This is one of those sing along books that my sister adored when she was little, but you don't have to sing the words to enjoy the book. The illustrations are really cute and feature a diverse group of kids building a tree house with their robot friend. Simple machines are highlighted throughout the book and there's additional back matter about programming and robots and such. I read this book with a group of two-year-olds and their caregivers. For them, the topic was a bit advanced, but I used a felt board to show each of the tools, to help make it a little more concrete. The pictures are bright but a bit too busy, it is hard to see all the details because of all the bright contrasting colors filling the page. I did like that the book was singable and the different kinds of problems the robot and kids solve together.

Youngsters may enjoy singing along with the CD that accompanies this story of a group of children building a tree house with some help from a robot. As it turns out, he can do almost anything, but he has to be shown how to support a shy little dog. The robot and children use various tools to accomplish their tasks.

Apparently this is supposed to be sung to the tune of London Bridge, but without listening to the CD I was singing it in my head to "This is the way we...". No matter which tune you use, the text is a little awkward.
