Generous and gorgeous reproductions of truly memorable art, and thoughtful & germane critical commentary. I really relished this show in Philadelphia all those years ago, as the song goes. It was beautiful to see it on the faces of all the people...he was slaying left and right...it was like seeing God clean House after the Angels fell...

This was very much like a real lesson in art history. Practically no information about the artist itself, but a lot of fascinating details and meticulous analysis of his art. Also life-changing. someone in high school said "you'd like him...he paints with lead". Painted on mythic subjects on epic scale; 24x12 ft.

a favorite artist, I love everything about him and his work. It is enormous and encompassing, and if feels like you are inside the work when you see it.
