this is book 2 in the series and it picks up directly where book one leaves off, with Maya in the Baron's domain and facing her wedding to him, while she has no feelings for him. She faces mysterys and peril at every turn as well as trying to find Bridgitt the baron's first wife so she can somehow get out of this arranged marriage.
this book has an amazing plot, that will have you up late and clamoring to read the next book the moment you finish this one to see what happens next!

A Soul's Surrender is the 2nd book in the Voodoo Revival series and, sorry to say it ladies but it can't be read as a stand alone. Believe me, I tried to do so and got so very confused about many situations the heroine was facing and references to certain characters. Therefore, start with A Soul's Sacrifice. A Soul's Surrender continues with the story of Maya Thibodeau, who has gone through hell and back to try to keep her friend safe and deal with the shadow spirits that want to ruin her chance at a normal life. In the first book, we saw how she stopped the bad guy, saved her friend and fell in love with Rhys. Nevertheless, there was a price to pay...there is always a price to pay. A contract signed sealed her fate by pulling her into the Land of the Dead, keeping her away from everything and everyone she holds dear.
This book was one heck of a ride. I couldn't help but shout out loud at the characters every now and then. I so wished for a happy ending in the past book and this one but I know things will be boring if they ended to fast. In this book, I was so frustrated at some characters. The Baron Samedi, for example. On the other hand, I couldn't help but be hurt every time Maya was facing more trouble. I truly love the way the author portrayed, it made me relate to her so much. I wanted her to be happy, she deserves it.
I highly recommend this novel to any paranormal romance lovers that want are in for ride full of twists, romance, and a journey you will never forget.

What a perfect followup to the first book in the series. Mya has found the love of her life through unexpected circumstances, saved her best friend from the demons bent of driving her crazy and killing her, and she's made lifelong friends who become more like family. But nothing is as it seems, as Baron Samedi makes a deal with her in exchange for not destroying people she loves. She will be forced to marry him and live with him in the Land of the Dead. With a limited amount of time to find a way out of her predicament and back to the world of the living and the man she loves, she makes friends, travels to dangerous places and undermines the Baron at every turn. With the help of someone special who is also trapped in Baron Samedi's frightening world, she might just have a chance at the happiness she wants. But with the power she holds stemming from her ancestors, Baron Samedi isn't going to make it easy on her. And not all of her friends are what they seem.
I enjoyed this story so much. The author's depiction of the Land of the Dead and its occupants was thorough and elaborate. All of the characters she met while there were brilliant and fascinating. Her characters are rich, vivid and intense, and I had a hard time putting the book down. Can't wait to read the next one.

Wow the second book in this series proved to be every bit as exciting as I thought it would be! It continues straight after book 1 finishes and we finally find out just what Baron wants with Maya and it is not what I expected! I loved all the twists and turns in the stories – there were many times when I questioned just who Maya could trust. The writing in this story went to the next level! I thought that the author did an amazing job! I desperately wanted Maya to get back and be with Rhys again, they were just so perfect together. Throughout all the twists and turns in the story we see Maya really begin to use her magic to try and stop Baron, find his wife and put a halt to his plans. Just when I thought the story was over another twists comes along and the epilogue set us up nicely for the next book in the series.
If you are a fan of paranormal/fantasy romance novels then I would highly recommend this series! Great characters, great storyline and well written!

Omg. After a souls sacrifice I didn't think Victoria could get any better but I was wrong. I couldn't put this book down, the only problem I have is that I have to wait for the next book!

Maya Thibodeau has gone from the frying pan to the fire! Poor girl cannot catch a break. Dragged into the Land of the Dead by Baron Samedi, Maya doesn’t know who to trust and with good reason. The Loas all have their own agenda, Samedi’s being the most nefarious. Maya thinks the Baron wants to make her his wife but that’s the least of her concerns.
Maya really comes into her own in book 2. Baron Samedi’s plans come to light as Maya is forced to marry him. Secrets about her lineage come to the surface as well. Hang onto your socks for that bombshell!
A Soul’s Surrender picks up immediately where Book 1 ended. It’s a fast paced and at times a white knuckle read. I cannot wait for Book 3 in the series.
