It feels like it's been forever since I read an Elizabeth Lee book, so I was thrilled to learn she was releasing a new one. When I heard about Dear Kate, I knew I would have to read it and not just because I love Elizabeth's writing. The book sounded fantastic and like it would be right up my alley when I'm in the mood for a more emotional read. It should be no surprise at all that I really enjoyed it.

I expected this book to be an emotional jour

I love Elizabeth Lee. This is fact. I was so excited for her new book. And...BONUS...it's a series! Happy Dancing in Texas!!!

Hope is the glue that holds her friends group together. She has a lovely husband and 2 cute kids. But this is not her story. This is the story of what happens after her death. Hope reaches out to her loved ones to make sure they are taken care of after she is no longer there t

Favorite Quotes:

Dear Deacon, I hope this letter finds you well. As you may have heard – I’m dead.

For a split second she thought he might kiss the back of her hand – and she kind of wanted him to – but then she remembered what year it was.

Do you want me to kick his ass? … I will if you want. I’ve got some friends… I mean we’re all soccer dads and not really in prime fighting shape, but we could at least rough him up a little.

My Review:

Elizabeth Lee has mad skills and quickly pulled me into the s

There isn't a single thing that I didn't love about this book. This is a touching story about the importance of friendship, love, and finding happiness within yourself. I loved that this wasn't just a love story. It explored so many other things that are important in life like friendship and self worth. While the synopsis may make this sound like a sad read, it's not really. It gives you hope (which is fitting because of Hope in the story).

If you're looking for a story that makes you want to em

Kate was once part of a tightly knit group of four friends comprising of her, Willa, Vanessa and Hope. Tragically, with no thanks to the scourge of breast cancer, that group has been reduced to three.

Hope didn't just leave memories behind her though. She also left behind a husband to whom she entrusted their two adorable young children, and a box of letters. Knowing that she wasn't going to win her battle, Hope had written dozens of letters, not just ones to be read by her children on special oc

Dear Kate, my 1st read of Elizabeth Lee's is such a beautifully written story, (love her style.) a story about love, life, & finding happiness (some must needed balance) in your life. Kate Beckett and her 2 close friends Vanessa and Willa are dealing with an extreme huge loss of their best friend Hope (who was 32, who has left behind a husband & 2 young kids.) to breast cancer. My recommendation is be sure to have tissues handy. This is a very emotional read, I enjoy that, when an author ...more

What do you do when your best friends dies and leaves you letters telling you that she wants you to live a little?

That is what Kate has to handle after receiving her first letter from Hope, who has just passed away from breast cancer. Deacon, Hope's husband's best friend, also receives a letter. Together, they begin to help each other. And it's quite the experience to watch it happen! This story shows you what is important in life- friendship, family, love.

‘Dear Kate’ is the latest book by Elizabeth Lee and in it we get to know Kate as she comes to terms with the death of a friend and as she deals with the impact of this. I know that books are often described as emotional but this one really does tug at your heartstrings as you read. This was a 5 star read for me.

Being part of a such a close group of four friends Kate has had the support from each of them but when one of them is taken away by breast cancer the three left behind have to find a way

When I first read the idea for this series I was hooked. There is just something about reading how different people deal with grief that holds a special place in my heart. I have, like so many others, have had my fair share in my life and each time it's different. For every person in my life it's different. Seeing my kid deal with it is different, and well eye opening. Kids are tiny superheroes sometimes.

What happens when your fierce foursome of friends is suddenly a tear filled threesome? That

When Kate looses her best friend, her life take a turn. It seems her friend, Hope left her letters, making her question her life and her choices.

Hope seems to know what everyone in her life may need once she is gone. She has always been the friend who knew it all and whom everyone turned to. Hope had always wanted to introduce Kate to Deacon (her husband's college friend). Crazy as it is, she sends Deacon a letter too. She knows Deacon is what Kate needs. Dear Kate - The Letters # 1 by Elizabeth Lee 5 Stars

Dear Kate is one of those stories that grabbed me from the very beginning and wouldn't let me go until the epilogue. If only we could all have friends like Hope, Kate, Willa, and Vanessa. I laughed "I thought red hair was in now?...I think it lost its negative connotations when Ed Sheeran came along"; I cried "They were the kind of friends that most women wished for. The kind of friends that women were jealous of. And now there were three."; I

A beautiful story of love and loss and learning to let go.

Kate's best friend dies and in her will, she leaves a series of letters for her loved ones. In her letters to Kate, Hope provides encouragement and love in her words. She pushes Kate to live her life, to be open to possibilities. Hope also plays matchmaker from the grave.

This was a beautifully written story that has cross-genre appeal. I am admittedly a sap, so I should warn you to have your tissues ready. There was sad momen

ARC provided by the author in exchange for a review.

Elizabeth Lee is a new author to me, I saw a sign up for Dear Kate a few weeks ago and after reading the blurb I decided to add it to my TBR and hope to be chosen. I am happy I took a chance with this one. The story was well written and I enjoyed the characters. I look forward to reading more from Elizabeth soon!

Thank you for allowing me the chance to read and review.

This was the first book I read by Elizabeth Lee and I can say that I simply loved it!
The story is very well written and the characters are captivating, and I found myself rethinking my life, whether I'm really living it to the fullest, or just existing.
The decisions that Kate decides to make after receiving letters from her dearly friend are not easy, but in the end they are worth it to make her truly happy.
This is a beautiful story, I loved it!

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

I really enjoyed 'Dear Kate' and the interesting idea behind the story. It was easy to read and the characters were fairly interesting. My only complaint was that several plot lines were introduced and left hanging. I was frustrated by this because it directly involves the protagonist, Kate. It wasn't until the end that I realized it's because this is going to be a series.

When Hope dies after a long battle with cancer she leaves behind a box of letters for her husband to mail at different times. Some of the letters are for her two children and some are for her three best friends. The impact Hope had on their lives continues even after she is gone. This is such a poignant and thought provoking book. It touched my heart on so many levels and brought me to tears at the end.
I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Great start to what is going to be an emotional series about life-long friends that are pulled even further together due to the passing of Hope - these ladies literally lost their Hope but she can pull them together even after her passing. Kate is a lawyer continuously trying to move up and up while working 60+ hours and leaving no time for a social life. Deacon Yates has left the conventional corporate world to travel and work on the road. Can these two make their obvious chemistry work or will ...more

[1.5 stars] book was just "meh". the plot was not bad, i think the problem lies in the execution. the connection between deacon & kate felt a little weak, like i cant feel "the pull" that links them together. and there isnt much details about the characters as well so dont really understand much about them either. i think its quite a disappointing book.

Born and raised in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield (not literally, that would be weird), I’ve spent my entire life imagining stories. Stories where the right guy always gets the right girl, first kisses are as magical as they are on the big screen and anything is completely possible if you believe.

Although this journey began years ago, it recently took on a whole new life. After years of devo
