A lonely woman who feels like a fish out of water + a firefighter sea dragon baffled by human ways + a forbidden love that will shake the whole sea = one magical romance!

Neridia Small just wants to fit in - but that's hard when you stand six foot six in your bare feet. Maybe it would be okay if she was supermodel skinny to go with her supermodel height, but a ridiculously

Loved, loved, LOVED this book! Amazing writing, fantastic world building, hilarious banter and two characters you could cheer for. It had everything I want in a paranormal romance, plus fantastic cameos from the others. There were moments I gasped and ones where I burst out into laughter. It was so enjoyable and while it can be read as a standalone, I would really recommend reading the other books first. This is easily one of my top favourite paranormal series. I can’t wait for the final two boo ...more

Gentle giants

I loved reading about John and Neridia both are gentle giants. John is used to being large and therefore center strange, but Neridia has always had horrible experiences with being so big. I felt horrible for her. I think the past trauma affects her power as well. Neridia comes from the Greek "Nereides" or sea sprites, which is completely appropriate. I really enjoyed these guys.

3 stars.

Our hero is John Doe, a 7 feet plus "Poet Knight" Sea Dragon who's spent the last 2 years on land trying to find their missing Emperor. I think I liked him better when he was Griffin's roommate who kept burning food. Here, I thought he was a bit too stubborn about taking the newly found Emperor's daughter, who's also his mate, back to Atlantis. And yes, Atlantis is where the Sea Dragons sank into the sea to escape from the Fire Dragons centuries ago!

Our heroine Neridia Small is 6'6" and

It seems that is a good book and a very bad one in this series, after the last one, things were getting better, but this book was incredibly predictable and the character of John was beyond annoying. It had so much potential, the description of his culture and the difference with the other shifters were very interesting, but from the introduction of the new characters, you could see who were the good guys and who the bad guys, again, even if the writer was trying to force you to suspect others, ...more

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, and no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I have bought this book because I loved it, and I own most of Zoe’s books!

This cover matches the series!

This is the fourth book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the violence and steamy scenes. I highly recommend reading the series in order to make it a much richer e

For me, Firefighter Sea Dragon was a 3.5, nearly a 4 * read. I very much enjoyed the underworld city, creatures, & descriptions in Firefighter Sea Dragon. I liked & “fell for” the the MMC, John Doe, to whom we’ve been introduced in the previous books in this series. I struggled with either identifying or sympathizing with, let alone admiring the FMC, Neridia, however. I prefer strong female leads - physically trained, intelligent or mentally resolved, and/or emotionally strong. I felt Neridia ha ...more

I read romance because I strongly believe in soul mates, love at first sight, and loving the same person forever. I also believe that a person's honor should only ever come second to their loved ones. Why ?Because I would break any oath for my children and my Husband.

I really enjoyed the prior book which led to this one- it is super creative and interesting but ultimately felt like there was a missed connection between these mates. We didn't get to see them really spend any time bonding- right into the action.
From the Loch Ness to Atlantis, its action packed but not one of my favorites.

This was simultaneously the best and worst thing I’ve ever read.
My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at

John Doe has been a part of this series from the beginning. He also had a large part in the previous book with Griffin, as he was an oath brother to Griffin. But we still didn’t know much about this shifter. He goes by the name John Doe, because you can’t say his name in human form. Sea dragons are an elusive group of shifters. They don’t come out on land often. They are big on honor, or at least that is what they say

Firefighter Sea Dragon is an intricately woven tale of a lost leader, an honorable knight, a land of fable, an evil villain hiding in plain sight – and a love that will be willing to make any sacrifice necessary for a mate’s happiness or life. Every story in the Fire & Rescue Shifters series has been an amazing read, but John and Neridia’s romance is simply riveting. John has always been a man of honor, perhaps a deeper code of honor than his friends ever imagined, after

John Doe is a firefighter. He's also a knight-poet sea dragon from the undersea city of Atlantis & he's been sent to dry land on a mission. A mission somebody doesn't really want him to complete. Since he could not find his mate, he took the vows of celibacy & service to the Pearl Emperor & the undersea realm. But the emperor has disappeared & the Knight-Commander has sent John to find him or any clues as to his whereabouts. What he found was his mate & a whole lot of mystery & trouble.

I enjoyed John and Neridia's story. It was a little bit tougher of a read for several reasons, but I enjoyed it. John and his heritage is different from the other shifters and so his obedience to duty, even over logic, was difficult to take sometimes. There were a couple times I wanted to reach into the book and smack him upside the head, but then he would only take that as a challenge and completely miss my point. Neridia was full of fear and it held her back a lot. The grandeur of Atlantis was ...more

Skeptical with an open mind

After reading the blurb for this book about a tall, fat, black woman, (I have two of those qualities btw) I was real skeptical if I was going to like it. But my mind is as open as the day is long, so I flip the first page, and I've got to say I have not laughed so hard and felt so connected to two characters as Neidira and John. When Neridia realizes that she's looking up at him, she's surprised and when he turns into a sea dragon in front of her, she runs off. John is surprised and upset to find hi ...more

This was different in the fact that it is set on both land and water. The book contains a mystery, assassination and attempts, sharks and sea dragons. I enjoyed it it has happy moments and also some touching ones.

FANTASTIC!!! This series is so great. I have enjoyed it so very much. Neridia, at 6'6", has felt her size was a deterrent to ever finding any man she could be with. Every man she ever tries to date is so put off with her size she has almost completely given up. When she flees her latest date because of his reaction to her size, she finds herself by Loch Ness being attacked by 5 drunken men because she knocked over their table in her haste to get out of the bar she had been in. OKAY OKAY OKAY--I gotta' review this bullshit. Because it's the most confusingly entertaining thing I've ever listened to.

The audiobook is hilarious. I legitimately stopped listening to it and returned the audiobook to the library because it was so cringeworthy. The narrator has different voices for all the characters, and they're SO DIFFERENT. I convinced myself I couldn't do it and let it go.

Over the next couple days, I just chortled to myself about how terrible it was. Creepily sing-song Sea

This series has so many different shifters working together as members of the East Sussex Fire & Rescue firefighters, including a dragon, a Pegasus, and now a sea extremely tall sea dragon!

John Doe searched the oceans and seas all around the world for his true mate. When his search was negative he became the Walker-Above-Wave, Emissary to the Land from the Pearl Throne, Knight-Poet of the First Water, Sworn Seeker of the Emperor-in-Absence, and Firefighter for the East Sussex Fire a

John Doe is still learning about shifters on the land. They are so different from those of the sea. And his brothers’ all believe that he too has a mate. But John doesn’t believe so till he takes a swim to Loch Ness. Neridia has had a hard time finding a man. They all freak out when they see her. She is 6’6, way taller than most. When she bumps into John things just seem so weird. For one, she didn’t realize John was a sea dragon and that there are shifters of all kinds in the world. When John s ...more

This series is probably the one I like most from this author, I feel in these ones she does a lot more world and character building and while everything still happens fast, as they are shorter books, its not like chapter 2 and BAM in love etc. You get to know the characters better with a bit of back history and conversations.
Loved John though at times he was definitely blinded by his honour. Neridia was great, and it was wonderful to see she could balance her sea and land time.

More amazing world building

Book 4 in the Fire & Rescue Shifters series, characters do carry over from the previous books, and while you could read this as a standalone, certain characters attitudes and reactions will occasionally make more sense if you have the full background of the previous books.

I enjoyed the twist to this that had John feeling that his Sea Dragon was his true form, so instead of getting advice from an inner animal, he gets advice from his inner human. Neridia’s humanness

Zoe Chant has really outdone herself in this latest installment of the Firefighter Dragon series. John Doe has long been a mystery. Seeming to have come to modern day from medieval times, he is a man of honor and duty. He has been sent to walk the land to search for the missing Pearl Emperor. Instead, he finds his mate, Neridia, who holds the secret within her that she is even unaware of. When the truth comes out, a plot that has been long at work is revealed. Can they rise to the challenge and ...more

Lol, Good Lord! What's in a name?
As much as I liked John and Neridia's story, and enjoyed the humour throughout parts of the story, it wasn't as captivating as I thought it would be.
I found John to be at time's infuriating and Neridia a tad to timid until the end.
Still for entertainment value and for the fact that it was well written, it was a good read and I will absolutely be reading more of this series.

Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!

While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
