copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.
We continue the pattern of all the men in Legendary Security pairing off. This time, it's Saul's turn. He and three of the others are dispatched to California to search for a SEAL buddy's brother who is missing. In searching for Daniel, they come across Rebel, who is looking for her best friend who was last known to be with Daniel. Rebel is extremely tenacious and won't just let Saul and his team find Daniel without making sure she's searching for Tammy as well. So she follows them around until they sort of accept her presence.
The mystery part of the story was good. It was interesting how they found pieces along the way, but just enough to keep them moving in a forward direction. And when Saul and Rebel got together, it was cute, but this is another one where it was just confusing that they got together. I mean they were paired up from the start, but it's not like Saul ever thought she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen, or even that he was somehow drawn to her. And likewise with Rebel... she didn't really admire his form or internally comment on feeling any tingles when he's around or anything. Even the couple of kisses seemed out of the blue and awkward to me. And then, suddenly after they've slept together (just slept -- she was in shock and he just held her while they slept), she's 100% ready to have sex with him in the morning, and she's instigating it. No real build-up, just "let's go while we have time". So for me, my rating is based more on the story than on the relationship. I just wish there was a hint of attraction before they start the horizontal mambo, you know?
A fast paced, exciting military romance, Saul's Sweetheart is anything but sweet, but Saul likes everything that he sees in Rebel. When Saul and his team go in search of their comrade's missing brother, they find more than they bargained for. What at first seemed an open and shut case, begins to unravel the moment they set foot on the scene where they find Rebel creeping around the perimeter. After their first confrontation, they realise that they are both investigating the same matter, although looking for different people and from different angles. As the case becomes more convoluted and unexpected bodies start piling up, Rebel and the team realise that no one is safe. Through it all, Rebel's determination to find her best friend Tammy makes Saul and the other Heroes realise that she has more in common with them than at first glance. Although the romance built between Rebel and Saul, it took a back seat to the investigation until such time as Rebel herself becomes a victim. After that there are no holds barred and Saul will do whatever it takes to protect the feisty woman he has fallen for. This is another thrilling story by Dale Mayer, and very entertaining reading. I voluntarily am reviewing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book that I received through Shifted Sheets Book Promotions.
Benji, a friend from their old unit needs help. His brother Daniel has gone missing and Levi is sending a team to find out what happened to him. Saul, Merk, Stone and Dakota are the team sent in. What they didn't expect was someone else staking out his apartment.
Rebel's been watching Daniel's apartment looking for any clue she can find about her friend Tammy's disappearance. She was leaving Daniel's and going home promising to call Rebel when she got there. She never called.
Saul is the one to catch up with Rebel and when they all start talking things start coming out that lead the guys to believe something a lot bigger is going on.
Tammy and Daniel were both programmers at the same company as Rebel, although she was in marketing and not privy to what they worked on. She's taken time off to try to find Tammy and the guys are taking all the clues she has to heart.
Bodies start showing up as they get a strange text following that lead and now Saul is staying by her side.
In spite of the conflict of Rebel not liking Daniel and her being more concerned about Tammy, Saul finds himself more than a little attracted.
I love the way the suspense and the romance build in this book, gradually getting hotter until everything bursts into flame.
I can't wait to finish the next book in this series.
Another great story by Dale Mayer about the men of Heroes for Hire. This time it's about Saul and the woman who captures him, Rebel. When Saul is sent to California to look into a fellow SEAL's brother, Daniel, that has disappeared he runs into Rebel who is looking for her BFF Tammy who has also disappeared. All three of them work together and their disappearances are too coincidental. Rebel isn't giving up looking for her friend and ends up joining the men which include Saul. Along the way there is kidnapping, breaking and entering, murder and a lot of questions with no answers. During this time Saul & Rebel become close and she trusts him and ends up leaning on him during the tough times, not knowing whether her friend is alive or not. Will they solve the mystery and find her friend alive? A great read with action, suspense, lust/love and a strong, loyal, fierce woman who will do anything to find her friend and a man who finally meets the one that completes him. I so enjoy all these books by Dale Mayer as they are free from drama between the couples with enough drama going on around them that gets me hooked each time that I can't put it down till I'm done. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
This is another amazing story in this Hired for Hire series with Saul being sent with Mark, Stone and Dakota to look for one of their own friend Benjj whose brother, Dalton, who they think has been kidnapped in San Diego using Ice's father house, Richard as lodging again. As it turns out Tammy one of Dalton's co-workers and former girlfriend has also been kidnapped. Her best friend, Rebel had been looking for her for over a week and reported her missing with the police. They joined forces since she was determined to find her friend which Saul really liked her fiestiness and friend loyalty. For reasons Saul could not explain he wanted to protect her as she was very confrontational with even the bad guys and borderline crazy. By them all working together with the police they found their friends before the body count got higher. Saul and Rebel even managed to fall in love which surprised them both. In the end the girls were moving to Texas to start over and see where Rebel and Saul's relationship would take them. Levi now feels like he is running a matchmaking service but everyone else just thinks they are all their hero's. I highly recommend this fantastic series and look forward to Dakota's story next.
Rebel is strong and can hold her own with her fighting skills, worried for her missing friend she is determined to find her. Saul and team are looking for Daniel, checking out his apartment they find nothing, going back outside though Saul spots someone lurking. This is intriguing and mysterious, gradually a bit like a jigsaw puzzle little snippets start fitting together giving them things to work on. Exciting and fast paced read that is well written, plenty to keep the interest high. I still love the humour of these guys as they fall one by one, the teasing for each is funny. I do think Levi and Ice are going to have to add a few more extensions to the compound at this rate though, or build more housing in the grounds. Most of the focus is on finding the two people missing and the issues surrounding their disappearance and I really enjoyed this, Rebel stayed quite strong till near the end working with the guys to try to solve what had happened. The interest between her and Saul only showing more towards the end, even though they stuck close all the way through. Great read and I cant wait for Dakota who is up next.
With each new story we are introduced to an amazing ex soldier and the woman who claims his heart. Sent to help a friend in need Saul finds himself faced to face with a woman who projects the right amount of vulnerability bringing out his need to protect and a core that is hard as steel. Mystery, drama, danger, determination and some good ole ribbing from friends send Saul down the road of becoming the next hero to fall joining the hero's of the heart club. I am never disappointed when I pick up one of Ms. Mayer's stories, there is just the right amount of fun, danger and romance to keep you turning the pages while you sit on the edge of your seat. The characters are realistic, easy to like and feel like old friends. The story is easy to follow, although it is not always easy to figure out who the bad guy is until the end making it a challenge to try to be right. :) While dangerous and serious there is just the right amount of humor to make you smile and you just can't help wondering what this lady is going to end up calling Levi's group that will make him cringe. I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion.
I enjoy Dale Mayer's books and Saul's Sweetheart is no exception.
In the military the people you serve with become your friends and family, especially when you're overseas fighting. When you leave the military your military friends and family are still with you and when one of them is in trouble you are more than willing to help out. You never leave a brother behind.
That's how Saul and 3 other Legendary employees end up in California, again. Benji's brother Daniel has gone missing and Benji is shipping out. Saul and his friends go to Daniel's apartment to try and track him down only to find Rebel and a wiped apartment. Rebel is trying to find her best friend Tammy who has been missing for 10 days. The question is did Daniel hurt or kill Tammy and leave on his own or did Tammy and Daniel get taken by someone.
Rebel, true to her name, won't leave the investigation alone and Saul doesn't really want her to. He wants to keep her close for more reasons than one. But can keeping her close protect her from harm? Follow Saul, Rebel, Merk, Stone and Dakota as they stubble across a dead man, a ransacked apartment and more bad guys than they know what to do with.
Saul was kind of new to the team, he’s not the original gang, but he’s as bad-ass as the others. Rebel was our heroine that got tangle up in one of the team’s mission.
As other books in this Heroes for Hire series, the book was fast-paced, packed with action and quite light on the romance, compare to other RS genre books that is. However, I actually really like this kind of set up. I do love heartfelt hot romance, but in RS books I prefer it to be on the light side with no over-the-top drama so I could concentrate on the suspense / mystery part of the book. This particular book really focused on the suspense, with only simmering romance in more than the first half of the book. The steamy romance came at the last leg of it.
All in all, an enjoyable fast read, a good addition to the series. If you look for a quick RS read, then Saul’s Sweetheart (and all Heroes for Hire book actually) definitely worth your time and money.
I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm sorry it took so long. The story is wonderful. The characters are unforgettable and engaging. In the very beginning, I wasn't really sure if I was going to like Rebel as much as I did. Her best friend, Tammy, and the guy she was seeing, Daniel, go missing. Daniel happens to be the little brother of Benji, a member of the Legendary Security team and they are looking into it. They find her lurking outside Daniel's apt and thus begins the adventure. These guys know their jobs and have way more resources than she does, but she is so distraught over her friend she still thinks she can find her all on her own. Saul gets the chore of babysitting her before she gets herself killed. Here she has all these wonderful, hunky, slightly scary and totally capable men looking into their disappearance she still goes off half-cocked. Once she actually starts to listen to Saul, I began to like her a lot more. With the team by her side they find the answers. Outstanding book. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
WOW! Another FANTASTIC story. Saul is one of the newcomers to Levi's team. He is tasked to find the brother of one of the team's friends. Once they arrive in CA, they discover that Daniel's apartment was totally cleaned out and Saul sees a female spying on them. Saul confronts her and discovers that her best friend had been missing for a week and she says Daniel was the last person to see her. Rebel is Leary of the team but trusts them enough to go with them to Daniel's apartment. Rebel tells the guys about her friend, Tammy.
Now, once Rebel tells the guys about her friend, they decide that Danny's disappearance is involved with Daniel's disappearance. As I continue to read, the story gets more intense as the team start finding they are being followed as well as find a dead body. The last few chapters definitely make you feel on the edge of your seat. I am happy that Saul found his soulmate and that these two found their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Dale! I would recommend this book.
Saul Kreschner is a recent transplant from California to Texas for Legendary Security. He's now doing a mission to help a fellow SEAL to find his missing brother Daniel. The team consists of Stone, Merk, and Dakota. The team encounters a hiccup in their plans in searching for Daniel. A named Rebel Matheson is looking for her best friend Tara. She's hoping that the team can help her find her friend or at least point her in the right direction. The team soon realizes that both missing persons are related and need to work together to find the pair. Along the way, Saul becomes very attached to Rebel and her determination in finding Tara. Can they work together? Why were Daniel and Tara taken? Your answers await you in Saul's Sweetheart.
I don't know what makes this series work but it does in spades. The characters and story are rich, bold, raw, complicated, complex, compelling, intriguing, honest, mysterious, and brave. I can't wait for my next adventure in this series.
Saul and his team are sent to California to look into the disappearance of Benji’s brother Danny. Benji is another SEAL however he is a mission and can’t go himself. They decide his apartment is best place to start and that’s where they find Rebel who is trying to locate her best friend Tammy who was last seen at Daniel’s apartment and she blames him for her disappearance.
They would like Rebel to go home while they investigate but they soon realize that is better to have her with them rather than following them. The trail leads them on an adventured filled with intrigue, suspense, twists and greed. Along the way feelings develop between Rebel and Saul but what happens when the mission ends?
I loved the characters as Rebel is loyal, determined and brave while Saul is protective and strong. I voluntarily read an advance copy.
This book was just as enjoyable as the 7 before it. Dale Mayer really knows how to put a story together and this one was another home run for her. Maybe it was a little more stressful since we had no idea what was going to happen next or if Daniel and Tammy would be found alive, why they had been kidnapped and just when you thought it was finally over, BAM!
This book sucked me into the story right from the beginning and held me there until the very end. The chemistry between Rebel and Saul was lighting in a thunderstorm although it took them a while to realize it.
If you enjoy mystery, murder, kidnapping and some steamy scenes thrown in, I highly recommend this book, series and author. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC of this book and gave it a five (5) star rating since I felt it was very well written.
Saul’s Sweetheart by Dale Mayer Heroes for Hire Series Book Eight Saul Kreschner is heading back to San Diego with three other guys to find Daniel, a SEAL's brother, while Benji is on a mission. Sure enough, Daniel is missing but it turns into a much bigger case when they find out another woman is missing too.
Rebel Matheson has been watching Daniel's apartment in hopes of finding out what happened to her best friend, Tammy. When four really big men show up, she figures it can't be good. Ends up to be very good when the men believe her and add Tammy to their search for Daniel.
The bigger they are...the harder they fall. In this case, in love. And of course, the women are just loving their heroes. **Sexual content and language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Saul is a member of a team searching for SEAL Benji’s missing brother Daniel, but it then it appears that he is involved in something much darker after finding Rebel who is hanging around Daniel's apartment looking for her missing best friend Tammy. As bodies start to pile up Rebel is terrified it will be Tammy next. Saul and the team would prefer it if Rebel left it to them to find them both but there is no way she is going to sit back and so he finds himself protecting her too. Can they find Daniel and Tammy alive and why is Saul so drawn to Rebel?
I loved this story which had the right mixture of a mystery, drama, danger and romance. I enjoyed the way feelings for Rebel just crept up on Saul and as it became more inevitable he switched to being fully committed to it. Well written and very enjoyable.
The hero is asked to go and look for a SEAL's brother as he didn't meet him as they had planned and had disappeared. The SEAL had a mission and needed to leave so called friends of his and they sent the hero and another to check it out.
The heroine has had a friend disappear. The friend was supposed to spend the weekend with a guy but then called the heroine telling her she was leaving early and then disappeared. As she was trying to find her friend the hero shows up. The end up working together to find the others, and end up finding each other.
The heroine won't be coddled and won't let her friend just be forgotten either. Together they go through thick and thin to get them back. However, the sizzle and attraction the hero and heroine face might not be enough or will it?
Saul Kreschner and the team from Legendary Security have to travel to the west coast to find a missing person. The job soon turns into much more, and the danger increases. Rebel Matheson has been trying to find her best friend for days. When the big guys turn up, she knows it can't be good. Our kickass heroine will not be look left out if the search no matter how dangerous it gets. Our hero and his team will do whatever it takes to track down the culprits. A very exciting romantic suspense. The action is non stop, even our characters don't get time to sleep. All of the books in this series can be read alone but you will meet a few if the characters from the previous stories. I loved it. The next book in the series is out in just a few days.
Saul is sent along with Merk, Dakota and Stone to California to help a fellow SEAL find his brother. Saul never expects to fall for Rebel, who is looking for her friend Tammy. Tammy was last seen with the brother of the SEAL they are helping. Now the team hooks up with Rebel and the bodies add up.
Rebel is aptly named and is feisty, loyal, and full of attitude. She could be a SEAL as she tough as nails, an Amazon like Ice but not as well trained as Ice.
Saul is perfect for her but he needs to realize that.
This was a great story and full of action. Rebel needs saving but she can also hold her own. I like that about Ms. Mayer's female characters, they are all tough but they all need a hero.
Rebel is trying to find her missing friend Tammy and Saul and his friends are trying to locate another seal's brother in this action packed adventure. Rebel lives up to her name. She defies everything Saul tells her do, but she is loyal, trustworthy, gusty and brave and she is very determined. Everything a seal admires. Saul tries to fight his attraction to her, but Levi's Heroes' knocks another one down. I love this series and love these hardcore men with their softer sides. I can't help but chant more, more, more! You can't go wrong with this book or series. I was given a copy of this book and volunteered to read it.
'Saul's Sweetheart' was an action packed, thrilling read. The storyline was well written and played out well. Saul, just like every SSI employee, is bad-ass and loyal to a fault. I love his analytical mind. He, like the preceding members of SSI, got blindsided by the fact that a basic mission can bring forth a mate. And man is Rebel an ideal name for her. She's fiercely loyal and when she finds someone worthy of her complete trust and friendship she sticks to it. She turns out to be a force to be reckoned with. I can't wait to read the next book in the 'Hero For Hire Series'. A must add to your tbr list.
I loved the mystery and intrigue of this story. Rebel is tough and loyal, and she's looking for her best friend and co-worker who has disappeared. Saul is a former Seal working for a special agency. His group is looking for the missing brother of one of his Seal friends. As Rebel and Saul work with his group to find the two missing people, they realize that something dangerous is going on, and Rebel is in danger also. I loved the twists and turns to this story. It was great when Rebel went up against a few of the bad guys and kicked their you know what. She'll do whatever she has to to get her friend back, even risk her own life.
As I read more books in this series I am just continually amazed by the imagination of the author. These storylines and plots are excellent. Every book is different and as a reader you never feel that it is more of the same.
This book especially was so interesting and kept me glued to the pages to discover what was going on. Industrial Espionage seems a cut-throat world and the heroes had their hands full protecting Rebel and finding the missing persons. Gripping stuff.
I would recommend this book to all lovers of romantic suspense. It is a thrilling read!
Thank you to the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.
Another Hero's for Hire story, this time it's Saul's story. This one was suspenseful with quite a bit of action.
What I liked:
Loved the characters, old and new. All were very well written. Rebel was a great heroine. She was very dedicated to her friend and fit in well with the team. This one was a little lite on the romance until later in the book, but they had a good relationship once it started.
I like the story in this series as the men learn that they have found their one true love!
I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.
Saul's team is sent to investigate the disappearance of a comrad Benji's brother, Daniel. Rebel is looking for her missing friend, Tammy and is convinced Daniel is somehow involved. Can Saul and his team help her find out what happened to her friend? Can she trust Saul? You will definitely want to read this and find out!
I really enjoyed this book and loved the characters. I voluntarily read an advance reader's copy and gave this rating based upon the sole contents of the book.
This is book eight in the Hero's for Hire Series featuring Navy Seals. Saul is called in to help find his fellow seals missing brother. He finds that his girl friend is also missing when he finds a woman hiding out at the apartment. Her name is Rebel and she is looking for her friend Tammy. Rebel's life is in danger and Saul finds her attractive and will do anything to protect her. No shortage of danger, suspense or chemistry. Fast paced and lots of action in typical seal fashion. A good book that was fun to read. I received an advance reader copy and voluntarily chose to review it.
