Lady Elizabeth Atwell is well known among the Ton for her beauty and yet she hides a secret: she’s a member of the Legion, England’s spy network, and has a gift for code-breaking. She’s quick with a bow and arrow, not to mention helps bring down traitors who wish to bring down the British monarchy. She’s independent and doesn’t take no for an answer as Captain Grant soon realizes.

Romance and adventure
Romance and adventure abound in book 2 of The Heart of a Hero series. Elizabeth Atwell is a smart capable heroine who can hold her own against Captain Alexander as they chase the elusive Typhon. I have already ordered the next book in the series and look forward to continuing the adventure and intrigue.

This was a fun Regency romp, with characters based on heroes and villains from Marvel Comics (by the author's own admission). Elizabeth Atwell is a member of the Legion, a group determined to protect the Crown from threats against it. So is Captain Grant Alexander, a muscular, sensitive hunk -- who only wants to protect Elizabeth from harm.
The two are united against Typhon, the leader of a dark organization determined to overthrown the government.

This was actually the first historical romance I have read. I was drawn to the book as I am a Marvel fan and I understood Captain Alexander was modeled after Captain America. How could I not read it? I was pleasantly surprised! I found the characters to be captivating and quite enjoyed the storyline. I adored Elizabeth Atwell’s spirit, found her to be a fantastic heroine and an ideal match for Captain Alexander. I am excited to see where their adventures take them next!

I liked the idea of the story, but even with this being fiction, there were too many things wrong. The heroine constantly running off in the middle of the night with no explanation, the many discussions that were had in the middle of everyone about their secret spy stuff, and all the bad guys knowing who the good spies were as well. The only one who seemed to be kept in the dark about what was going on was Elizabeth's mother. Too many loose ends in the story for me as well.

A great, light read, "Only a Hero Will Do" takes readers back in time with an entertaining spin on the standard regency romance, with spies and intrigue thrown into the mix.
