This is a great read, esp during the season of Lent. "The story of Lazarus is about longings and breakthroughs. It is about unmet expectations and disillusionment with God. It is about overcoming obstacles. It is about facing our disappointments so that we can move forward. It is about freedom and life."

Don't end

It's not often I read a book and long for more of it, I didn't want this book to end. It spoke out to me and after the first few chapters I became hooked I know that we all need transformation in our lives wether we admit it to ourselves or not, it may not be in every area but it is in others. I have to admit I'd welcome transformation in most of mine and I know it may not be in this book but it has plenty of arrows pointing to the way forward, and to where and who it is that delivers. I personally think this is more than a good book and I highly recommend it.

A good book causing me pause for reflection in my spiritual journey. It helped me become aware of areas in my life that Jesus is "calling me out of the tomb" offering me new life. It challenged me to not react when things appear "stuck, unchanging, meh..." but to respond to Jesus, taking the steps to walk to Him when He is calling my name. And the reality when change takes place- removing the grave clothes and leaving the tomb. Well written.

A look at real life thru the eyes of a painting and the life (resurrected) life of one of Jesus' best friends - Lazarus! Stephen Smith shares honestly about his life and opens doors to help us "remove the grave clothes" as Jesus told us too

I thought the premise of this book was wonderful, and there were some passages that really spoke to me and made me think about my own life. Ultimately, however, I got a bit tired of the standard self-help rhetoric which felt almost like biblical imagery laid over everyday makeover suggestions.

Seems useful enough, but I couldn't ever really get into it. Not sure why.

It's a good book that borders on too "self-help" for my tastes, but lots of truth none-the-less.
