For a reader who is advancing beyond the Goosebumps series, this is a nice next step. Bruce is 17 and trying to deal with a new brother and a recent move to the "sticks". After hearing about a demon living in the local lake, he tries to uncover the real mystery behind all the drownings. Dealing with his new brothers popularity, Bruce has to figure out if his family is really as important to him as he's always thought. Filled with suspense but not gore, this book should appeal to preteen/teen readers.
the book i read was the demon in the lake and it was writen by anne schraff. my oppinion of this book interesting and has a brain twister because i thought there was a demon in the lake but it turns out its was a deranged man all in all it was an ok book. so the setting was in modern time but was also in a place called huron springs. the main charecter in the story was bruce finly layne finly and a southern girl named jess. the story began with bruce. the conflict was that there was a mistory about the lake that every one feard there was something in there and that its a demon who drowns people. how the conflic was resolved by alot of hunches an murders. the best part in the story was wen they figured out who the real demon in the lake realy was. a favoret quote in the story was that a man without fear is a man that fears fear or fears his self out of what he become after being fearless, i liked it because it was realatible. i think what the auther was tryen to get across to me was about a man who was suffering because of the fact that his son abandined his own father and caused so much pain and suffed much in abundince an has now died late in the story/ the guys son. this book remines me of the movie saw, its similare because it gets you thinkem one thing but changes in a split second and the story is very twisted. i give the book 3 stars because it wasnt the best but wasnt the worst eather the book gave me the excitement and danger juss not enough of it. but i recomend this book because it has good action and brain twisters in the whole caticlizum of events that had acurd in the spiral sequence an has big mistorys and lots of forshadowing an lastly a good murder scean to an investigation.
It was different book then most of the horror books I've read it has a very interesting story and it does a decent job of keeping you from seeing the ending or guessing the ending it has a lot of shocking and creepy parts to the book which i enjoyed a lot some of the book is kinda boring but i was able to power through because i thought the ending would be good and the ending was decent it was a semi long book only around 150 pages which you could read in a day or two depending on how fats you read overall i thought the book was a average horror story and i would rate it a 6/10.
Wow. This is a great book for the reluctant reader. There is action, unexpected events, modern situations they can relate to, and visual language that keeps the reader turning pages.
