Thor - Touched by Thunder

Rate this book
Moving to San Francisco was an easy decision for Ingrid Barnes: she’d finish her PhD in Norse mythology and be closer to her brother’s growing family. But fate has a different plan. The moment she meets the mysterious and stunningly handsome William, Ingrid’s care-free California life becomes complicated by unexpected adventure and romantic entanglements she simply doesn’t have time for. But it’s not every day a Norse god falls for you, much less two.

William is Thor, the god of thunder, in the flesh sent to Earth to prevent Ragnarok, the end of the world and the annihilation of humanity. He is accompanied by Loki, the god of mischief. As unrivaled passion between Ingrid and Thor ignites, Ingrid learns the truth and she is thrust into a new and dangerous reality for which she has been fated all along. But complications arise when Loki develops forbidden feelings for Ingrid. And fate, it would seem, is an unforgiving taskmaster, forcing Ingrid to make a decision that could destroy everything she holds dear.

Bursting with suspense and brimming with otherworldly desire and passion, ‘Touched by Thunder’ is a love story that will leave the reader electrified and anxiously wanting more.

Hunky Norse gods. A battle to delay Ragnarök. A romance that literally sparks off the page... "Thor- Touched by Thunder" by E. J. Squires has a lot of greatness going for it.

Following the death of the aunt who raised her, Ingrid relocates from Florida to San Francisco to be near her brother. On the plane ride there, Ingrid wins the seat-next-door lottery! From the first moment she lays eyes on William, the attraction is obvious. But with a master's thesis to finish and a new city to settle into, a relationship is the last thing she's looking for. So when the plane lands, she bids farewell to her gorgeous companion. Luckily for Ingrid (and us as readers) Fate has other plans; her new landlord is none other than the glorious William. Despite her resolve, Ingrid finds herself falling for William. But he has secrets. Big secrets. If the title hasn't given it away, William is really the god Thor and he's here on earth to wage battle to prevent Ragnarök.

E. J. Squires has fashioned a really gripping story in "Thor- Touched by Thunder." The chemistry between Ingrid and William / Thor was amazing. I found myself reading well into the night, unwilling to put the book down. The romance was stellar! But if you take away the romance, the remaining plot was still excellent. Peppered with Norse mythology, gods, and goddesses it's an addictive story with the fate of earth and mankind in the balance. Lovers of fantasy and romance will be entranced by this marvelous tale. A highly enjoyable read.

Couldn’t stand the heroine....

Can’t stand a wishy washy heroine, she keeps telling herself she’s strong while she flips and flops on her decisions...
I want him, no mi can’t have him, I must work on my thesis, but I’m going to get drunk at a party full of strangers, I’m going to give in and have William/Thor but no I’m gonna run off and use my brother as an excuse to run scared....
This chick was all over the place,do I hate Will, am I horny for Will, and I going to run from him or too him ?
All the while we with this very awkward pairing, we are needing William’s p.o.v because we know there are soo many secrets he’s keeping.....
Couldn’t finish this was soo awkward, and the h well, young girls in fields plucking petals off flowers to make decisions are making better ones than this chick ....
I thought this would be bd sexy, but it was cringe worthy and awkward as the flighty h ran here and there and both ran got and cold...

Thor was an easy to read, entertaining novel with interesting characters and a stimulating story.

It didn't require much to get sucked in to the life of Ingrid and sympathize with her plight. At some points the story felt a little rushed, but since this was just one book instead of a series that can be understandable.

I've never really been into Norse mythology, the bulk of my knowledge coming from the MCU movies which were surprisingly helpful in navigating this story. I was delighted to read a story that had an equal balance between the romance and the action plot. Squires did a wonderful job introducing Norse concepts into our world and I loved the idea of making subtle tweaks to the accuracy, it makes the story feel even more realistic. Pretty much binged it all, wished that the final few chapters were less rushed and that we could've witnessed the fighting that took place on Wraiths Island but Ingrid, our pov, sadly passed out lmao. Nonetheless, it was a very fun read and a good introduction to Norse mythology. Think Riordan mythology but for New Adult readers haha.

A sexy read with more substance than expected!

E. J. Squires writes a great lead character. Ingrid is incredibly approachable. She is quirky, intelligent, and driven.

And who doesn't like Norse Mythology? The interplay between ancient gods and present-day California is well done. Every page seems to reveal a new reality for the characters. And yes, the scenes between William and Ingrid are incredibly fulfilling, yet they leave you wanting more!

It feels like a sequel is in the works. At least I hope so! This is a sexy read with more substance than your ordinary romance.

This is a really fun read and keeps you engaged all throughout. Despite the fact that Ingrid's character is frustrating, she is consistent in her frustrating behavior...so she actually comes across as fairly realistic (though there's no character arc which I'd have loved to see given how capable the author is in her expression!) Another thing I'd have loved to see better developed is the reason why Ingrid is 'fated' for Thor. But I am happy to just assume that she is and that he can 'sense' her and enjoy the writing!

Electric
I actually really liked the book, even though I wanted to slap Ingrid occasionally. For a woman that was so strong and intelligent, she sometimes came across as just stubborn and dimwitted. Other than the occasional frustration with the heroine, the story was fast paced and kept me reading. I really got a kick out of the William’s quiet friend.

This book had so much potential, it’s too bad Ingrid was s terrible character. She was way too immature for my liking and she could never make up her mind.
I wish I could’ve finished it but I couldn’t justify wasting my time.
