I had never read Karen Rose, but having heard so much about her books, I thought I would try this. It turns out this might not have been the best decision as it is the 4th in the Cincinnati series, with characters from other books in the series turning up here. It meant that at times I felt a little at a loss, not having read others in the series. Nevertheless, I still managed to enjoy reading this thriller. Adam Kimble is a homicide detective who had a short lived relationship in the past with ...more

These are not standalone stories. At a minimum, you need to at least start with the first book in the books tagged as Cincinnati, ideally beginning from the first book in the larger series. You will NOT understand the underpinnings of the stories. It matters.

Meredith Fallon takes Mallory Martin out to lunch to celebrate her first day out since being rescued four months ago after being held captive for six years. She’s signed up for adult education classes, a major step towards taking control of

This story was a great crime thriller that will have you turning pages like crazy! I picked up this title because I battle a severe form of PTSD and sometimes I enjoy reading how others cope with it whether it be fiction or not. The author had great descriptions of the characters emotions and you can feel the intensity through the pages. I love a good crime thriller and Karen Rose definitely delivered! There are three things you always get in a Karen Rose novel: 1) a lot of bodies; 2) a hot romance; 3) a mystery that grabs you and won't let you go. What more can you ask from any Romantic-Suspense book? You can read this one as a standalone, but at the least, you should read the other Cincinnati Series books as these main characters are supporting in those earlier books. If reading the whole 20 book series seems daunting, a better series you won't find.

Adam Kimble was a real asswipe in the prev

Karen Rose has done it again you guys! Another nail-biting, romantic suspense with many twists and turn, with characters I've grown to love and am sure you will too. I couldn't wait to read this book, but unfortunately I had to hold off because I hadn't read book #2 and #3 of the Cincinnati series yet- I mean yes I could have gone ahead and read it but I didn't want any spoilers for those two books, and as they all connected

This carries on the segment that this author has involved her readers in set in and around Cincinnati and honestly I somehow suspect that several of these characters will be revisited no matter what the synopsis says. Why do I feel this? Well honestly there are just so many characters involved here that the author would be crazy not to go back at some point and flesh them out more. That's also unfortunately why I knocked a half mark off as because it's such an ensemble piece I did in

Edge of Darkness by Karen Rose is one of those books that I just had to keep reading. By rights I shouldn't even like it, it is full of crime, nasty crime and so many killings. However its the fight of good against evil and I know the evil is going to be eventually overcome.

I've only read two other books in this series but I want to go back and read all of them! Some day! In the meantime this was perfect and while it is part of a series it can stand alone, although it doesn't hurt to have met th

The very first thing I want to point out about this book is that it is being marketed as the final book in the Cincinnati series. However, having spoken to Karen Rose on Twitter I can confirm that this is not the case and there will be more! :)

So, to get on with the review. There is a reason that Karen Rose remains one of my all time favourite authors and books like Edge of Darkness really serve to highlight those reasons. Part of the Cincinnati series, Edge of Darkness features some of our fav

***ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review***

Edge of Darkness is fourth book in the Cincinnati series by Karen Rose. It is a gripping and emotional romantic suspense novel. The main characters are interesting and well-developed and the story moves along quickly, drawing you from one twist to the next. However, while it is a stand-alone novel, the sheer number of characters can get confusing if you haven’t read the previous books. Edge of Darkness has a fascinating cast of rec

I really enjoyed this romantic suspense. I was absorbed throughout this 600+ page book with all the exciting action and twists and turns. I liked seeing characters from early books. Heroine was terrific and hero eventually atoned. Psychologist Meredith is held at gunpoint, barely escapes and in panic calls old flame detective Adam who leads what turns into a complex investigation.

I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Karen Rose writes amazing characters grabbing my heart and stomping on it,  in a world of dark, mysterious suspense. She has built a frighteningly realistic world of criminals, law enforcement, and those who help the victims. The couples in each book have struggled with their lives and careers

Karen Rose is my guilty pleasure. I find them really entertaining. I love the romance. I can even keep up with all of the many characters. This is one series that has to be read, from the start. They do make sense as standalones, to some extent. All of the characters know each other, from the previous stories. Edge of Darkness takes us to Book 4 in the Cincinatti Series. This is Adam and Meredith’s story.

Yay! So we finally got to Adam and Meredith's story! For the most part, this book had a nice fast pace, but it did get a little bogged down in parts. Much as I love Karen Rose's books, I really think they could benefit by knocking a 100 or so pages off of the length.

Having said that, I found myself wavering between suspects for most of the book. This author is almost always able to keep you guessing until she's finally ready to reveal the "baddie."

Looking forward to the next book, and hoping she

This is the final novel in this series, so make sure you have read the others first as well. This novel was fast paced and everything that I wanted for this read. A thrilling hunt for a killer while simultaneously a story about falling in love? The Law and Order fan in me was all over it.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Headline for an advance copy of Edge of Darkness, the fourth novel in the Cincinnati series.

Meredith Fallon is celebrating the progress Mallory Martin, a young victim of abuse whom she has been counselling, has made in her recovery by taking her for lunch. They have hardly sat down when a reluctant gunman approaches them and tells them to run. In the ensuing standoff the gunman is shot in the head and dies and Meredith barely escapes a second bullet. Edge of Darkness gives us a man who is fighting for both his sanity and his sobriety all while trying to track a killer who is attempting to kill the woman he cares about.

Adam Kimble had been on the edge for a while. Dealing with PTSD from the things he has seen as a Homicide detective and used alcohol to kill the pain. He met Meredith Fallon at cusp of this and has been avoiding her due to AA's recommendation of no relationship for the first year of sobriety. He knows that he's hurt her badly

Boy, there was so much going on in this one, so many story lines coming to a head and so many of the past characters that showed up playing a small role. It made for great reading!

I think the best thing about this book was that Adam was finally facing up to things, to himself, to his friends and most especially to Meredith. It was nice to see that no one reacted the way he thought they would, instead they supported him and sort of made him wonder what would have happened if he had asked for help

WOW! Karen Rose gives us another dark and chilling thriller!

The action starts right out of the gate and speeds full throttle throughout the entire 640 pages! I could not put this book down! Adam and Meredith are brilliantly crafted! Their characters are complex, flawed and genuine, as are all the characters in the Cincinnati branch of the Romantic Suspense series!

I'll always get sucked in to Karen Rose books no matter if there are some flaws. Always packed with a hot couple battling their own demons while also battling horrible set of murders.

Meredith Fallon, along with her friend and client Mallory, is caught in crossfire when a young man blows up in front of her in a cafe seconds after holding her up at gun point. Adam Kimble is called on the scene and things begin to heat up intimately and death wise.

Adam has battled a breakdown from a case a year

3.5 stars. Another thrilling Karen Rose novel. I liked the previous ones in this series a bit better but I am glad these two lovebirds had their own story as I have always been a fan of Meredith. I would recommend reading the first book in the series first as it spoils the stories of the previous books.

Captivatingly addictive with a shocking outcome! From the very start of this book I was drawn into the mystery of who was secretly pulling the strings of all of the goings ons around the area, and why. Here and there it would lead us to suspect one person, then a little later we might think it's someone else.
