Series Review: ★★★★★
What a legendary series. I’m so happy with this. This is the manga of The Best Anime Ever Created and I’m happy to say it lives up to the hype. It’s maybe not quite as enjoyable as the anime--since it’s lacking the beautiful animation and colours, and some of the gags are funnier in the anime with the incorporation of movement, angles, and better comedic timing--but it’s still definitely up there.

Mob Psycho 100 is about a middle school aged deadpan psychic named Shigeo (ak

It was my first time reading a manga so I had no expectations whatsoever.

THE WORLD: It's a fantasy world where there are spirits out in the world that torment people until they are able to go "to the other side". In order to deal with these spirits there are people with super powers called "Psychics" who use their powers to defeat the spirits and make them go away. The story takes place in modern Japan.

CHARACTERS: The main character is Shigeo Kageyama alias "Mob", a High School student who works

I started reading Mob Psycho 100 after reading the first ten volumes of One Punch Man. An artist I follow on Tumblr has been drawing fanart for this manga for a while and that got me a little curious before I even watched the OPM anime.

Despite knowing how fabulous the story and characters in OPM are, I went through the first chapter tentatively. After that, I suddenly found myself at the end of the volume and hooked.

Like another reviewer said, for a story where the main character is supposedly e

When an awful con artist "medium" comes across real supernatural phenomena he exploits the telekinetic powers of his stupid, oblivious and emotionally stunted apprentice to fight them. Like One's One-Punch Man, Vol. 1, I find the story and art too crude and heavy-handed to enjoy. Strong pass on reading more volumes.

I feel mixed about this first volume. There are some parts that work, and others that seem to get bogged down with immobility and repetition. Not sure I’ll continue with this series. We’ll see...

1%, 10%, 99%, 100%!

Haha, this was as funny as I had hoped it would be. I loved the anime, and I am glad the manga is just as fun (and it seems the anime did a fantastic job on following the manga). Thanks Carlsen for licensing this volume and bringing it out in the world!

Say hello to Mob, or Shigeo. A psychic/esper with a giant power lurking inside of him. Watch out if he reach 100% and shows some real emotion, no one can stop him then! Yep, normally Mob keeps away from showing emotions and whi

This was a good intro into the story. Good action, great humour and an element of horror/mystery. I feel like thr story lacked a little depth but that may have been due to the first volume.

This was so ridiculous, but bloody hilarious.

It's not bad, I can see how it would get as popular as it is, but it doesn't quite work for me. The art style is a bit too off-putting for my taste, and the story is a bit too cynical. I'm still glad to have tried it.

I read this since the author of One Punch Man wrote it.
Wasn't as good as expected.
So, the art isn't anything good... Honestly it's almost always bad, which just goes to show that as long as a story is good the art doesn't matter... Well, maybe not completely...
Anyways, it's about an eighth grader named Mob, who is a psychic, and is being used by everyone around him.
Much like Saitama, he has no feelings. (The facial expressions are pretty much the same.) And also like Saitama, he's really power

The art's not great, but it's really funny.

Reigen Arataka, greatest psychic of the 21st century and new star of the paranormal world, is a complete fraud. His apprentice, Mob, however, is the real deal. Mob is reserved, uncoordinated, socially awkward, and bad in school- as far as most people are concerned, he's just another face in a "mob" of people. But what others see as a complete lack of emotion couldn't be further from the truth: Mob's emotions and psychic powers are so powerful that he keeps them locked down at all times. Although ...more

-Read for 2019 YA Reading Challenge-

I read One-Punch Man, Vol. 1 by ONE and I really enjoyed it. Like, immediately binged as much of the series as I could get my hands on and am still currently invested it in. - When I was given a copy of this book (thank you Alisha) I was optimistic as I had a lot of faith in the author... I have mixed feelings at this point.

The art was the supreme disappointment in this book. Yusuke Murata absolutely ruined me for reading a manga like this. The standard set i

Leaving this one unrated as I carry on with the series; depending on how it develops, I'll see if I come back and add a rating.

First: I dig how unapologetically bad the art style is. If you're picky about art styles and want something near pristine, you won't like this, at all. I like how cynical the characters are and that Mob's actions and decisions aren't strictly what you would expect from a character in his position. He's already in possession of a large amount of power, and rather than sp

His name is Shigeo Kageyama, commonly known as "Mob." He is Arataka Reigen's disciple and a true super human.

I don't know how or even if Dark Horse manga has an age rating for their books but with a certain amount of violence I'd guess this book is rated Teen. I would also like to note that the artwork in this series is more like One's original web based art style and not the cleaner style of the present One Punch Man manga so you might want to look at he art style to decide if it affects your

After watching both seasons of the anime, I felt like I just had to read the manga to see what they left out. Surprisingly, they left out nothing. Reading this first volume was nostalgic. It reminded me of my first times watching anime in junior high, and Mob Psycho 100 stood out to me at the time due to its dry and straight forward humor.

Enough of the nostalgia talk, time for the review. Coming in with no expectations and a whole lot of heart, there was no way I wasn't going to enjoy this. It's

Book Riot 2019 Read Harder Challenge #11: A book of manga

Even moreso than "One Punch Man," this manga would be right up the alley of alternative comics fans who haven't ventured much outside of the Western sphere. While some will undoubtedly write the art off as amateurish, there's an actual sense of real cartooning that's missing from most manga and at times recalls Dash Shaw or Charles Forsman's work. The plot is a pastiche of supernatural detective stories that actually manages to be hilariou

I love the Mob Psycho 100 anime series, so I wanted to give the manga a try.

Largely, this follows the first 4-5 episodes of season one exactly, even the dialogue and sequences are the same. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean if you have watched the show there is a lot to be offered here.

The art style isn't nearly as polished at the anime, and the humor doesn't land as well as it does in the show.

Overall, enjoyable if you haven't seen the show, but I think the show is a stron

The design itself is funny, I mean the way the faces of the characters are drawn are certainly amusing to me.
I laugh out loud when I saw 'the cleft chin monster'.
Mob is the ultimate weapon and it's true.
I loved the mob explosion meter.
This was funny a client did not have a girlfriend and believed evil is doing it.
I can relate to Mob when he ran for 5 minutes and was KO.
2 characters from One punch man made an appearance but I loved Saitama as the mobile phone wallpaper.

Humorous story about a young super human who is mentored by con-man Reigen in the field of exorcisms and general ghost hunting. Mob - as in one in a crowd, not someone violent- is stoic and calm while being surrounded by those who would use his abilities for their own gain.

While the art isn’t stellar, I found it lent itself to the humor sprinkled throughout.

I’m reading this with my youngest son who is 14 and adores the series. From the creator of One Punch Man, anyone who enjoys a bit of silly

I saw this while looking for new manga and I thought I would give it a try.

Its not what I expected but it was a fun read. I love seeing the percentage before Mob explodes. I wonder how many times that will happen throughout the series.

I'm not sure if I am going to continue this but it could be a fun read while I wait for a main plot to develop and for Mob to maybe start control his powers so he can start to show more emotions.

I was never really a fan of One-Punch Man's absurdist gag humour but at least that felt unique at that time and sort of relevant. Mob Psycho 100, on the other hand, feels like a regurgitation of its predecessor but instead of superheroes and monsters, we now have an exorcist and ghosts.

Fun, but fun enough? I burned through the first four (about a third of it, maybe). My favorite parts are mob not fitting in and his psychic mentor, which don't happen often enough. The build up to 100% has been amusing, too, but I see why they don't do it too often.

I'll probably start in on these again the next time I need a little break from other books.

Honestly hilarious and seriously creative for what could have been just another high school paranormal story. Mob's total deadpan attitude makes for a funny and refreshing protagonist and Reigen's a gem. Interested to see how the anime compares. Also ONE's art has progressed so impressively, some pages are so graphically intense and the BW contrast is used so effectively.

A fun, well paced introduction to a character and the types of conflicts the series will put him in. A legitimate threat rises to power in this issue, but you read the whole thing with a bit of a smirk on your face. A fantastic diversion.

Recommended to fans of One Punch Man, or anyone interested in a hapless hero.

Probably wouldn’t have liked this one as much if I hadn’t have watched a good chunk of the anime before reading it.
I love Mob’s character and the way his powers are explained, I think Reigen is hilarious, and I’m excited to see where this series goes.

The story’s pretty good. It’s really funny and Mob is a badass. But I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 4 because I don’t like the artwork. The quality of the art is very important to me when it comes to mangas and comics.
