This was an engaging and enjoyable medieval novel with a Christian flavour. While the story didn't have a lot of surprises, it was still an entertaining ride and I liked the main characters and was happy to be take on their romantic journey with them. Recommended.

It was ok

It was ok. I enjoyed the clean read. The story was a bit dry in places and the prince irritated me.

I really liked this book a lot! I enjoyed the medieval time period and I both read a physical copy and listened to the audio version. I thought the reader, Cecily White, did a superb job of using so many different accents and intonations with the various characters, which added to the pleasure of reading the book.

The story centers around Anika Pembrie whose family's cider business is ruined and then other business follow by being vandalized. Anika is bound and determined to find out who is behi

Loosely based on the late Middle Ages, the Kingdom of Brevalia roughly parallels England in climate and politics, a monarchy interacting with a senate composed of nobles and merchants. The balance of power is shifting and civil war is threatened, thwarting the budding romance of our heroine, Anika. I picked up early on the "culprits" (yes, there are cozy mystery elements) although I didn't quite get all the details right, but the political twists and turns reminded me a bit of "House of Cards"- ...more

There is mischief afoot in Brevalia: destroyed property, confusion, and murder. Who is behind all of the heinous crimes? Anika, the independent daughter of an apple cider farmer and former lady, sets off to get the answer to the happenings of Brevalia through prayer and determination. Anika friends the newly returned Prince Val, and it is not long before the two began to feel more than friendship. It took me awhile to get into this story, but once I did I really liked it. Anika was a very likable character, strong as well as caring. She hated to see anyone being taken advantage of, and she didn't want to be taken advantage of herself. Now, the Prince - what a different kind of character he was. I think mostly he just wanted to keep the peace around him, so he did whatever he had to do not to rock the boat - but I also think that he saw more than Anika thought he saw and was working more i ...more

i loved this book. The plot was complex and different from anything i had read in the past and i read a lot of books a year!! There were lots of plot twists, the story kept me guessing until the very end when the twist came out, and even then there was more!!

i really can't say enough good things. the story takes place in a fictional location in a fictional time frame and was very creative. i loved all the characters, even the villains were likable- or easy to hate.

There are underton

This was an entertaining read with a quick, catchy start. It involves Anika, a rather fiery and outspoken main character who isn’t afraid to shoot a crossbow or do whatever needs to be done to solve the mysteries of unexplained arson, vandalism, and murder.

The pacing was good, with no stagnant spots. It could just be me, but every time I read “Prince Valdemar,” I thought of Lord Valdemort from the Harry Potter series…which was amusing but probably not the right vibe for the male roma

This book has everything I love in a medieval story! A brave heroine, Anika has intelligence, and wants to work hard to help her family, especially after their business is all but destroyed. She wants to be useful, far more than just making an advantage marriage, especially when the suitor everyone seems to want her to marry is not her choice. It doesn't help that she's developing a friendship, and perhaps something more, with Prince Valdemar. He may be the future king, but he lives in his grand ...more

Didn't love this book.

I thought the premise of the story was good. It had potential but for me it didn't deliver. I felt like everyone was pretty whiney and judgmental. Valdemar and Anika's relationship didn't seem genuine. I didn't really feel it. They were awfully critical of each other. I also felt like there were inconsistencies in the way Anika acted. In one moment she wanted the Prince to not make waves and do what he needed to so as to keep the peace. Then in the next he was supposed

This clèan YA historical fiction features a strong female protaganist, that knows what she wants ad goes after ït. There is plenty of suspense that draws the listener from the start.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Cecily White does an amazing job with accents. I enjoyed this very much and will look for more from this narrator.

The time period of this novel is brought to life beautifully by the setting, voice and character details. While reading, I felt I was at the ball with Anika or strolling down the Main Street. The tension between the classes, intensified by vandalism to local businessees, is woven in well with the romance. Both plot lines have more than enough twists to keep you turning the page! I didn't start out liking Prince Valdemar but I was cheering hard for the him and Anika (and against Lady Winifred) by ...more

I wish these places would let me do 4 1/2 stars...or that I could figure out how to do that. This was a wonderful novel. Great clean Historical Romance. The author got right into the story quickly (which had me hooked quickly) and kept me turning the pages. Pacing was good, but there were places where the story felt a little YA. That's a hard line to walk between a Clean Read for adults and a YA book. The romance was refreshing and drove the story well. The main character, Anika, is well fleshed ...more

I really enjoyed this clean teen mystery/romance and believe that listeners of all ages will also. Anika and Prince Valdemar were very likeable characters and the story had enough plot twists to keep me guessing. A fun story, mystery and romance all came together nicely, with everything resolved at the end. Cecily White as narrator was excellent and added to my enjoyment. I would recommend Royally Entitled: Brides of Brevalia, Book 1.

Cutesie

This book read like a middle grade--the romance was so platonic, her attraction to the prince was not believable! It was if she fawned over a brother. Sorry, but I couldn't finish this book.

Sexual tension *can* be written without the guilt, you know!

I would recommend this to middle grade fans!

Melody Delgado pulled me into the story from the first. Anika encounters Prince Valdemar, future king, but realizes there is no chance for them. The many plot twists keep me guessing. An enjoyable read.

A wonderful combination of romance and mystery!

Royally Entitled is a sweet romance but it is so much more than romance. Interwoven is a mystery that keeps you guessing and turning the page.

I was lucky enough to receive a free audiobook of this from the narrator.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I loved the storyline and the characters. Anika and the Prince were really cute together. I loved the mystery behind the whole story. I felt like it kept my interest and made me want to see if my prediction was correct.

The narrator was fantastic. She really captured all of the characters' voices in a very unique way. I really enjoyed listening to her performance.

The Audio:
I really enjoyed the narrator’s choices for the secondary characters. I think they fit them nicely and that helped bring the story to life. However, the two main characters’ voices didn’t sound right to me. The prince’s voice was a bit slow and tired sounding, while Anika’s was made to sound like a frail, naive little girl. Most of the time, it sounded like she was asking a question despite making a statement, with a little lilt at the end. I think this greatly and negatively contrasted h

With prestige, money and power, there also comes responsibility. Being born into nobility is not a guarantee that one will always be loved and admired, let alone trusted. All of these things must be earned. And, for the one born to be king, this is an even more onerous undertaking, as there are always those of almost equal power who will try to destroy whatever good, honorable deed the would-be king tries to undertake.
