WOW I don’t know what to say about this book, In the Beginning is about the beginning of the human race as we know it. If you love science fiction and all the old ancient stories of God, Greek, Egypt, epic fables of Zeus Olympians waging war on the Titans then this is the book for you.
I don’t want to spoil this for anyone, but I loved it and it kept me gripped until the end. I loved the way the story flowed and explained how so of many of the great floods, Atl

(Or some such nonsense, Leviticus being the book in the Bible – sometimes attributed to Moses – which lays out the rules and rituals for worship and sacrifice in the Temple.)

It seems I’m always finding new sub-genres; once I have seen enough books that try to do the same thing in the same way, I figure I’ve found another one.

For example: a novel that explains the gods of the ancients as space aliens, a prehistoric race of super-humans, or a previous high-tech society, etcetera, etcetera. Ever si

On the planet Orion the government released a birth control virus to help prevent the planet from becoming over populated and allowing only the smartest and the best looking ones to be impregnated resulting in mother and child both dying. Orionites tried to find a cure for the virus but without any luck.

The Orionites find another planet so King Osiris sends their best men Lucifer and Zues in search of this new planet hoping to find someone out there that may be able to help them find a cure for

Orion is a world far away, and it is dying. Its populace is plagued by a terrible malady called BCV that has made it difficult, almost impossible, to produce viable life. Without birth, a world cannot continue. And so they must look elsewhere for the technology necessary to save their planet from extinction.

The characters are named, amusingly enough, after an assorted mix of Gods from around the world. The leader of Orion is Osiris. His top military commander is Zeus. Archangels, gods, goddesses

What if all the gods and goddesses of our myths and legends were actually aliens? What if they came from another world looking to save their own race? What if Earth was a designed planet; a zoo tended by cloned dragons? If these questions add up to a lot of “what if”s, then it's possible that you have found yourself reading a book written by the enigmatic BCE called In The Beginning.

I would have to say that this story is a very ambitious one. The idea that ancient gods could have been extraterre

The planet Orion is facing over population so the government decides to release a virus keeping women from getting pregnant with the hopes that only the smartest and prettiest of the population will reproduce. Unfortunately this back fires by killing both the mother and child. The next hope is to find a habitable planet to populate. Lucifer and Zues are sent out to find a new planet but the one they are looking for is gone. Instead they find a planet filled with humanoid creatures. They decide t ...more

This is beyond just a Sci-Fi novel, it had a how did the world begin theme to it. BCE has brought to life very multi-dimensional characters and given them a purpose. The world he has created is so vivid and really helps the reader feel like they are there with the characters.

A strong and fast paced plot will keep you invested the entire way through. This was one of those reads that really made me feel a deeper connection than I was expecting.
The characters, plot, and pacing were all spot on and

I think the fact that I am not that familiar with various mythologies made it easier for me to get into the book. Parts of it put me off, such as the extreme use of obscenities and graphic sex scene (to aid in character development) but overall, I enjoyed the story. I did skip over several parts I felt were repetitive. I thought the premise was very provocative, but felt that the writing was somewhat stilted. Nevertheless, I felt this book truly had potential.

Whether I like a book usually has 90% to do with how engaging and multi-dimensional the main characters are and BCE has hit it out of the ballpark with the characters in In the Beginning.

The writing was superb and the attention to detail was part of the reason everything seemed so real.

BCE really uses many different themes and makes the reader think about things you wouldn't expect in a Sci-Fi novel.

Definitely a unique world and I was glad to have read it.

A wonderfully written Sci-Fi ride. I found it very well written and easy to follow
I found myself immersed in the combination of Sci-Fi and Mythology.
BCE has created a action packed Sci-Fi novel that will keep the reader engaged and furiously flipping pages.
This novel succeeds in making me want to read more from BCE.

Wow! This book pushes the boundaries of what is ordinary and expands into the extraordinary! A great storyline with simultaneously flawed and perfectly wonderful characters? Check! A fast pace that kept my interest but didn't lose the story in the process? Check! History, mythology, and the eternal question of who are we? Check! I 100% recommend reading this sci-if epic! ...more
