Can You Survive the Jungle?
You're lost amid dangerous, unseen predators after your plane crashes in the Amazon jungle. By parachuting out of the plane, you landed safely, but you are all alone with little food and water. Do take off in search of rescue? Build a camp and try to signal rescuers? Head towards where you believe the downed plane and your pilot may have landed? YOU CHOOSE what you'll do next. The choices you make will either lead you to safety or to doom.

I don't trust choose your own adventure books that aren't the trademarked real things.

This is part of the You Choose/Can You Survive series of adventure books that puts the reader in the middle of the action. This time the reader parachutes out of a plane into the Amazon jungle and forced to make choices that will hopefully lead to survival.
At the end of the first chapter, readers get to choose three different jungle options to try to survive after you parachute out of an airplane flying over the Amazon jungle: (1) take off in search of rescue, (2) build a camp and try to signal rescuers, or (3) look for the plane and the pilot. Then there are numerous possible outcomes for each of the jungle options that will lead you to survival or death.
My middle school students will love this adventurous tale that's full of action and the bonus is that they will also learn real information about the Amazon jungle, along with some great pictures and illustrations that match the story. For example, readers learn about jungle animals like caiman and peccaries.
The book ends with additional useful information, including: survival tips, mini-biographies on real survivors, a survival quiz, more books to read, the Fact Hound website code to find out more internet resources on the Amazon jungle, a glossary, a bibliography, and an index.

Just like the earthquake survival one, I really enjoyed this one too. I love to read these books multiple times to make sure I take every path possible to see the different outcomes. The jungle is a great environment to do an interactive adventure in because there were so many different ideas and places you could go just in this one topic. Overall, I really enjoyed it.

I prefer a unified plot line and this Can You Survive instalment, like Can You Survive A Virus Outbreak, follows the same character, with three different routes you may take as the character. Read it overnight and first thing I picked up the next morning.

Although it's not my favorite in the series it's still a really great book! The thing I love most about these books is you can read them again, and again, and again and never get bored! I highly recommend, very fun and educational.

We got this book, and our 8 year old instantly sat down to read it... and didn't get back up until she had finished all the endings!!! It absolutely captured her attention, and she loved getting to do all the choices & see where it would all end up!

Different scenarios arise as you make choice on how to proceed after your plane has crashed in the Amazon.
These have been hugely popular with students.

Such a fun and informative book. I read them with my classes. We discuss the choices and we vote on the path to take. Learn a little democracy too!

A fun book with the added benefit of teaching valuable survival skills.

My 4th grade reading buddy is obsessed with this series. He asked me to check out any that he hadn't read yet. Of course I got this for him. This book puts the reader in the position to make decisions that may affect survival when lost in the jungle. He liked this one, but not as much as the others. The story paths were not as in-depth as other books we have read in the series. Still, he liked it. If your reader is into the other books, you will eventually get this one.

My boys, (ages 8 and 4) are really digging the survival stuff lately. These have the added bonus of being "choose your own adventure" type books. Will you survive or not?

It seems I would survive the jungle. Good to know. :) All those books I've read will apparently pay off. Good research; it's good to see how individual choices could affect the trek.

I really like this book because it brought animals into their instincts and biology into it

This was a really good book. I love when you can choose your own path. I love them because you can read them over and over again but you choose different ways to go.
