Starslip Crisis was my first venture into the realm of non-film Sci-Fi, as well as my first real experience with Kris Straub's writing.

I had learned about Kris through Penny Arcade and his (and his friend Scott's) Blamimations. I very much enjoyed his sense of humour so I began doing some digging on the things he'd written. The first I stumbled upon was Starslip, so I decided to give it a try.

I first read this several years ago as a webcomic, and I think it works even better in print (kind of ironic for a sci-fi strip, eh?). Ongoing storylines in comic strips just flow better in print than on a website where you constantly have to click "next." Even so, this first volume has it's slower parts that threatened my interest at times. Straub's sense of humor and the premise of the strip kept me going, and I'm looking forward to getting into Vol. II.

An incredibly entertaining read. Picked it up along with Ichor Falls because I had a chance to meet the author/artist. Kris seemed like a really nice guy, and I had enjoyed his other internet projects that I had so far witnessed. Starslip did not disappoint. Plenty of comedy and fun scifi shtuff. Recommended for everyone.

First collection of a highly entertaining webcomic with likable characters that parodies both science fiction and art criticism. Good stuff, a pleasant re-read! (A-)
