What a wonderful story that was! Solid 4 Stars!

Starting your own business as an interior designer is hard but being a single mum at the same time is harder. Sophie Calhoun longed for her daughter to be with her but it isn't possible. Leaving her daughter in her mother's care had made her double-guilty, guilty for the fact that she can only spend one day with Camille and for taking her mum's time. Finally, she is opening her dream studio, Subtle. She had put all her effort on making this happen.

The Boat Builder’s Bed was a surprisingly addictive read. When I first started reading this story, I wasn’t quite sure how much I would enjoy it. I was intrigued and wanted to know more, but I wasn’t sucked under the spell for quite some time. As the story started to progress, I gradually found myself slipping deeper and deeper into the world.

It’s very much a story that grows on you. It’s a book where the little things make you fall in love with the story. It’s the accumulation that is so enjoya

There are many qualities that i liked about this book.

*Hot in Pursuit of a hero
*Independent heroine
*Both H and h in the same page when it came to their relationship
*A Hero willing to declare the heroine as his in front of his bitchy ex-wife
*Sexual tension
*Hot graphic sex scene
*Boat builder as a hero (That`s new!)

So why couldn`t i rate this book any higher...?

I read "The Wrong Sister" (6:th book in the "Wicked in Wellington" series) by Kris Pearson years ago, and i remember really loving it so i

Well, well, well...

This ebook was SENSATIONAL! I absolutely ADORED it, I LOVED the characters, the plot was FANTASTIC, and the characters are the type that stay in your mind FOREVER!

Front Cover.
I had the Kindle edition, so front cover doesn't count!

It's about...
Rafe Severino and the charming Sophie. Rafe, a successful business man who was brought up under the care of his grandparents, rather than his actual parents has a long-bearing grudge upon the people who were supposed to care

Sophie is on the verge of opening her own decorating business, Subtle. She hopes that this will be her big break. She always had to settle for the cheaper things in life, so she could set aside every penny she had to spare. She saved the money to set up her own company and to send to her mother, who raises Sophie's daughter Camille. On Subtle's opening day she meets Rafe. Rafe is a very successful boat and yacht builder and he needs a decorator for his new home. Does Sophie have what it takes to ...more

I picked up this book when scouring Amazon for books set in New Zealand. It's the first I've read by this author so I was super excited. Too much so, perhaps?

The first 60% of the story was a rather long, slow trudge for me. The part about her daughter irked me, and ironically ended up saving the story in my eyes. The last 30% of the story bumped this up from an average read (3 stars) to a very good story (4 stars)

FOOTNOTE, which didn't factor into my rating. Okay, perhaps it did a tins

He'd been encouraged to exact revenge on his parents' decision to disown him. But it had left him guarded and alone. Far from the life full of love, laughter and family he so desired. Despite being intelligent, humorous, persistent and delectable, Rafe was a man in pain.

She had a secret that she didn't want to keep, but felt if revealed, would cost her the secure world she was desperate to create. Sophie Calhoun oozed strength, warmth, fun and intelligence - a wonderful character, determined to

The book was so-so. I wasn't even going to write a review but I feel the need to defend Sophie after reading all the other user reviews. Personally, I thought Sophie was a far better character than Rafe. Rafe was too prejudiced from the outset. What grown man is still harboring such prejudice at his age? Get over it already. "Boo-hoo. My mommy doesn't love me. Waaa." Really?

Then, to judge Sophie without hearing her side and abandon her at the party IN FRONT OF HIS EX-WIFE. No Bueno. He could hav

Looking for a light, pleasant story, I read this book last night, but was quite disappointed. I know the romantic genre has traditional and "necessary" elements - the nasty ex-wife/girlfriend, the gorgeous hunk with childhood/military/whatever issues (naturally!) and the misunderstood heroine who has secrets of her own. The Boat Builder's Bed had all of these, but unfortunately, for me they did not amalgamate into a satisfying read.

From the beginning, the characters could only think about lustin

This was a free Kindle read. Interesting story. The language was a little odd as it takes place in New Zealand. I wanted to dope slap Sophie for not telling Rafe "her big secret" and almost messing up a really good thing.Nut it was a nice switch that it was the girl I wanted to slap instead of the guy. Definitely worth reading.

Putting this one on hold for now. I am on Chapter 8, and increasingly annoyed by the hero's constant come-ons to the heroine, constantly touching her and manipulating events to get her spending more time with her. It's fine line between love and stalking. Instead of reading a hero who is romantic, he feels borderline creepy.

I read this book a couple of years ago, but just now added it to Goodreads. That being said I remember reading it...and you know there are a ton of books that just aren't memorable. And I remember liking it and it left a favorable impression on me.

I do wish the cover and title weren't so cheesy...

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest opinions. My first book by Kerri and won't be my last, I thoroughly enjoyed this storyline, it had substance, loveable characters and unexpected discoveries. Rafe and Sophie had hot steamy chemistry, I fell in love with them, this book was charming and utterly wonderful. I can honestly say I recommend this book.

I loved the book! I read this book when, it was first published! I loved it then and I love it now that, Kris has de-sexed it! I don't know which I enjoyed the most but, this book is plenty sexy or maybe, I just have a good imagination!
Rafe is still a hunk and you can tell just how his muscles ripple or the great big grin or when he narrows his eyes! Of course, Sophia has the beautiful blonde hair and the light neck that Rafe can't help nibble on! She is always saying,"this won't work" but, mean

This book seemed to go on forever. I love romance books, but this story just didn't have anything to keep the reader fully engaged. The sparks between Rafe and Sophie picked up pretty quickly on Rafe's end, but Sophie went back and forth so often you lost count on where she was with her feelings, all the while getting irritated when Rafe would pull back. I would have liked to have had alot more story substance with this book. It just really fell flat for me. I found myself jumping ahead just to ...more

ARC for honest review with no compensation 3.5 stars

Boat Builder’s Bargain is the 1st book in the series of Hearts around the Harbor and is a sweeter version of her series Wicked in Wellington which is steamy. Must say that I did like both versions of the book! !

Sophie and Rafe have lots of sparks, verbal sparring, some heat, secrets, but in the end will they find their HEA???

A character driven story with so much heart...

I love Sophie and Rafe, they've each had a hard time in life for different reasons though. Kris's writing brings them to life and makes you care about them. This story really touched my heart. Keep kleenexes handy. And their HEA just brightens your day.

DNF. This hero was no such thing. He was so intent on his own wants, he was borderline offensive. The heroine should have just told him no and walked away from any job where a man was not taking no for an answer. Been there, done that.

Great

Sophia was starting her own design business. On her first day she hits Rafe's headlight with her run away sign. He was married to her of boss. But he was giving her business the start of a lifetime. Good comes for both.

Great, fast summer read. Typical story of two unlikely people running into each other, literally. The tension throughout the story is kept taut as a cable-car wire. The descriptions of NZ make me want to go there. Several twists keep the interest up to the end. Fun indulgence for a few beach hours.

Kris writes sizzling contemporary romance, pure and simple. Well, maybe not that pure! They're sexy stories about couples who fall in love, and into bed along the way, just like real people do. She's just finished writing The Scarlet Bay series about the billionaire Wynn family - Summer Sparks, Summer Secrets, and Summer Spice. And now she's writing the Merry Summerfield cozy mysteries - lots of c ...more
