Full disclosure, I was lucky enough to be a beta reader for this book. The story of this book happens along the same time frame of Chivalry, Higgins first book. This is the story of Candy. She grew up surrounded by drugs and people who made bad choices. Her best friend gets kidnapped and in a moment of panic runs away from it all. Unfortunately Candy doesn't can't seem to get away from all the negativity until she meets a kind man who seems to be someone who will finally take care of her. But is ...more

Wounds Into Wisdom left me emotionally spent in the best possible way. This was a moving yet beautiful portrayal of a young woman who is carving out her own path in a world that is determined to give her a one-two punch every chance it gets. But the story isn't a melodramatic put me in coach type of feel-good tale. It is a narrative so tightly woven that each minute funnels you into the next one and before you know you may or may not have burned the baked potatoes. I'll admit to nothing...

A great read! Wounds into Wisdom is a parallel sequel to “Chivalry", an earlier novel by Kristie Higgins. What I loved most about it was the way the author handled some really sensitive, but very real life, subjects. It focuses on the world of horse racing, but so much more than that in what the characters are going through both physically and emotionally. I also enjoyed the historical time frame, 1969. The author clearly did her research. I was hooked from page one! I look forward to Book 3 in ...more

This second book is as good as the first. I had a hard time putting it down.

Candy was in turmoil when she left NY. Finding her way to all the wrong men. Can she escape her latest crazy man! I was rooting for her freedom. Love the story line. Can't wait for the next book.

I just finished book two in this series, I was so hooked it only took me two days. I love how the author used this book to help fill in some blanks from the last book. So many things happen in this book, there is emotional abuse and physical abuse, the way this author writes about these serious matters you can tell she has done her research. Plus those are topics people do not really like to talk about. It is such a big part of the book. But it teaches the character to be strong and to stand up ...more

This is the story of what happens to a woman who goes into a relationship with the wrong man. She already was surrounded by drugs and bad luck all her life, but she still tries to start a new life. As it often happens, she ends up once again in an abusive relationship. It is not safe for her to live with him, but she is too afraid to face him or run away. The man even tries to change his behavior, but it does not last long. He blames her for his "cravings". The book is an absorbing drama well wr ...more
