As I was reading the story I could hear the Irish accent in my head. A very moving and emotional romance story. Clara has issues from her past that she needs to deal with plus trying to help her drunk brother. Can Danny help her get over her past so she can move on with the future? Read the story to find out.

I loved being whisked off to Ireland for a while as I read this book. The setting was vivid. The characters were great. The romance was tender and sweet. I really enjoyed the book!

I really liked Clara. She had been through so much, and had come through it with such strength. I really admired her. I also loved the way she saw the best in everyone. Sometimes it was at the expense of reality, but I still appreciated her desire to see the good in others.

Danny was very successful, but still humble an

Danny Brady has worked his way out of poverty with drunken uncaring parents to become a successful business man. He falls for Clara quickly, but when there is financial trouble with his business and he learns about her prior arrest for t ...more

A beautiful Irish romance…

This is the beautiful contemporary Irish romance of Clara Donovan and Danny Brady. They meet when Danny follows Clara up a precarious bridge to stop her brother Seamus from committing suicide. Although neither is interested in a serious romance, both having had bad experiences that soured them on love, their attraction to each other is undeniable but the difference in their social status may be an insurmountable barrier. Danny is a millionaire entrepreneur devoted to hi

Oh Danny Boy is a fierce, tug at your heart journey that will both mesmerize and capture your very soul. This is a raw and very real story about life and its myrid of struggles that never seem to let us go. With each step we take, they try to mire us more and more into the mud of sadness and loneliness. It's only with the gentle and loving help of others with equally tender hearts and broken souls who can rescue us even if we don't want to be rescued. They have to quietly lift the veil from our ...more

I give this 4 stars overall since I don't think it was badly written but just 3 stars for my own personal enjoyment. I had a hard time relating to the characters for which I am thankful. I have never been in a position of an abusive relationship, neglectful parents, alcoholism/drug use, jail time, thieving and so forth. I couldn't decide if I would react to situations as they did if I were in their shoes. I would think that after being in the abusive relationship Clara wouldn't be so optimistic ...more

Oh Danny Boy by Josie Riviera
This book starts out with praise for the author's writings.
Book starts out in Ireland and her brother Seammus is on the bridge, about to jump and probably drunk as he's griefing still over the death of his wife.
A man will go with her to stop him as they climb the rusty bridge.
Clara tries to console him, the guitarist behind her supports her...

Clara Donovan is determined to be strong and independent after all that she's experienced in her past. So, when her brother attempts suicide, she's convinced that she can help him. However, she's not prepared for the kindness and gentleness of a wealthy businessman to get past her walls.

Danny Brady is not looking for romance. He's simply in town to open a new location for his coffee shop empire that he's building. But, when he sees the dedication and determination in Clara to help her family, h

This is my first book to read / listen to of Josie Riviera ‘s . What caught my eye about the book at first it was about Ireland . Handsome Irish men that makes a great love story , Danny and Clara are different in many ways but are they really ? Danny wants to be loved but not because of his wealth . Clara is looking for acceptance in her own way . Wants to be independent and make it on her own but some obstacles get in her way . She trusted her brother and that was a big mistake . Trying to for

This is a perfect contemporary romance to read for St. Patrick’s Day! It is set an Ireland. Some of the story I read, other parts I listened to the audiobook. I enjoyed the reader, you can tell she is actually Irish and has a beautiful singing voice.
Clara meets Danny in an odd place, saving her suicidal brother’s life. They form an instant bond, that is often stretched. She comes from a tragic childhood and is very vulnerable and self conscious. Because of that she has been taken advan

Readers will find themselves whisked away to the Emerald Isle in this well written romance. Author Josie Riviera’s vivid descriptions made me feel as if I had indeed been transported across the Atlantic to Ireland.

The people portrayed are very real and I felt as if I knew them. Ms. Riviera knows how to keep her readers emotionally involved in the story and moves us seamlessly between the high and low points in her main character’s lives. The book focuses on Clara and Danny, who on the surface ap

I haven't been to Ireland but now I want to go. Josie Rivera's beautiful story has me seeing what Ireland can be like and the people that really can be so caring and love life. I loved her hero and heroine. Danny is one kind of a man every woman would fall in love with and Clara is one tough lady who is still fragile inside. Danny is also remembering a past he would rather forget.
This is a beautiful story with lots of emotion and caring and danger at least to one heroine. It is also one where y

It wasn`t very wise for Danny to not be totally honest about himself, he isn’t just a guitar player but the owner of a big coffee chain. But when he met Clara, when he helped saving her brother from a suicide attempt, he was drawn to her and wanted her to be attracted to him just for him not his wealth.
They both had troubled pasts and trusting someone isn’t natural. Can Clara learn to trust Danny, and what will happen with her brother? What is more important for Danny his business of his love f

The story starts quickly with Clara trying to save her drunken brother from committing suicide. A handsome musician comes to her aid. I loved the main characters although they made mistakes, they changed when they became aware of what they were doing wrong. The song started early in the book is finished at the end in a very clever manner. It does not become tedious at any point. The book moves along at a good pace with an HEA. I’d recommend this book to readers of clean romance that like a littl ...more

Josie Riviera's Oh Danny Boy was a fun read. Set in a small town in Ireland where Clara is befriended by Danny. Clara has no idea who he is and is very surprised to learn he is a coffee shop entrepreneur. Clara has lots of personal and family drama and definite trust issues. She is very naive and optimistic. Danny has past issues as well but is no longer clueless and accepting. Clara is focused on her family first and then her livelihood. Danny is trying to expand his coffee shop empire and his ...more

This book was well written with outstanding characters. Danny owns a chain of coffee shops soon to expand bigger. Clara hates coffee. Danny wants to help Clara with her problems with her family, but Clara hates to accept help from anyone even to aid her brother Seamus.
Be advised, alcoholism is a big part of this story. If that is a trigger for you, be prepared or don’t read this book. That said, Josie Riviera treats this issue with compassion and understanding.

Oh Danny Boy was my first book by Josie Riviera and she is now one of my favorite authors.
Clare’s brother Seamus is in a bad way and when she accepts help from a stranger she doesn’t realize how it’s going to affect her life and her siblings for the better. Set in a small town in Ireland this story follows how the friendship and love grows between Clara and Danny. They will have quite a rocky start and a challenging storm they must get through to find their Happily Ever After.
I throughly enjoy

The story is set in Ireland. Clara has left an abusive relationship and is now struggling to make ends meet and support a brother suffering from deep grief and addiction. Her sister also needs support from her. Along comes Danny who is a rich, coffee shop owner building his multi-national chain of coffee shops. He also has issues from his childhood.

The story itself is a seemingly mis-matched romance with misunderstandings with several threads thrown in that aren’t quite followed up. The support

From there you are given a relationship that is a delight to see build. It has its moments and trials but the answers and the way around them are the meat that gives us our fix in a good romance. I couldn’t put this book down! Can two people hurt and broken by the past and present, lay their burdens downs in order to have a relationship? Read how Clara and Danny work to overcome abuse, alcoholism, and being an enabler in order to live healthy lives. This story contains heavy issues but is very well written and engages your attention.

A feel good book

Being of Irish decent and having visited Ireland myself, I am always on the lookout for stories set in Ireland. Mave Binchey and Patrick Taylor are two of my favorite authors. I was so saddened by Mave's death several years ago. This book brought back many memories.

What a beautifully written book. After reading this book I really, really want to go to Ireland.. by the way it's my lottery trip.
This book is filled with compassion, heroism on Clara's part dealing with her brother along with my emotions all over the place.
It was a very emotionally, sweet book about a very beautiful place.

Clara is a strong character, but almost to the point where she lets her pride get in the way of her own potential and happiness. Even with her terrible experience with her ex, she allows her brother to treat her just as horrible. Danny is from humble beginnings but almost jaded from his journey to success. He is sweet and very willing to tell it like it is.
