Summary: You would think that dealing with an impending hurricane would have been tough enough, but when you add witches, vampires and werewolves things get very interesting.
The VooDoo Dolls may be average humans, or mundanes, but between Jenna making very good friends with the local pack alpha, Rico, and her propensity to getting into situations that are not really safe Rico has his hands full keeping them safe. It seems all the training pays off when Jenna manages to survive a fight with vampires. Even with all of her skills it is lucky she lived to fight another day. Even with the approaching storm is seems like some of the paranormal individuals are determined to capitalize on the chaos when college girls begin to come up missing. As Rico, his pack, and the witches, and even some vampires come to their aid they will need to work together if they will have a hope of survival. Add to this the romantic interests between many of the characters makes this one series that you shouldn't let pass you by.
The Voodoo Dolls series book #2 Hurricane of Magic by J.L. Hendricks continues with Jenna and Rico's story. Rico the local alpha werewolf and Jenna the front "woman" for the band The Voodoo Dolls and part shop owner while battling vampires. The plot thickens as there is another mystery for the girls and Rico to figure out dealing with mutilated drained bodies, and learning more about the magic world. I really enjoy this series mainly how much of a trouble magnet Jenna and her sisters happen to be. This is great read and the sisters keep the humor while learning to stake vampires and figure out what's going on in their city. I definitely recommend starting from the beginning New Orleans MagicThe Voodoo That You DoMagic's Not Real now on to the 3rd book Council of Magic
This second book in this series was much better than the first one. The girls were a bit more mature this time round and although they were still sometimes a bit rash in their decisions to get involved, it wasn't as often as in the previous book.
In this one, Hurricane Gerttie is about to hit New Orleans, which leads to it being a prime opportunity for some rogue vampires to abduct a group of college freshmen. When one of the girls runs into the Voodoo Dolls shop begging for help, Jenna cannot help but get involved. This time, however, they are all stronger and better at fighting and the Witches Council even helps them a little by agreeing to give them some charms and spells to use in their fight against these vampires. Working alongside the wolves in Rico's packs, they made for a great team.
I much preferred this book to the first one and it was great to see how the girls were maturing and understanding so much more about what they could and couldn't do within the world of the supernaturals! It was a fun, quick read and I'm jumping straight into the last book in this trilogy to se what the Witches Council wants with them now!
Whilst Jenna and the other Dolls prepare for Hurricane Gerttie, some vampires are preparing for something completely different which becomes apparent when 8 freshman students go missing from the local university. It must be very concerning as even the local witches council give Jenna and the Dolls help the a wolf shifter pack with getting the girls back from the vampires.
Great second book in the series with the girls getting involved in another paranormal emergency involving vampires. There was drama and suspense in spades in this book. Just when you thought surely they would have some time for a rest and to get back to normal, something else happened. The story was well written and everything was clear and easy to feel the thoughts and emotions involved. It seems that everything is developing in this story and I can tell that the next installment in the story is going to be full of drama again.
Let this Hurricane whisk you of on a Magical read! Calling a hurricane a fresh breeze might be a bit of a understatement, but thats what this magical hurricane really is (fresh)! This is definitly a good read, Its fun, enjoyable, awesome, engaging..and it absolutly blew me away (pun intended!)!! The characters are well developed, the dialogue engaging, the twists and turns in the intrigue has (me) the reader totally immersed and captivated. It gives such a good feeling, making (me) the reader wanna join in a cheer or something similar. I absolutly Love This authors books, they always tend to convey that special feeling, that the reader is part of the team, not just a reader, or an outsider.. but a part of this awesome crew. Hats of and salutes for another superb book! My opinion and unbiased review is a matter of integrity. I was given this book as an ARC, in exchange for a impartial opinion. This does not change, impair, steer or in any way change what my opinion or reviews says.
The second full Voodoo Dolls book is just as good as the first if not better !! War is coming and the Dolls get help with some spells to help keep them alive while they help Rico and the wolf pack to find missing co-eds during a Category 2 Hurricane, and if you've never been thru a hurricane, being held by vampires might be better.... Nope vampires with no morals are definitely worse !! I can't get enough of the Voidoo Dolls !! 5⭐'s !! I'm voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review.
The sisters are busy learning, fighting and finding their men.
Seems to be a lot of college girls disappearing, supposedly all with notes left behind saying they couldn't handle the stress of school. During the hurricane a weather camera catches the dead body of one of the girls. Rico, the pack, the witches and the sisters go on high alert hunting the college girls.
Another hurricane in New Orleans, just another day in the life, except a dead body washes up and has fang holes in it. The local wolf pack is now on the scent of the suspected rogue vampires believed behind the death and the girls want to help too. The girls find out soon enough that they aren't quite ready for full out hunting.
The New Orleans voodoo doll ride continues with the Hurricane of Magic book. Once again the author takes the reader on a magical journey of battles between vampires and werewolves and of course the super determined ladies known as the Voodoo Dolls. Can't wait for book #3 to come out this summer. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of the book.
The Dolls are back kicking vampire butt and helping Rico and his pack. Hendricks has taken NOLA to a new level with werewolves protecting humans from vampires and add witches, voodoo, magic and the Dolls. I would highly recommend this book and series.
I adore this series. Fast paced, funny, well written, yet doesn't take itself too seriously. The character work is fabulous, the settings well researched, the plot flows effortlessly. Excellent for all fans of paranormal.
I am loving this series! Jenna and her sisters crack me up with some of the stuff they say and do. I also love the hint of romance between a couple of the sisters and the pack
I have read several of the Voodoo Dolls books and have loved each one. I am eager for more to be released. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about werewolves, witches, and vampires.
Exciting new Voodoo Dolls vs vampires story. Jenna taking too many risks as usual. Rico is gradually getting closer to Jenna but needs to step down from his Alpha behaviour. Romance, dangerous decisions and a hurricane to contend with. Cant wait for next book. Read with my KU subscription.
This story is about building on the relationships of book 1. The familiarity of the characters builds as the story progresses making it relatable and realistic.
Start with a rock band called The Voodoo Dolls, add werewolves and just to complete the flavor mix in witches, vampires and acolytes, missing college co-eds and the adventure begins. Jenna and her sisters, along with their friends Rico and his pack of werewolves prepare for the coming hurricane in New Orleans. As they work together to save their possessions, evil brews in city. Young college students go missing only to have bodies show up as the hurricane ends. Who are these girls, and what is happening to them? Rico, Jenna and their cohorts are drawn into the mystery determined to find out and rescue any survivors. A fun read as we watch the Voodoo Dolls improve their fighting skills at the hands of Rico and his pack. Can they find the missing girls in time to save them or will they become among the missing?
