Marquita Valentine scores major points with her newest contemporary romance, Scored!!! How could she not when the heroine is a librarian and the hero is an NFL tight end? Yes, we get a Mr. Darcy loving romance bookworm who gets swept away by a kindhearted and sexy hero , who is not your typical cocky jock. Did I also mention that these two are two friggin cute for words? So it’s pretty much given that Marquita has whipped up a fast paced fu ...more

"I’m Dallas Drake. All-American tight end. Got the lightest hands and the biggest dick in the NFL. I know how to use them to my advantage."***
Highly unlikable arrogant male character with light chauvinistic tendencies *shudder*
I just can’t… today… anymore… sorry…

Marquita hooks the reader with a stunning mike-drop moment at the very beginning. Witnessing the events from the back to the beginning provided a unique perspective for the plot. There are moments when you can't help but wave the Team Dallas flag to alleviate any doubts as to the outcome of the cliffhanger moment mentioned in the prologue ♥
Dallas is a superstar football player with the ego to go with it, however, ...more
It's been such a long time since I read this authors work and now that I've read Scored, it's served as a reminder of why I used to devour her books and stalk for new releases religiously. This book had me engrossed from the prologue and had me fully invested in the couple.

This is the story of Paige, the quirky librarian and Dallas, the cocky NFL player. He asks her out the first time they meet but she's wary of him and doesn't respond. It's when he can't get her out of his mind, that he initiates a pretend relationship with her. He's sexy, funny and honest with her and she takes a hell lot of time warming up to him.
I loved Dallas Drake and his per ...more
It's another 5* read by Marquita for me!!

Genre: Contemporary Sports Romance
This was a quick feel good romance that had me smiling from ear to ear and laughing away at the banter between the characters.
Marquita has done a great job she's given us a book where the words just flowed effortlessly and it was the perfect mix of humour, sweetness and hotness all rolled into one perfect package.

Tight end football player Dallas Drake meet southern belle librarian Paige Owens. It was a sweet read with no over the top drama and some real hot sex scenes and funny banter.
This couple were the opposite of others I've read, she wanted to keep their relationship a secret because of his fame and he wanted to be out in public with her. It was a cute read how he pursued her and starting dating each other. Also Dallas had a heart of gold w ...more
There are certain authors where you don’t even need to read the synopsis; you just know you want to read the book. Considering I’ve read about 23 or Marquita’s 30-some books, I guess could say she’s one of those authors. Every once in a while you read one of the books and it doesn’t quite move you or grab you the way you expected it to….this is most definitely not the case with Scored. As a matter of fact, I think this might be my favorite Marquita Book! And Dallas and P ...more

This story is a brand new series and I beyond LOVED it. I cannot wait for more in this series.
This story stars Dallas Drake, a hotshot sports star and football player and one day his PR person, Finely sends him to the local library to see if the venue would work for an event he is planning. That is how he sees Paige for the first time. Paige and her bestie, Layton work at the library and the second Dallas sees Paige he falls hard. But re ...more
From the outside Dallas may seem like a cocky football player who is a player both on and off the field. But really you never fully buy into that as that is his reputation but he never really shows that to Page even when he is giving her some of his lines that don't fully feel like a line. Pa ...more
What a fantastic story this was. Paige is absolutely adorable, from her quirky personality to her absolute disinterest in all things sports related. And Dallas, OMG!!! He has just enough of that bad boy thing going on (without REALLY being one) to make a girl swoon!!! The banter between these two is positively flammable!!!
I know this book is a complete standalone, but I am completely convinced that fans of Marquita Valentine will definitely want m ...more

Let's start with the prologue, because I mean that's normally what a prologue is. Anyways I had feels RIGHT away for this book. Which is a wonderful thing considering Marquita Valentine is a new author to me. It had a heart warming feel to it, which is impressive since it was barely a page and a half. What I loved...more
Paige Owen is quirky - something she admits to and is ok with it. She also loves books and works as a librarian with her best friend. She has also promised her sister that she will never date an athlete - especially an athlete like Dallas Drake - the resident playboy of the Raleigh Renegades the local NFL team and w ...more
Let me just say I fell for Dallas Drake from the moment he appeared on the page. I love a sexy football player, and add in a football player who actually wants to help others, and you had me at hello. I also loved that Paige ...more
Ok, please don't hurt me, but I have to be honest. It took me some time to really get into this book. I didn't really like Dallas or Paige. I got to a point and convinced myself to read just one more chapter. If it didn't get better, then I would DNF the book (which I very, very rarely do). Well, low and behold, it got better... and then I couldn't stop reading!
Dallas is a pro-football player--sexy, cocky and has a fan club called Dallas Dolls. I know, right?! Paige is a "quirky" (her wo ...more
Scored is the first book I have read by Marquita Valentine. I have heard of her previous work and just hadn’t made the time to experience her writing. I will be picking up more. I am so happy Scored is my first. It had so much of what I look for in a book. A few of those things are the dual points of view, flirty banter, main characters that have best friends who have their backs and the HEA I want from our couple but it leaves me wanting more from the supporting characters.
This is my first time reading anything by Valentine, but I can promise this will not be my last! I am completely in love with this story, but what bookworm wouldn't be! It is about a librarian and a hot football player! Valentine does an amazing job of blending these two characters that have absolutely nothing in common into a couple that everyone wants to be like in Scored.
The story is centered around Dallas, a football player who could get ...more
