This is a valuable little book for Indie Authors to help them appreciate the road ahead from when they finish writing their manuscript, to preparing a book for sale, and then developing their online presence and marketing strategy.

The book is divided into 3 main Parts: i) Pre-Publishing, ii) Building the Author Platform, and iii) Post-Publishing.

The Pre-Publishing Section has some really useful pointers which help the author prepare for what lies beyond them finishing their story

BEING INDIE by Eeva Lancaster is a no-nonsense guide to Indie Authors, whether beginner or experienced, you will benefit from reading this book. I wish it had been available when I began my career as an Indie writer, things would definitely have gone better for me with such a guide in hand..

BEING INDIE is chock-full of information to keep authors on the straight and narrow path they must tread, especially once they have proudly typed, “The End” on their finished manuscript. Newbies basking in th

Highly recommend. Being Indie is a valuable tool for people launching their career, and seasoned authors making the switch to indie. The book is written in a conversational manner, and it contains heaps of easy to read information to guide you through the complications of self-publishing. It provided answers to all my questions.

Being indie is not easy. But, thanks to this invaluable book penned by esteemed industry professional, Eeva Lancaster, it now seems a lot simpler.

There a lot of myths surrounding this relatively-new trade, and the author sets out to debunk them. She does so with calm logic, a must for the average independent author who's struggling to get their head around a complex and ever-changing business. There is no miracle cure offered; instead the reader is given a comprehensive checklist of actions to t

Being Indie by Eeva Lancaster is exactly what I've come to expect from this punchy and feisty author. She states early on in the book she hates bullshit and there is no bullshit in Being Indie. It is a powerful, straight-forward and easy to follow step-by-step guide on how to launch yourself into the world of Indie Publishing.
I expect for established Indie Authors this book will be an invaluable reference tool that we can check on from time to time when stumped with an issue, but for those new

This book demystifies the many aspects of self-publishing and presents them in a no-nonsense approach that I found refreshing. Other books might exist on the subject, but I have yet to read one that offers this level of clarification. Ms. Lancaster says it as it is, without sugar-coating it, and gives the indie author a realistic direction to follow, saving a considerable amount of time, money, and headaches. The information presented is thoughtful, well written, and more useful than most books ...more

Being a indie author can be like being only one star in the night sky filled with other author stars. How can you get you and your book to shine brighter? That's a question all newcomers to the indie world ask. BEING INDIE tackles those questions. Eeva Lancaster is blunt and straightforward as she explains, in detail, how to dive into the world of being an Indie author. Everything you need to know is laid out. From building an audience, finding the right editor, cover designer, and much more, Ee ...more

As Ms. Lancaster’s other self-help and workbooks, BEING INDIE is written in an organized and easy-to-follow matter. Her instructions are straightforward and no-nonsense. It was subtitled, “A No Holds Barred Self-Publishing Guide for Fiction Authors.” However, I do think the content is helpful for authors of all genre.
I encourage all authors, or anyone considering joining the writing world, to read this book, including those who have taken the 'traditional' route. This book opens your mind about

This book is really targeted towards Indie authors. Why am I reading it? Curiosity and knowledge gain! Although, I can't see myself being a fiction author anytime soon, if ever, I found this book to be very informative. There is also the sense of relief and admiration, knowing that this author genuinely puts her heart in this book to encourage her fellow authors succeed. Success is no guarantee but, knowing that the right steps have been taken, the satisfaction of publishing a decent book is a r ...more

A worthwhile read from an expert in the field

Eeva Lancaster did a phenomenal job in writing ‘BEING INDIE: A No Holds Barred Self-Publishing Guide for Fiction Authors’.
If you’re just considering writing your first book or you’re already in the publishing stage or you’re about to release your second book, you’ve got to read ‘Being Indie’. It is a comprehensive hands-on approach from a down to earth perspective.

If you are an Indie writer you will need this!

Being one myself there is so much information contained in this book that I wished I known when I set out on this road. Nothing is missed and it is set out step by step in logical, no-nonsense sequence. If you are considering publishing by yourself this book is a must.

As an indie author, I found the advice in this book extremely basic. However, if you were just starting out and had only contemplated self publishing a book, you might find a lot of this information new and interesting.

I truly wish this that this book had been published when I first started writing. It would have saved me a great deal of time seeking answers to the numerous questions I had as an inexperienced writer
and would have prevented me from making several mistakes. This easy to read book provides all the that a new writer contemplating self publishing should require and even the more experienced writer will find a wealth of information contained within it.

Good Referencing For Indie Authors

There is so much Indie Authors do not know about book publishing even down to the littlest information. I thought everything brought up was useful. Enough was not said about book formatting. Example: What do you do when you have just a short story and you are not working with chapters. Will using separator symbols help the person who formats your document know that page breaks can be placed there? Its just a quirky item but important just the same.

Anyway I will

Just... Wow! Eeva really nails it with this concise, comprehensive walk-through of just what it takes to be self-published. While following these guidelines won't, in and of themselves, make you a successful author, you don't even begin to have a shot at being at if you *don't* follow them! Eeva's advice is very down-to-earth and straight-forward, and full of common sense. As well, it's backed by her own experience not just as a writer but as a graphics designer and promoter. As a fairly new ebook author myself, I was intrigued to see just how practical a guide this would be for those in my position. I started making notes on all the useful tips it provided and have to say they total ten pages in all! Eeva stresses how crucial quality is throughout and explains how to achieve it. She covers both print and ebook publishing and highlights all the pitfalls to avoid. She also lists a host of free resources available on the internet. She covers in detail the subject that ...more

A must read for Indie Authors!

Being Indie is a fantastic how to guide that every Indie author should read. I only wish I’d read it two years ago before I self-published because it definitely would have saved me a lot time and effort trying to figure it all out on my own. Highly recommend! If you’re planning on self-publishing, pause and read Being Indie before you do!

Being Indie is perfect for the absolute beginners, but I doubt more experienced authors would find much news in it. It covers familiar ground with stern admonishments to have your books edited, how to create a professional cover, warnings against vanity publishers, and more.

(Speaking of editing: this book does not mention an editor in the front, and despite the author’s own stringent advice on hiring an editor, seems to have a number of grammatical errors…which, of course, is quite bitchy to poi

Those who know me well, know that I'm always on the hunt for new reads - especially if they're helpful. As a future indie author, I'm also keenly interested in books on self-publishing. So it wasn't a big surprise when an indie author friend all but threw a title at me, with a note, "Read this now." Being Indie by Eeva Lancaster, AKA The Book Khaleesi, was that book.

From writing and editing, to author platform and choosing the right publishing platform, Ms. Lancaster tackles the hot topics in th
