Firefighter Gavin Boudreau and EMT Cait Tasker often find themselves on scene together and the encounters are a bit prickly. He has no idea what he did to get on her wrong side and his buddies at the station give him no end of grief. When they finally resolve that issue, what’s left is the potential of a promising relationship.

This was an easy story where we see two people tentatively beginning a relationship, careful with each other as they get to know one another. The main conflict is Cait’s

It’s been a while since our last visit with the firefighters of Ladder 37, and having enjoyed the previous three books hugely, I dived straight in being quickly reminded just why I love the Boston Fire series.

An adult romance between one of Boston's handsome firemen this series is known for and a hardworking EMT with a complicated home life. Easy to read and sexy, it'll help you make the most of a rainy afternoon.

Great story! Sigh...
I already have a thing for cop stories and firemen stories are running a close second now. This book had everything we want in a romance story.
- A yummy hot lead in Gavin - a patient, kind gentlemen
- Plenty of heated anticipation and build up to a full romance
- Humor and fun between the guys
- Depth of understanding and connection to each other

Gavin is built just they way we love them. I loved the connection between the two and could totally visualize them tog

Misunderstandings and family are determined to keep them apart…

Oh the firefighters of Boston Fire are back and I couldn’t be happier! Gavin and Cait are co-workers but despite the attraction they both feel for each other, they can’t seem to get on the same wavelength. A misplaced “ma’am” has them at odds but once they talk it out, there’s a lot more to discover…

“Maybe you’re just mad because you want him to rub you the right way.”

Would you take a look at that cover! I think OSHA might have a bit to say about what he’s wearing. But, I quite like it. I had no idea a back could be so attractive.

This is a tough review to write. So I will keep it short and sweet. Everything about this book was good. There’s nothing I’d change, I don’t have any suggestions to make it better, but it didn’t blow me away.

The story was engaging; the characters were relatable, and the plot was believable. This book

Shannon Stacey’s Boston Fire series takes an in-depth look at the lives and loves of those who work for the fictional fire department, Ladder 37. I’ve read and thoroughly enjoyed the previous books in this series and like how the author has balanced the seriousness of the vocation with the less intense and fun side of falling in love. In Hot Response we get a genuinely nice guy hero who crosses paths with an (at first) prickly heroine. That initial friction serves to heat things up in this emoti ...more

ARC received for review

Gavin and Cait (pronounced Kate) got off on the wrong foot since he called her ma'am. (I don't get that maybe since I live in the south and it's good manners to call every lady, ma'am). Any way she didn't like it, but once they cleared up that, hot, hot. But then you throw in her emotional drama and issues with letting family go, and you get heart break. Luckily it didn't last too long. Great to see all the crew of Ladder 37 and Engine 59 again.

If you're a fan of Shannon Stacey's Kowalski Family series, you'll definitely enjoy this book. It's character driven romance about a cocky firefighter and an tough, no nonsense EMS. I enjoyed thid book a lot, mainly because I'm a sucker for "she's not really my type" trope. Gavin and Cait's chemistry was awesome and I like how the book was basically just about dealing with normal relationship stuff, like, 'should we or shouldn't we move in together?' or 'meeting the parents and coworke
Shannon Stacey’s firefighters are always fantastic entertainment but I think ‘Hot Response’ has so far, knocked this series out of the park as a firefighter and an EMT get off on the wrong foot due to a small series of unintended misunderstandings.

Gavin Boudreau and Cait Tasker didn’t seem like the kind of characters who would have worked out based on the blurb, but the story that Stacey tells turned out to be quite a different one. I never quite even got the idea that Gavin was only up for a g

Hot Response was the first book I read by Shannon Stacey but boy it won't be my last! I thought this story was fantastic. I loved the chemistry between Cait and Gavin and loved their spitfire back and forth banter. It was engaging and addicting and I could not turn the pages fast enough!

Anyone who knows me knows that I love fireman stories! There is something about the adrenaline rush filled stories and the comraderie between the team of firefighters. This book was no different with the team of

Gavin is a firefighter and Cait is an EMT so they crossed path occasionally in their job. Because of her susceptible nature and his playful personality, their rapport begin with a funny misunderstanding that Gavin is not aware of. But he wonder what he did to piss her off and why she doesn't seem to like him. There's something about the joking firefighter that got under her skin but Cait will eventually recognize that she find him attractive and that she totally misinterpreted his attitude. But ...more

... Give me this book.

Well, that was my initial impression until I started reading it this morning.

It was a bit predictable at times but I did somewhat enjoy Gavin and Cait's story, with a little bit of patience. They had their cute moments and sexy banter here and there and if you're wondering, the answer is yes... It's not sp

Gavin and Cait, the main couple, just seemed to fit perfectly together, folks. Well, that is after the embers of anger sparked by a simple misunderstanding are fully extinguished. Once those are fully doused these first responder heroes turn the heat right back up in a completely different way. Yeah, glaring glances eventually switch to hot, searing kisses and eventually some very heated, steamy scenes. All of which unfold at a leisurely pace as they slowly but surely get to know one another.

Jen (That's What I'm Talking About)
Working as an EMT in Boston keeps Cait busy. Couple that with the time spent taking care of her grieving mom and teenage half-brother, she has no time for a social life. And while she is attracted to Gavin Boudreau, he's always gotten under her skin, especially after he referred to her as “ma’am”. But when she implies he doesn’t take his job seriously, Cait recognizes the need to make amends, offering him an olive branch in the form of breakfast.

Gavin isn’t sure what he did to tick off Cait, but
Another winner.

What do you do when the hot guy you meet at work, and are just about to ask our for coffee, calls you ma'am? Hatred like the fire of a million deadly suns.

Cait Tasker is an EMT. She has moved back to Boston to help her mum and step-brother after her step-father's death. She feels like her life has been put on hold while she mothers her mum and her step-brother. She had a thing for Gavin Boudreau until he called her ma'am and made her feel even older than she already does. But sinc

It's been more than an year since I've read the third book but it doesn't take long to be back in the spirit of the series. I love the middle/working class life depicted in the series.

Cait, the heroine is an EMT so it was good to see her work mixing with Gavin's. We know they're the real deal by how much more than sex was their first sexual encounter. Cait is a strong person and I liked that it was showed more with her actions than with her words. The give and take roles in her family spoke to

We all have those authors that we love to read and we find them so easy to get into. For me one of those authors is Shannon Stacey. I always enjoy her characters and love her stories.

Hot Response has to be one of my favorite so far in this series. I sort of afraid I've said that about the prior ones but what the heck, I'll say it again. I really did enjoy Cait an Gavin. I loved their interactions and more then once

I really enjoyed Hot Response. Shannon Stacey writes such strong heroes and heroines and I found myself wanting to know Gavin and Cait better from the moment I started reading. I have to say I loved Gavin from the moment he appeared on the page. It was funny, smart, and caring. He seemed like the type of guy you could always count on when needed. I honestly felt like he was way more mature than his age and thought he was just a really good guy. The fact his was a smoking hot fire fighter, was re ...more
It had been quite a while since I read the previous Boston Fire book and I didn’t realize hiw much I’d missed Shannon Stacey’s firefighters until I started HOT RESPONSE. Lord knows we waited a long time for the continuation of this awesome series.

I loved Cait and Gavin’s story. It was down to earth with realistic and everyday problems that go with new realtionships. Which I think is refreshing with all the high angst and high drama or conversely the fairytale sunshine and roses being added to t
I've had my ups and downs with this series, so when I realized that I was a couple of books behind, I decided to give it another shot and checked this one out from my library. While this wasn't a great read, it wasn't a bad one either.

I really hated Cait's approach to a lot of her situations. It seemed like she used her family as an excuse to hide from Gavin more than her own family did! She was too sensitive about some things, and too insensitive in others. Luckily, Gavin was the forgiving sort

Hot Response is a slow burn that once fully ignited turns into a blazing romance.

Gavin and Cait don’t like each other. Or do they? Their attraction is evident to everyone. Gavin is a catch in every sense of the word. He is also used to women wanting him. That is until he meets Cait and boy does he work for her affection. Full disclosure ~ It took me a bit to warm up to Cait, but when it happened, I was all in. I felt her struggles as if they were my own.

The bottom line on Hot Response is that

Shannon Stacey takes us back to the Boston firefighters we love making me so happy I could burst. Things heat up fast as firefighter Gavin Boudreau and EMT Cait Tasker find the spark between them too hot to contain. This is a nice slow build as they try to resist their connection and chemistry but it's just too strong. These two along with all the secondary characters are fantastic! There is humor, witty banter, and fun sexy times. All the things I love in my romances. I highly recommend this on ...more

Spoilers, I guess, but only if you've never read a romance novel before.

I loved the earlier books in the Boston Fire series, so I was eager to read this one. And I was disappointed. I thought the initial conflict of her being angry he called her "ma'am" was kinda stupid. Once we got past that the book was going well until he decided they should move in together. Internally she thought about wanting more time to date before they started having discussions about bills, shopping, etc.. but external

What a way to start a book...

From the very first scene, I was on Team Gavin. He was so charming and caring and gaaaaah. I wanted him. His cockiness never came across as arrogance; it was just fun and endearing and sexy. He and Cait talked about how he might joke too much, and that sometimes he didn't know when to quit, but I never saw that. Gavin was basically perfect; flawed, but nicely so. And maybe one of my favourite things about him? He had so much respect for Cait's professional competency

This book surprised me - in a good way! I was anticipating macho, alpha-male firefighter and damsel in distress, but that isn’t what this book is at all. And that made me SO happy.

Gavin and Cait meet on the job. He’s with the Boston Fire Department, and she’s an EMT. Their paths have crossed multiple times in the past several months, but a misunderstanding between them has them both thinking the wrong thing about each other. But their chemistry is strong, and when Cait decides to make a gesture

Hot Response is a contemporary romance set in Boston with two first responder main characters. Our heroine Caitlyn is an EMT, while our hero Gavin is a firefighter. They know each other through work, as usually EMTs and firefighters show up at the same incidents.

Caitlyn has moved in with her recently widowed Mother, and Carter, her teenage half-brother, to help them recover. So she is pulling double duty, rescuing people both at work and at home. She is burning herself out with all that taking

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Gavin is a successful firefighter who is newer to his company. He takes his job seriously, but also knows how to let loose and have a great time. He has always liked to push the local ambulance EMT, Cait's buttons. He doesn't know why he likes it or why she's so easy to tease. However, when things get serious, Gavin makes a concerted effort to make sure that
