Lovely Mary Larkin, the hardworking and devoted office manager for the Abbott family’s Green Mountain Country Store has finally found her prince charming – Patrick Murphy, Cameron’s dad. The ultra-rich and powerful business magnate’s heart has been stolen by the small town girl as well. A widower for years after having lost his wife during childbirth, Patrick raised Cameron as a single father. He’s made some mistakes along the way. His affairs aren’t something he’s proud to acknowledge. He’s a l ...more

5 Star Review of Can't Buy Me Love (Butler Vermont #2) by Marie Force

I have been waiting not so patiently for Mary Larkin and Patrick Murphy's story and all I can say is it was so worth the wait.

Mary and Patrick met when he visited town for his daughter Cameron's wedding.

Mary, the office manager at the Abbott's Green Mountain Country Store is intrigued by the obscenely rich, suave and debonair Patrick; whilst he is just as interested.

Patrick despite being warned off by Cameron, engages in a m

CAN'T BUY ME LOVE is the second book in the Butler, Vermont series. Mary Larkin is the office manager at the Abbott's family Green Mountain Country Store and she has been a part of the Abbott family for many many years. She has been seeing Cameron's dad, Patrick, on the down low for a short time, but he wants to take it public and let everyone know. Mary has her doubts because she is an office worker and Patrick is a very very rich and powerful man. Mary isn't sure if

My major draw to any author is an ability I like to call author's intuition. All authors have it. Some are better at it than others, but knowing what appeals to readers is an absolute MUST. Whether tempting with subtlety, seducing with heat or teetering on the edge of danger, Marie Force knows how to get inside a readers head and appeal to their deepest emotions. Buried within every story she creates and each character she writes are the fears we struggle with, the values that we've come to love ...more

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this story and I'm so glad I did! I enjoy all of Marie Force's novels and this one did not disappoint. I loved getting to know Mary and Patrick, Cameron's dad, more in this story. As a couple they fit seamlessly and perfectly. This story is full of humor, love, and the characters we all fell in love with (including Fred). I encourage everyone to read this story! It's a story that shows you that it's never too late to find that special someone and when you do t ...more

Can’t buy me love is one book I’ve been waiting for and I can tell you I absolutely loved it….. I literally devoured the book within a couple of hours…. It was that good……
This book follows the story of Mary Larkin, who works as the office manager at the Green Mountain Country Store and Patrick Murphy, who is Cameron’s dad. He comes into the store to visit Cameron, in You’ll be Mine and sparks instantly fly.
Mary and Patrick are so opposite……. Mary loves her quiet peaceful life in Butler, she wor

I enjoy books featuring older couples, but it defeats the purpose when the heroine Mary is as insecure as a 13 year old girl. She had absolutely no basis for her fears and that was what frustrated me with this. Patrick did nothing wrong, he's perfect ( boring) . This was a snooze fest. This was a struggle to get through but I persevered as I didn't want to miss anything that may have been relevant to Will's book which is next. (There wasn't) 2 stars.

I can honestly say that I have very few authors where I will continue to read a series. Somewhere along the line, the story line falls off and I just stop reading. That being said, Marie Force is one of the exceptions. I absolutely love reading all of her books. I haven't come across one yet that I didn't love. Can't Buy Me Love is a great addition to this series. I read this book in a few hours because I couldn't put it down. I like that it touches on things that goes through your mind when you ...more

As a fan of Marie Force's Green Mountain Series, which has now become her Butler, Vermont series I was thrilled to see Patrick and Mary's story. Mary is the office manager for the Abbots at the Green Mountain Country Store. Patrick is Cameron's billionaire father from New York City. She thinks she is plain an simple, he think she has hung the moon. She is a small town girl. He is a billionaire Mogul in NYC. Will their two worlds work together?

What I love most about this book is that it overlaps

Mary Larkin has a settled life in Vermont. She loves working at the Green Mountain Country Store and the tight knit community that she lives in. Her calm world is set spinning when she meets Cam’s dad, Patrick Murphy. The sexy businessman leads a very different life than she is used to, but there is something about him that draws her in.

Patrick is also intrigued by the woman who works so closely with his daughter. He hasn’t had a serious relationship since his wife passed away 30 years

What a great story about a man, Patrick, who never thought he'd ever love again after losing the love of his life during childbirth. Enter Mary, who thought she had found the man she would spend her life with after college only to find out his future plans didn't include her.
When these two unite, sparks fly! It was a refreshing read for me as I'm getting "older" to read a beautiful happy story about second chances at love! Marie wrote a great one for these two and I can't wait to read her next b

Very sweet romance with a good amount of steam. I came to the Vermont series and Green Mountain series mid stream and am still "playing catch-up". These stories are easy reads which leave the reader with a sense of enjoyment. A good read.

Marie has done it again with the story of Mary and Patrick. Neither of them New that Cam and Will's wedding was going to change their lives forever. As always, a well written moving book that won't let you put it down.

Some years ago, I discovered the Green Mountain books by Marie Force. Cameron, the daughter of one of the main figures in this new novel, was the main figure back then and I had a great time reading it. Well, this time I wasnt as thrilled with this series, as I used to be. Something has changed. The tone isnt the same anymore, although the author hasnt changed her writing style.

Mary is happy with her life. She loves her job at the Green Mountain Store, the Abbott family runs

The Abbott family is, hands down, my favorite "book family" ever! I rarely, if ever, re-read a book but I've read Cameron and Will's story multiple times. I think it's the setting that makes this series extra special. Something that always sticks out for me is the mention of Mar

I won an Advanced Review Copy of this amazing and wonderful story for my honest review.

I can't begin to tell you what a wonderful job Marie Force did with her writing skills and vivid imagination. It's quite refreshing to read about a mature couple possibly finding love again the second time around (not with each other). Patrick's and Mary's story began at Will and Cameron's wedding. Patrick is Cameron's father and Mary works at the store in Butler, Vermont for Lincoln and Molly. Their story sta

This story was a romantic delight, well-paced and well-written. Marie Force writes easy to love, real life characters straight from the heart. This beautiful story of soulmates was a refreshing and feel-good read that I devoured in one sitting.

Sparks instantly flew when Mary Larkin, the office manager for the Green Moutain Country Store, met Patrick Murphy, an uber-wealthy business magnate from New York. Patrick has been a widow for years, since he lost his wife in childbirth.

Love knows no bounds ~ not even age. Falling in love when you are middle aged can be just as thrilling and lustful as when you were in your twenties. This is Mary and Patrick's story as they pursue a friendship and ultimately, a relationship.

For the first time in thirty years, a woman has turned Patrick's head and intrigued him. He is willing to take it slow and build a foundation of friendship with her in order to ascertain if they are compatible.

From Mary's point of view, she is overjoyed, sc

Omg. Loved this book. What an amazing love story. Loved Patrick and Mary's love story. Both had lost love and found love. A very touching and heartwarming story. Finished this book last night. 😙👏

This was such a heartwarming book to read about people who are around my age or a wee bit older. It was nice to see that they didn't lose that spark and that love can happen the second time around and sex can be just as good if not better in your 50's as it was in your 20's or 30's. Finally a book that comes out of the commonplace. No couples too young, full of existential problems in their heads. Here the plot is different.
Two souls already experienced and successful in their work.
Mary loves what she does as an office manager and loves living in Butler.
Patrick has been a widower for 30 years (he has had some love affairs over the years), is a billionaire and just has married a daughter.

Marie Force has created a wonderful series based on the Abbott family from Butler, Vermont. The previous books have focused on family members but in this book, she writes about two ancillary characters.. Mary Larkin and Patrick Murphy.

Mary works for the Abbotts in their store and leads a rather ordinary life. She is involved in her church and in community activities and is content to live in a small town which she loves. Patrick is a billionaire who travels all over the world and is used to the

I really enjoyed Can't Buy Me Love. The second in the renamed Butler, Vermont Series. This one featuring Camerons dad and billionaire Patrick and Green Mountain Office Manger and longtime friend of the Abbott family Mary.

Patrick & Mary a love story for us older readers. CBML had me laughing and tears flowing at the same time and one hot hot couple in the bedroom. Marie, every time I read one of your stories regardless of which series the story always seems better. However it's going to be difficult to top Patrick & Mary's story.
