Lucius Loudon made quite the impression in the previous installment of the Taming the Heart series. A negative impression that is. He was a drunk and acted like a petulant child. Not a very likable character indeed. At the end of that story he had given up his drinking ways and was aboard a boat heading for America where Barrett was giving him a chance to prove that he truly wanted to change.

In Taming a Rogue Earl about six years have passed and Lucius has indeed given up alcohol and done a fine

Taming a Rogue Earl is the sixth book in the Taming the Heart series, and as with the prior books it can be read as a standalone novel. With this one, more so than the prior books, I would certainly suggest picking up the prior books if you want the full experience of the story. Each story is connected through the characters, yet this one is based quite heavily upon events in prior books. There are enough references for you to understand the story without the prior books, but a much deeper under ...more

Taming A Rogue Earl by Tammy Andresen is a fairly quick historical romance, a great choice for those with limited time for reading. Ms Andresen has delivered a well-written book. Lucius and May's story is loaded with amazing, lovable characters. You have to admire May's determination. There is plenty of drama, humor, action and sizzle to keep readers engaged in this fabulous book. I adore the characters and enjoyed reading Taming A Rogue Earl. I look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. Ta ...more

Lord Lucius Loudoun was a drunk but six years later & he’s running Barrett Maddox’s American businesses & he hasn’t touched a drop of booze in all that time.
May Stanly has loved Loudoun since she was a child, but he looks straight through her, still treating her like she's a girl of thirteen instead of a woman of twenty. I thoroughly disliked Lucius in the previous book & wondered if he could redeem himself. I needn’t have feared, he’s a changed man, he now works hard & enjoys it

I received this in exchange for an honest review.
Lucius Loudoun is an Earl, as well as a drunk and a womanizer. He first meets May on a transatlantic journey from England to NY when she is only 13 years old in 1860. Jump ahead to 1866. Lucius has managed to stay sober all these years and has become a successful businessman. May once again comes to NY, only now she is all grown up and beautiful. When they reconnect May realizes she is in love with Lucius and wants to marry him. He does not feel w

A bit too repetitive for my taste.

I don’t love you, oh but I want you, oh but I’m not good enough for you, oh but I can’t love you, oh but I want you, oh but I’m no good for you ad nauseam. Then finally, imagine this, he does love her, he still wants her and she’ll have him anyways.
TAMING A ROGUE EARL by Tammy Andresen is a compelling but heart-wretching story of a young lady and a past alcoholic who became friends in the previous book. While, book 6 it can be read as a stand alone, I'd suggest reading the previous book first, for a bit of back story of May and Lucius. But not necessary to enjoy this book.

This is the story of May Stanley, a 20 year old lady and Lord Lucius Loudoun, an alcoholic, who is now a shrewd businessman. This story takes place in America, in 1866. M

Lord Lucius Loudoun has had a hard time in life and love, a man down on his luck a reprobate and a drunk.
After a failed attempt at marriage for all the wrong reasons - to replenish the coffers for the Earldom. Luckily for Lady Flora Segrave she married the man she loved! He fell deeper into drinking and it almost killed him, if it wasn't for Barrett Maddox the sixth Duke of Manchester who gave him a chance to turn his life around, boarding The Destiny on the voyage from England to America his on

Taming a Rogue Earl was a short and sweet historical read. It kept me reading throughout and I couldn't wait to finish it. When you think of an Earl, you think of England. However this story takes place in America, which was a nice change in pace. I'm not much of a history buff but it is always fun to read historical works no matter how accurate they are or not.

Loudoun is a man who has made many mistakes in his past. In order to start fresh, he gives up the live of an Earl and leads the life of

This book is the last so far in a fun series by an author who writes a compelling and entertaining story. It is about a young woman, May, who sails to America with one of her adopted guardians from Regency England to check on the family business being run successfully by Lucius, a redeemed earl saved from the evils of alcohol. May and Lucius knew each other eight years ago and were friends on his voyage to live there.

For one so young, she is a woman who well knows her own mind and what she want

This book features the drunk Earl, Lucius Loudoun, from the previous book, and May, the younger cousin from Lizzie's book (two or three books ago). Six years after Loudoun nearly ruins Flora's life (yeah, I hated him in that book), he is in New York running the American branch of the Maddox shipping company. Barrett comes for a routine audit, bringing nineteen year old May along with him. May, being barely more than a child, has a fanciful idea of finding an American husband so she doesn't have ...more

“You’re innocent….And I am ruined in all the worst ways”
I have enjoyed all the stories in this series. The latest book, Taming a Rogue Earl, takes place in New York City in 1866. The main lead, Lord Lucius Loudoun, was not a favorite character of mine from the prior book but Ms Andresen soon had me rooting for him. She believably turned him into a successful business man. He was redeemed in my eyes and a hero – well done! He is suffering with thoughts that he’ll never be what any woman needs a

This is the 6th book in the Taming the Heart Series and is a story of a tortured soul and the woman that tries to save him. Lord Lucious Loudon is trying to outrun his addiction and takes a ship to America from England with his friend Barrett, the Duke of Manchester and Barrett's ward May. Granted May is only 13 but makes Lucious's journey bearable and helps him with his problems. Years later, Barrett and May come back to America to visit and Lucious is stunned at how beautiful May has grown. Ma ...more

Lucius is one guy I have been wanting to learn some background info on. His serious drinking problem almost killed him in the last book I read. Now he is working in America for Barrett Maddox. During his "work", not only does Barrett show up, but he brings along another ghost from Lucius's past. The girl who basically nursed him back to health on his voyage over to America: May. That was six years ago. Now she's a woman of 19 and secretly looking for a husband so she doesn't have to return to En ...more

Taming A Rogue Earl by Tammy Andresen is the 6th book in Taming The Duke’s Heart series. Tammy is a brilliant writer and you just fall in love with all her bold characters. Her descriptions are so visual that you have no problems seeing the story and where it is going. This story has a recovering alcoholic, a child’s romantic dreams, business deals, infatuation, uncertainty, loneliness, unworthiness, joy, abduction, attempted rape, kindness, misunderstandings, gambling and love. Miss May Stanly and Lord Lucius Loudoun met aboard The Destiny bound for America, she was a lovely thirteen year old, travelling with the Duke of Manchester, and he was an impoverished earl who was feeling ill, suffering from seasickness and alcohol withdrawal. They struck an unlikely friendship.

That was six years ago, Lucius, who manages the Maddox Shipping in America, has been sober for all those years. May, has come to New York to look for a husband. A gorgeous man and an exquisite woman, one

Ugh! So glad to be through with this annoying book. The unworthy and insecure yet alpha male vis~a~vis the crusading self~sacrificing maiden has been a "done to death" theme already. It actually had a very promising Prologue then it got to be painfully tiresome but because it is relatively a short read, I plodded on through Loudoun's tedious long winding angst and the sexy scenes (which is by the way, what this book is mostly about) and to be fair there were some Truths in there but those did no ...more

I really enjoyed this story concerning Lucius and May. Lucius was in the previous book and I didn't like his character at all. However he more than redeemed himself in this book and he fitted the character of a hero. May is quite a determined and headstrong character and there were some sizzling scenes between them. This was set in America, a change from England or Scotland. I look forward to the next book.
I received an arc and have voluntarily reviewed it. This is my honest review.

How to like a bad guy!

I was impressed by how you could take not very nice man from the last book and make him into the hero! awesome I like how she maneuvered to make it all work out . you really felt sorry for him and you wanted him to get the girl not to ruin the story ! I enjoyed her writing.
