T-Space: Alpha Centauri #2

Alpha Centauri: Sawyer's World

Rate this book
Marooned? With no way to return to space, the USS Poul Anderson lands on an Earth-like planet in the Alpha Centauri system, its small crew fully expecting the USS Heinlein to be back for them in a few weeks . . . but the weeks are dragging on to months.Faced with trying to survive for an indefinite stay, they have only their wits and the meager resources of the lander to help them. No matter how Earth-like it may be, this alien world comes with alien challenges . . . and some very human surprises. How is Captain Elizabeth Sawyer going to keep her team alive until the Heinlein returns? And what if it doesn't?Inspired by Jules Verne's "The Mysterious Island" and Robert Heinlein's "Tunnel In the Sky", this sequel to Alpha First Landing is for readers who like their hard science fiction with a generous dose of action and adventure.

Interesting early colonization tale

This a good sequel, but a cliffhanger. 3rd book does wrap up story, but in a pretty boring way. Enjoy

Excellent

But a little disappointed at the Swiss Family Robinson likness. But I'm still reading....So that says something positive from my perspective.

Excellent story continues

Steve Cole (Stephen V. Cole, PE) using wife Leanna's account.

Excellent book, characters developing nicely, science is good but not pounded into your head, story is well developed.

With eight people and one capsule loaded with stuff, just how DO you explore and survive on and even colonize a planet, even a planet that Ancient Aliens terraformed and stocked with Earth animals and plants?

Enough hooks to hand five more books onto. I hope this becomes a 20 book series! The pyramid if that is what it is. The Chinese visit to a different star. The Earth political mess. The marriages, the children.

Example of good work... food plants we know today were bred for size centuries ago. An Ear of corn eaten by the Pilgrims in 1621 was the size of your finger.

Maybe six total typos. Pfft, nothing to worry about.

My only gripe is after I saw the dino with the feather crest I would have told the whole crew.

This was an interesting story and kept me entertained. The only thing I didn't like was that the author kept referring to the characters by their first names at times and just the last names at times. I found it a bit hard to keep track of who was who. I'd rather he used one or the other. I am on the 3rd book just now and hoping for satisfying ending.

another great read in the series

This book in the series leads the party from the Paul Anderson settling on Sawyer‘s world. It is a great read in that it discusses the settlers encounters with alien animals and a new planet to map as well as the normal human actions of settlers in a new environment. Ends with a cliffhanger which I have to get started on book 3.

This was a very good book. I read all three, and I was sorry to see it end. The characters were very well described. The story about visiting other planets was interesting. I would recommend this book.
