Almost every civilization believed in immortal beings and worshiped them as gods. Little did we know, our ancestors were right…

Darcie Abernathy leads an unusual life. At seventeen, she spent the past two years living abroad while her father studied ancient cultures throughout the Mediterranean. Monotonous days filled with dusty libraries made her count the days until she r

2.5/5 stars. This was a quick, easy read. Nothing exciting, nothing to keep me hooked. The concept was good, but the writing was just okay-ish.

Darcie lives with her father, who researches ancient history. With a job that required him to travel all over the world, Darcie was mostly homeschooled. When she returns to Maine, she is eager to meet

I did really like this book. It flowed, it was easy to read and was written well. To be honest though, the storyline was really predictable, Darcie was very naive, maybe a little too fragile... I'm not quite sure how to put it.... There were a few things I'd have changed but overall it was a decent read. I am going to continue th

Enlightened was a relatively quick read about a normal teenage girl who had to deal with a mythical situation.

I liked Darcie. She was sweet, and I honestly enjoyed her desire to return home. She actually had an alright home life, and I appreciated her wanting to keep it, even if I found her resistance to being with Des annoying at times.

Thank you Samantha Britt for the opportunity to read your book. This was an interesting read. The characters were great. I started to like Darcie more as the story went on. She was a great heroine. I hope there will be more development in her character, so she can be one of my favourite heroines as the series goes on. The story was confusing to me at times, but it did get better after 25% of the way through. Al

I had a blast while reading this. My favorite aspect of this book was the main character, Darcie. She was a badass main character that never lost focus on what was important to her, which was getting back to her normal life. She was smart and made decisions that I would have made myself. She embodied what a normal teenager would do in

Having finished this novel I'm honestly not really sure how I feel about it. The characters and the plot were both fine, but it wasn't really my kind of book. I didn't really find myself connecting with the main character (Darcie), a home-schooled girl who has completed the equivalent of high school way away with her father on a business trip in

I love Darcie. She is everything I look for in a mc. The girl is smart and strong and questions everything. She's not going to just sit back and accept what others tell her, even if they are gods. Darcie is thrust into an unfair situation and handles it like a boss. And the fact that she does not believe in instalove was just the icing on the cake. The best part though was that ending. The decision she made just...

while I appreciate this author's Curse of the Draekon series, I find book one of the Immortal Chronicles to be severely wanting. A character who should have some maturity from her life situation instead bumbles through it like an idiot. She ends up kidnapped so she can be protected and initialed a token resistance to escape before blindly falling in line. Oh there is language saying she's resisting, but whenever one of her captors says she should do something she obeys wi

Enlightened is a different & intriguing story. It is the first of (I believe) four novels in the “Immortal Chronicles” series being released this year. This YA story focuses on one main female character, who we learn is mistakenly swept up into the world of the “Immortals”. Who they are & what roll she plays draws

So, I took my time with this one because I genuinely loved the story. Overall I recommend this read to anyone who enjoys supernatural romances. For more details continue reading my review, if you hate spoilers stop now.

Initial set up was a bit slow, but it eventually built up. As with all books in a series, the first has to set up the “world building” and the author did a very nice job with giving enough info with out killing the reader with too much details. The idea of imm

Darcie has spent two years being homeschooled while living with her single father abroad as he studied ancient Mediterranean cultures. Now 17 years old, she lives in her hometown in Maine and spends her days with her best friend Marie. Her biggest struggles are trying to convince her father to allow her to attend college early so that she can further her education, and maybe landing a date with her Marie's older brother Kevin. Enlightened is a lovely book written by Samantha Britt. It focuses on Darcie Abernathy and her discovery of a whole new world. Darcie has a very good head on her shoulder and seems to take this adventure good heartedly but does reach her limits. I have to admit I would have probably reacted differently from her and embraced this new world more than she did. She seemed apprehensive to it, which seemed odd since her dad is a historian so she grew up learning about the world these immortals grew up ...more

I found Samantha Britt’s Enlightened to be very intriguing, and very addicting. In fact, I read it from start to finish all in one day. The characters were well developed and the world Darcie finds herself pulled into perfectly mysterious. Told she’s Des’s “One” by his brothers, while being refused as the “One” by Des himself, Darcie finds herself trapped in a brewing war between immortals seeking more power and the three brother standing in their way. And I have to say it made for a good read t ...more

I have loved all of the other novels ive read by Samantha Britt; and i was not disappointed with Enlightened.

The story follows Darcie, who is craving a normal life in her not so normal routine. However, she gets caught up in the affairs of immortals, which is almost never a good thing. Darcie gets sucked into events that she had no business being apart of and surrounded by the constant

Absolutely loved Enlightened - a fantasy story with mystery, danger, intrigue and hint of romance.

The author captured Darcie and Des's connection beautifully. Their connection builds and intensifies - you could sense their bond pulling them together despite their resistance.

Des came across abrupt and rude but the backstory to why he's so closed off broke my heart. He's been denied of his On

Enlightened has everything a good fantasy story should: Secrets and intrigue, a life on the line, a hint of romance...
Darcie is a strong character that finds herself in an unbelievable situation, living in a world with beings she never knew existed... and they think she's one of them.
I enjoyed this book immensely, as I do all Samantha Britt's books. The characters are well developed and likable (or hatable, depending on who we're talking about). The world building is imaginative and inspired. I

Promising start of a great series.
At the end of the first book I have so many questions. Darcie reaction to the world of Immortals let me think that she has some kind of connection to it no matter what she and Des say. Secrets after intrigues, Darcie does not try to find her place but she wants someone to hear her voice. However, she bonds with the inhabitants of the House of immortals and might have found a mysterious ally. The attitude of Des keeps sending contradictory signals but with his hi

I received this book in exchanged for an honest review. Maybe that’s the reason I feel guilty about my review of it but I have to be honest.

I didn’t like this book. I didn’t like the characters, the language, the storyline, the writing or the ending.
The constant use of Darcie being referred to as “the teenager” or “the girl” was unbearable. Near the end, not a page went by without Darcie being referred to in third person. The writing was bearable but certainly didn’t ensnare me. I laboured thr

This was a one sitting read. It kept me interested throughout the whole book. Secondary characters are just as interesting as the main ones. We were fed the details of the immortals past in bits in pieces. Seeing what each god/goddess was linked to was very interesting. The parts with Des and Darcie near the end were well worth the build up. This would have been a five star but the ending was too quick and what happened just left me confused and unsatisfied. I am hoping this is just leading into ...more

An intriguing story about what happens when the lives of humans and immortals mesh, Enlightened is a captivating read for lovers of fantasy. Darcie is just your ordinary girl when she comes under the notice of immortal beings who believe her to be an important player in their quest for power. She is quickly pulled into a world where she doesn't know who to trust or what her future holds.

Entertaining and enthralling story. It started a bit slow for me, but there were several characters who needed introductions. After the first couple of chapters, I was hooked and couldn't put it down. I'm intrigued to see where the story goes in the second book. Bummer that it will be a wait for about a week! I also hope that we will get to see the back story to some of the supporting characters, and what their adventures have been.

I have found a great new author (to me anyway) to follow.
