If you're having a crap week, this book is better than Xanax at helping you cope. I'm speaking from personal experience.

Summer Heat is a very spicy and low-angst read. Scratch that. It gets my No Angst for Miles guarantee.

Two best friends, flirtatious but never lovers, go on a romantic getaway together to a gay resort in Spain. Adam had booked the holiday as a surprise for his boyfriend, Drew, but that was before Drew traded him in for a younger model.

The "Heat" in the title is not misleading

Perfect holiday read,
Low angst,friends to lovers story.

Adam and Finn have been friends for years.Finn has always had a bit of a crush on Adam but he would never act on it while Adam was in a relationship.Things are about to change, though, when Adam breaks up with his boyfriend and asks Finn to go on the holiday with him that he had planned with his ex.

Steamy. Definitely steamy.

There are books that you read for lots of plot twists and dramatics, but this wasn't one of those.

The premise is pretty simple.

1.) Best friends go on a summer holiday, after one friend is dumped by his long-term boyfriend for a different, younger dick.

2.) Sex and feeling happen. Lots of sex. Frequent sex. Flip-floppy sex.

3.) Both guys waffle over, "What happens to our friendship now?"

4.) They get over those worries and become boyfriends.

This story was fun and flirty,

This was a sweet Summer read.

Low on angst. Friends with benefits to lovers over a Summer getaway. Hot sexy times. Great chemistry. It was everything I could ask for at the time I read it. I really enjoyed it, but it didn't wow me.

Adam gets dumped by his much older boyfriend who likes them young and has decided Adam expiration date is past due. He found himself a young'un that he also happens to work with and has been cheating on Adam with. Adam is a bit devastated as he should be considering h

I think this one does what it says on the tin. I was going for a sexy, summery, beach-read.
I hope I pulled it off. You can find out on the 9th of June :)
Well…this book definitely deserves its title, cause there was some serious HEAT in this one :P

This is a friends to lovers story, that is low on angst and high on the good feels ;) .

After Adam gets dumped by his boyfriend of 5 years, he seeks out his best friend Finn. Finn, of course, has been hiding his true feelings for his best friend for some time, and he isn’t all that upset to hear about Adam’s break up.

So when Adam asks him to go on a romantic getaway he had already booked and planned, Fi
So boring, it was a suffering to read. It took me almost a month to finish.
In the first half nothing happened, it was an endless recitation of all of their actions: what they did at the pool, in the restaurant, what they eat, etc.
The second half was a non-stop fuck fest, occassionaly interrupted with rubbing sunscreen on each other.
Plus, both of the MCs irritated the hell out of me.

This story is so un-Northcote-like, I can't believe it is the same author who wrote Helping Hand...

No one does sweet and low angst like Jay Northcote. I just adore his writing style and anytime he comes out with a new story, I'm ready to knock my blog-mates over so I can be first in line! It's a good thing we all like each other!

Summer Heat does what it says on the tin. Best friends to lovers while on a holiday to Spain-- does anything sound better than that? And it was a very sexy read.

Adam had been in a ho-hum relationship with an older guy for 5 years, until the cheating bastard

This is a very fun, feel good and steamy friends to lovers romance. It's very light on the angst and sometimes I really need that in my books. I love Jay's books and this one is really no exception.

** 2.5 stars **

I picked this up immediately after finishing Nothing Ventured, my favorite of the Jay Northcote books I'd read so far. Summer Heat didn't change that opinion.

Maybe my expectations were set too high. It certainly didn't help that both books used the exact same plot device (view spoiler) to overcome the lovers' resistance to commitment. The alternating POV offered two voices that were, unfo

Very apt title for the book! This one's a scorcher!

When Adam gets dumped by his boyfriend (the biggest jackass *shakes fist*), his best friend, Finn accompanies Adam to the one week vacation he was supposed to share with his ex. Finn has been in love with Adam for years.

They get a little push from a guy they meet at the hotel, and their attraction detonates in a scorching evening between the three of them.

The story had just the perfect length. No angst at all. This was just a bucket full of sunshine!

A very sweet, and scorching story about to guy

Super sweet and angst-free Nortcote-style.
Sexy times were hot too.

Hurray! I’ve found the perfect summer book! If you are going on vacay or have some surf and sand time coming up, never fear, I’ve just scored the book you need to take with you. Make room in your suitcase for Summer Heat, because this is an essential you won’t want to leave home without. It may kick off with a bit of angst but soon a smile will grace your face and never leave. Jay’s signature cocktail tickled my taste buds and left me grinning like a fool.

Here’s the run down…

Summer Heat indeed! This is the perfect beach read, very steamy and fairly low angst. And did I mention sexy?

When Adam's boyfriend dumps him, the first and only person he turns to is his best friend, Finn. And what better way to get over said asshole boyfriend, than to go with Finn on a trip in Spain?

What I liked:

-Ginger MC, everyone! You know how I feel about them and in this case Adam's ginger-ness was on the forefront more often than not.

-Friends-to-lovers theme, done very well.

-The thre

If you're looking for a steamy, friends to lovers, beach/holiday listen with fairly low angst and you've liked Jay Northcote in the past - you should definitely check this out.

There's no reinvention of the wheel here. It's pretty formulaic, and similar in tone and plot to other Northcote novels.

When Adam finds out his long-term boyfriend/fiancé is leaving him for another man, he goes to his best friend, Finn, for comfort. Finn ends up going with Adam on a summer holiday to Spain that had origina

These guys must have had major lip cramps, I’ve never read so many BJs in a book as in this one. Holy shit, these guys liked to do the oral nasty.

I was a bit afraid before I started this because I’m not a big fan of any kind of friends-with-benefits situation. But I was happy to find out this was more of a best friends to lovers than anything else. The sex was just a bonus.

These guys already had feelings for each other early on (despite one person not fully admitting it to himself). The
This was my very first audio book so I was super excited to listen to it. And I wasn't dissapointed! Mark Steadman had a great voice and even though I'm more familiar with the American accent and he had an english one (as it was logical as the characters are from England) I didn't have a problem understanding him. He was announciating very well and his accent wasn't very heavy. This might not be an issue for a native speaker but it would have been very difficult for me to get through the book if ...more

That was summer vacay meets long time friends to lovers meets full on smexy pornyland.

Summer Heat is the type of book that you want to read while relaxing in a hammock on the beach with a cocktail. Well, maybe a private beach because it gets hella hot and does. Not. Stop.

Adam breaks it off with his fiancé that he has been with for 5 years because the guy couldn't keep it in his pants. Heartbroken and needing a place to stay, he heads to Finn, his best friend.

Like the Spanish setting, this delightful summer read from Jay is full of dry heat and steamy encounters.

It's light, a perfect beach read with a friends to lovers romance that just sits on the right side of sweet without being cloying.

Adam and Finn somehow never got it together when they first met as students and instead slipped into best friend status. When Adam finally splits from his older boyfriend after five fairly uninspiring years together he asks Finn to come with him on the holiday he'd

This is one of the sweetest friends-to-lovers books I've ever read, set against the sun and sand backdrop of a summer holiday. While you might think that the initial push to take things past friendship was in the form of a threesome could be a little awkward, it actually was really hot and didn't take away from the authenticity of their feelings for each other.

Had Adam and Finn just met each other, I might have thought that everything was a little rushed, but they'd been best friends for years
2 stars = it was ok

And it was, ok. Based on the reviews I just read from all my friends I am again going to be in the minority with my feelings.

It happens.

It is ok to be different.

This just did not work for me. Let's talk about the setup, the breakup. Adam didn't just breakup with his boyfriend and fall in love with his best friend. He was dumped by his boyfriend he lived with for five years and who he had a ring from. Regardless of the why, which was the worst of the worst, it was still FIVE Y

This is exactly what it says on the tin.
A fluffy, cute and hot summer read. And I thoroughly enjoyed it for exactly that.

There isn't one angsty moment in this (unless you count a head bump under water), and for those who like their romance light, Summer Heat is pretty perfect in every way. Surprisingly I ('who loves me angst') had great fun, too.

Adam and Finn do exactly what you would expect two young lads on holiday to do:
They lie in the sun, swim, eat, drink and sleep. And have tons of fun (an

Oh I love a dual PoV! They make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

This is a light, fluffy, angst free, sexy (very damn sexy!) spicy, hot, friends to lovers read.

Finn and Adam are immensely likeable characters and Drew is a ginormous twat.
Niall, Ash and the boys are great additions to the story.

It's aptly named too. Heat by name and heat by nature. It's smokin'!!

I loved it.

Good read. Short and to the point. This one was a little insta but besides that I liked it a lot. Adam is getting over a bad break up with his best friend Finn and they go on a vacation together that Adam was supposed to go on with his now ex-boyfriend. What was meant to be Adam hooking up with a stranger turns into a hot threesome with him, Finn and the stranger. Adam and Finn then proceed to hook up with each other on vacation and deem it to be just a vacation fling. Things change quickly and ...more
No one writes the friends to lovers theme like Jay Northcote. He’s got the magic touch with this trope and I eat these stories up like the sweetest of candy. I was a little wary of the setup as Adam and Finn get together. A threesome on vacation? Hmmmm . . . . ok. Maybe. We’ll see. I’m totally down with menage stories. The more lovin’ peen the merrier as far as I’m concerned. As long as everything is well balanced and there’s no odd man out, I love ‘em. This was not a menage story but a fun vaca ...more
