Colette Sheridan's life is being remodeled. As a San Antonio architect, she'd have vowed her career was to investigate the history and create new functions for the structures that everyone else saw as eyesores. The old German farmhouse in Comfort, Texas might be the screeching end to that dream job. The assignment seemed so ideal at the start; generous clients, a stunning ...more

Kimberly Fish serves up a unique novel with a Texas gal and guy, a Texas setting, and a Texas mystery. As to the gal, Collette is a likable hot mess with far more potential than she realizes. She is inherently relatable, all while you want to grab her and tell her to quit running and find a way to face it all. Throw in a bit of romance, family expectations and relations, and the exes, and there is plenty of trouble to keep this book a page turner, especially with Fish’s modern writing style that ...more

Kimberly Fish is back with the same rich writing and flair that I fell in love with in her novel, The Big Inch. In Comfort Plans, readers are given main character Colette, who initially is a world of mess. As she runs from place to place, trying to seek refuge, solace, and answers, Colette begins to realize that the power to heal and move forward and live her life is all her own.

My reading preference is generally not stories in which the primary focus is romance, and Comfort Plans fits the bill

The author knows how to weave a tale and this book is a wonderful mix of romance, history and a splash of mystery.

I truly enjoyed this book because it is set in Texas near San Antonio which is rich in history that we don't hear about very often. At the end of most chapters there is a letter from Colin to Laki and these letters give us a peek into what life was like for this couple and the trials they were going through.

Colette has had an interesting life that is set out throughout the book - fr

There’s often a fine line between contemporary fiction and romance. That’s not a bad thing, but it bears mentioning that while this novel, Comfort Plans has elements of romance (and two hot male leads in Julian and Beau) but it is really Collette’s story, the story of a woman who must face herself, face her choices, and face the new paths that life is offering her. As such, it’s a bit deeper, a bit more reflective than traditional ‘romance’ novels.

Author Kimberly Fish has a writing style that fe

The moment Comfort Plans completely sucked me in was when main character Colette was hiding in the small turret room of that old farmhouse. She’s avoiding all confrontation, which I can totally get behind. She finds her backbone finally and decides to start fighting for what, and who, she wants. I can appreciate the growth she shows as a character. She puts on her big girl panties and takes charge of her life.
She wasn’t renovating a house.
She was the one being renovated.
From the cover blurb, I h

It's 4:10 am and I just finished Comfort Plans. What a delightful read! Characters that you can care about and a plot with plenty of twists and turns. I literally couldn't put it down! I can't wait for more! Thanks Kimberly!

Kimberly Fish is a professional writer with almost 30 years of media experience. She's been telling stories far longer. She published her first novel--a WWII Historical Fiction--because of true story in her adopted hometown that was too good to ignore, and quickly followed that success with its sequel. Since then, she's continued writing fiction and added a contemporary second-chance romance serie ...more
