This was easy to read and kept my interest. For such dark themes, the author had a light hand, and it didn’t feel bogged down with the weight of the despicable villains. I also appreciated how much honest and open talk there was between many of the characters.

Helen, the heroine, is a beautiful bluestocking, and she was once described as a ton diamond, who doesn’t like balls and ton events. Clarence is a secretary for Helen’s sister, who helps manage orphanages for Her Grace. He has a very sordid

A Dream of Redemption by Bronwen Evans it the Eight book in "The Disgraced Lords" series. This is the story of Lady Helen Hawkestone and Clarence Homeward. I have read some of the previous books but feel this can easily be a standalone book.
Clarey and his brother Simon came in to Helen's sisters life when about 5 years ago when Marisa needed help. From then on Marisa gave Clarey a job as her private secretary. Marisa has a few projects that help the less fortunate. Helen always felt that Clarey

Bookish and independent Lady Helen Hawkestone is expected to marry well. But, having grown up with warring parents, the institution holds little appeal. The trick, she realizes, is to marry for love a task that’s easier said than done. Clary Homeward is an enigma a heart-stopping, body-stirring, forget-her-social-upbringing enigma. A single offence against a noblewoman such as Lady Helen would ruin a man like Clary. Her sister, Marisa, Duchess of Lyttleton rescued him from hellish poverty and em ...more

No witty banter here, but a rather somber look at orphanages and trafficking. Clary is a former child prostitute in love with Lady Helen, who feels passionate about him. How can they be together and find the missing children? Romance and steamy passion juxtapose with abuse of children to make a satisfying read. I especially liked the fact that a woman was the business head behind the orphanage reform.

If you are looking for a light, frothy story, don’t waste your time reading this review. The Disgraced Lords is one of the best historical romance series around and A DREAM OF REDEMPTION is another astonishing example of Bronwen Evans’ talent. Clary was introduced in the previous book, but even readers who have not read this series can readily dive in because, even though this is book eight in the series, it does stand alone. Ms. Evans doesn’t shy away from difficult issues, and A DREAM OF REDEM ...more

Received an ARC at no cost to author. (netgalley) I have been a fan of Bronwen Evans fora a while now, I think from the beginning of this series and I will continue to be a fan. This was the 8th in this series, and even though it is a series can be read as a standalone you will not be lost. This has some pretty sad moments, like reading about Clary and what he went thru. Clary ends up working with Helene at an orphanage and their working together became more than just helping out the orphanage, ...more

As with all the Disgraced Lords series, this book is another beautiful tale of honorable men and the strong women who love them. While like the other books in the series, this is an emotional romance with a strong danger element, but this one also has much darker subject matter. This is not a light hearted romance but it is a beautiful story with some powerful messages.
Clary Homeward is not your average romance hero but I think he is one of the most admirable heroes I’ve read in a long time.

I really enjoyed reading this book. With the author’s style of writing, I could picture everything perfectly in my mind and I felt like I was back in time. I found the characters to be fascinating. Helen and Clary were delightful and I fell totally in love with them. Definitely a wonderful book to read.

Captivating!

Clary Homeward regarded his employer's sister as an angel. An innocent who should have nothing to do with him. After all, he is a product of the streets, of depravity, of the worst parts of London.
Book loving, intelligent Lady Helen Hawkestone was frustrated by the endless rounds of senseless ton activities. She wanted more, she wanted to marry for love. If she can't have that then her sister- in-law's support of orphanages would challenge the boredom of the social interplay.

BUT WARNING!!! Not for the faint of heart reader.
This book was a mix of a heart rending , emotional and soul touching instrument. Not only has this author written a magnificent historical, she has written a book of real time events in a way that makes each reader stop and think and feel. I had such a time with the book. Totally captivated and completely oblivious to all things happening in the world until I was finished reading. From start until finished, the book is a GREAT

FINAL DECISION: An enjoyable cross-class romance with a hero with a dark past and a heroine who is determined to have him. I especially enjoyed seeing the characters from the series five years later.

She realizes that every person she knows who married for love found their spouse in an unconventional fashion and also she has been intrigued by her sister's employee Clary Homeward. Clary, however

This is intense, heartbreaking, engrossing, romantic and sweet. Clary is strong, honorable, dedicated, broken and insecure. Helen is headstrong, naive, caring, brave and stubborn. Clary has always thought of Helen as an angel, a person who has a heart of gold. Helen has always been attracted to and intrigued by Clary. I've been Long time a fan of Bronwen Evans, almost since the start of this series. I've really enjoyed these past two books that kept us in the world of the Disgraced Lords, but was glad to have the initial story arch wrapped up! (It was starting to feel a little drawn out towards the end.)And i was thrilled when i found out Helen was going to get a book of her own, she's been a big part of the stories since close to the start! A Dream of Redemption (The Disgraced Lords, #8) by Bronwen Evans.... This book in the Disgraced Lords series deals with some dark issues that continue in modern times... I was lucky to preview this book through #NetGalley. This is a forbidden love between Helen..a beautiful "blue stocking" and Clary a man who has pulled himself and his brother from the hell of London streets to a better life. This book has all the feels ...some are eye openers... there is a HEA and Bronwen gets you there.

I’m not sure how I feel about this book, it’s well written and has an interesting theme, the rescue of orphans from barbarous orphanages. The h is the sister of a Duke, and is attracted to the young man who works as her friends/sisters? (I can’t remember) secretary in management of her charity, purchasing and improving orphanages. I can believe that far, and even to the acquisition of the latest orpanage. I can believe their mutual attraction, but the rest became less believable. Most unbelievab ...more

Lady Helen Hawkestone was tired of being paraded in front of eligible bachelors in an effort to find a husband. She decided to let fate handle it. Clary Homeward is also dealing with the orphanage, and doesn’t believe he needs help from a debutante who sets his blood aflame with desire. When children go missing, Helen and Clary team up to find the culprits and rescue the children. But, wh ...more

I voluntarily read an Advance Review Copy of this book through Netgalley. The Disgraced Lord Series has been a great series and this book is a great addition. Helen has decided if she is to marry, fate will step in and present him to her. Clary’s past is not what any family would want their daughter to marry but Helen does not hold to these standards. The story is full of intrigue, danger, kidnapping and a new found love. I have loved all the books in this series and this one is a great read. I ...more

I received a copy of this book to read from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. A Dream of Redemption is the eighth book in Bronwen Evans The Disgraced Lord Series. It can be read as a stand-alone but as many of the characters from this book have stories in the other books it’s probably best to read them all. Growing Up. Learning our past does not determine our future. Redemption. An emotional story of two people who are very different in society but who know what it is like to be pulled down emotionally. Seeing how the situation changes the lives of the hero and heroine and their journey to happiness is worth the read. It was great to see some of the Libertine Scholars. Th ...more

A Dream of Redemption ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐by Bronwen Evans
(The Disgraced Lord #8)

As a historical novel this story is so appropriately named for its forbidden love and somber look at sex trafficking of children.

This is a not a book for the faint of heart reader nor is it a book to render a solution to a problem such as this even today. It is an eye opener to another Underworld.

Helen Hawkestone lived her own high born life so unaware of all around her until she began work with her sister Marisa. Marisa has dedic

A Dream Of Redemption by Bronwen Evans is a drama-filled historical romance. Ms. Evans has delivered another well-written book. The characters are phenomenal. Lady Helen is a member of the ton. Clary grew up in a male/male brothel. Helen and Clary's story is packed with drama, suspense, action, humor and sizzle. I enjoyed reading every page of A Dream Of Redemption and look forward to reading more from Bronwen Evans in the future. A Dream Of Redemption is book 8 of The Disgraced Lords Series but ...more
Tabby Shiflett
A historical romance that incorporates a sensitive social issue, child trafficking, and a happy ending (which given one of its themes, seems appropriate). This novel is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone book. Both MCs illustrate strength in their own way, and even if not completely relatable, are described in a way that readers will be rooting for them. Not your typical romance.

I'm so happy Bronwen Evans has given us more from the Libertine Scholars and supporting cast. Clary is such a worthy hero and while Helen had a few dumb “throw myself into a perilous situation moments" she too is a kind-hearted, love worthy heroine.

Every book in this series has brought the goods -- romance, mystery and smoking-hot sexy times. What’s not to love?!
