The new Hidden Universe Travel Guide to the Klingon Empire, written by prolific Star Trek author Dayton Ward and published by Insight Editions, is a strange beast, and it’s hard to know how to review it. You either like this kind of thing or you don’t, and I really did. So just like this book isn’t your standard type of fiction, this review isn’t your standard type of review. I have instead outlined the six reasons why I think you should get this book.

This book makes The Klingon Empire come alive! Beautiful illustrations and great prose written in Dayton Ward's trademark wit make this a perfect addition to any Trek fan's bookshelf. There are tons of great easter eggs and references for the fan who knows his or her Star Trek backwards and forwards, but this is a great book for the more casual fan, too.

I REALLY enjoyed this book!
To sum up, this travelguide for the Klingon Empire gives the reader info about major cities, places to visit as well as Klingon food, customs and history. Dayton Ward did an excellent job putting all this together in a very readable and engaging book.
This is a must read for any Star Trek fan or anyone interested in world building.

It is much as you would expect - an in-universe guide to traveling within the Klingon Empire from Star Trek. This book pulls its sources from across the entire Star Trek canon - tv, movies, comics and novels as your journey leads you from the First City to various locals around Q'onos and beyond. As you travel, bits of history, lore culture are filtered through. At times, I could almost imagine Rick Steeves (or would it be Riq Stivz?) I was particularly surprised that it included references to ...more

Ask him sometime how well that worked out.
