This completely revised edition of the handbook highlights the collections at the new J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center, including the newest acquisitions. Three hundred works are reproduced, each with information about content and style, to help enhance appreciation and insight for the general reader and museum visitor alike. An introduction by Museum Director John Walsh traces the fascinating history of the Museum through its move to its new location at the Getty Center.
I rather loved this and I've now got The Getty on my list of places to visit when I return to California some day. I really appreciated the brief yet interesting descriptions and background information of the pieces in the museum, and even found myself reading about antique furniture, which I normally would not do. Beautiful, clear color photos throughout. Highly recommend.
