Principles of Geotechnical Engineering

Rate this book
For two editions, Das has set the standard against which all other geotechnical engineering or soil mechanics texts have been judged. The book's exceptionally clear theoretical explanations, combined with realistic worked examples, thorough explanation of field testing methods, and extensive problem sets have made it the market leader. In addition, Das includes the latest geotechnical engineering research in both the text discussions, and in extensive chapter bibliographies, which point out important literature in the field to the reader, and make the book a valuable resource for the practicing civil engineer.

I feel like this would serve better as a reference for practicing geotechs than for uninitiated students.
