This book pretty much turned me off on every level. I didn't like the hero, thought he plot was blah, the sex cheesy, and the romance only so-so. I finished reading and was glad that I'd only spend $0.50 on it at a thrift store.

Summary:

Sienna Featherstone has had a rough life. Her mother OD'd, her brother had brain damage from being given drugs at a young age, and Sienna survived several foster homes where she was mistreated and molested. In order to take care of her brother, she started stripping in clubs under then name Sinful Feathers. She ends up in debt to the club's owner, who is a total creep. All she wants is to repay her debt, finish school, and move on with her life. But her boss has other ideas.

While stripping at the club, Sienna meets P.I. Garret McAllister (Mac). They share a passionate night together...then Sienna runs away. It isn't until nearly two years later, when Sienna believes she finally free of her boss, that the two meet again. Mac has never forgotten her, but is angry at her previous desertion. Still, the two can't keep their hands off each other. Then Sienna's ex-boss reenters the picture and puts her life in danger. This time, Sienna finally trusts Mac to help free herself from her ex-boss, and trusts him with her heart.

Review:

I tried to think of the best way to start off this review, and the only thing that kept coming to mind was the word "ugh" because that's how I felt about this book. I don't think there was really anything about it that I liked.

Okay, I did kinda like the heroine. She was a strong woman to have managed to survive what she did and make something of herself. But that's about the only positive thing I can think to say.

I couldn't stand the hero. He was a total jerk Neanderthal, calling her a whore, manhandling her, ordering her around. There's a line between being Alpha and being an asshole. Mac crossed that line and made reading about him and his relationship with Sienna painful to read. I kept hoping Sienna with just smack him and tell him to knock it the fuck off, but she didn't. She let him get away with his crap. Which took away some of my respect for her.

That alone made this book pretty much suck, but I also thought the sex was rather cheesy. The wording came off, at least to me, as over the top. I didn't find the scenes particularly sexy or hot; they mostly bored me and made me shake my head so I skimmed them. Plus, I don't know about anyone else, but I don't really consider the word "vagina" all that erotic, and the author kept using it fairly often, along with the less proper terms for it. Using "vagina" so much seemed out of place in such an "erotic" story. But that' just a personal preference, I suppose.

And as for the storyline...as a fan of suspense plots, this one came off half-assed to me. It felt like it was being told only in pieces and not as a complete plot. And I felt like there were points never addressed that should have been. So I couldn't put much interest in this aspect of the story.

On a last note, I thought it was utterly ridiculous that the heroine is sexually assaulted and then it was never dealt with. It's treated like it never happened. Which is stupid, illogical, and a cop-out.

And that sums up my thoughts. This book was a total downer and I'm glad it was only 250 pages so I was able to finish it quicker.

WARNING, this book contains: explicit sex and language, oral sex, anal sex/ass play, rough sex, the heroine being raped

There isn't always a correlation between how hot the sex scenes are and how good the book is. In this case, however, there definitely is a connection. The sex in this book is supa hot! The story..... not so much. I found myself skimming through the book because the storyline was just boring. There were huge leaps in logic that didn't make sense. She's so concerned about her brother, for instance, that she's just going to go away with someone for the weekend? Or, he's going to TAKE her away for the weekend, but she can still go in to work as a stripper? Please, take me away but make me go to work! Uh....no. If I had to guess, I would say these were two characters who wanted to do nothing but get it on, and Terry was forced to construct a story to weave around that. There was chemistry there, but there didn't appear to be any real feelings. Normally that would be fine, it doesn't HAVE to be a romance book after all. But, that's what it was supposed to be and, in that, it failed.

Flip through this one at the bookstore, read the good parts, and then buy one of her other books (I'm reading one right now that I actually like.) This one isn't worth your recession dollars.

Another DNF. How many books are there in print where the stripper heroine is being held captive by the club owner? Too many, in my opinion. This is my second this year. Mmm, stripper, almost being raped at every turn - and in this book engaging in degrading (but in theory consensual) sex at every turn - in the 100 or so pages I did read - no thank you. And at about the forty fifth reference to her lip as a 'rim' almost drove me crazy. I wanted to run out and by the author a thesaurus.

I actually enjoyed this one more than The Sweet Spot....There was so much chemistry between Mac and Sin....and there was more to this book than just SEX....eventhough it was a HOT and STEAMY read.....The stroyline kept me interested......Would like to read more on Mac's friends Kyle and Runninghorse.....the story they could tell......So again if you are NOT into erotica then this is NOT the book for you......

Don’t waste your time. Fast read and graphic if that is what you want. I couldn’t finish it. I also didn’t like the man chasing to keep her as his could call her a whore like that is ok. Some people enjoy that, I guess. I don’t, I think it sends off the wrong message to us women. I wish it was more empowering for us as women. Maybe I would have seen this had I finished the book, I will never know.

Description: After one night of all-consuming passion, Sin, ends up running away from private investigator, Mac, and her life as a stripper. A year later, he stumbles upon her in her new life as a teacher and their passion for each other explodes again, but will their relationship be able to overcome all the drama from Sin’s past?

The Good: Mind-blowing sex, a complicated back story, and well-plotted suspense makes this novel a serious page turner. Also, one of Mac’s old military associates is not only super-sexy, but also set up well for a book of his own.

The Bad: The character of Sin’s brother is a catalyst but never fully developed. Some readers might find Mac’s extreme alpha male behavior offensive (I didn’t, but I’m just putting it out there). Also, Kensington has not priced the e-book well: despite being over three years old, it costs $8.32.

The Naughty: Agressive sex, rough talk, and anal.

Editing issues: None

Publisher: Kensington Aphrodisia

Length: 304 pages

Final Grade: B

Happy Reading,

This one was just ok. It's not a completely bad read, I've read worse. It just seemed a bit too simple. It had the makings of what could have been a decent story, but was not executed properly. Things were there that should have been left out, and things that you thought would be addressed were not even mentioned! Not enough depth with the characters. The "Love" scenes were more kinky & corny than erotic & emotional. **Gasps** Yes people there is a difference.. I was touched by sienna and her brother Jacob. I felt that their relationship was kinda pushed to the wayside a bit. I would loved to have read more interactions with them. Considering what she had to do for so long to make sure that he was cared for and safe. Mac, IMO although attractive, came off as more needy than the alpha he was suppose to be portraying. I was kinda hoping Sienna would have hooked up with Jake, considering there was obvious crazy chemistry between those two and they knew it.

don't waste your time with this story. In the beginning it had promise, had me interested to see where the story was going, but unfortunately it went no where. The female character is weak and the male is her savior protector. Uneventful read.

The sex was on the top. But I found much of the story to be a bit repetitive and dry. Sienna found her man or should I say Mac found his Sin. The story was intriguing but felt over done and forced in some parts.

Very sexual in content. But in terms of story wise it lacks the elements.
