This book!

Perfect!

I'm taking a wee break from the old novels lately, and reading a lot of comics and, surprisingly, children's books. How long has it been since you read a children's book? Ages? Then you should definitely be picking this one up for a look.

I adore that this book deals with grief. In subjects that people find so difficult to talk about, particularly to children, I love that this boo

This beautifully written and illustrated book is a bit...sad to recommend as it is about a very young girl who has to come to terms with her mother dying. Death is difficult to comprehend as an adult so imagine trying to explain it to a child - and not scare them

Everywhere and All Around was a gorgeous book. As an art aficionado, I loved the illustrations.

The book begins with Yolanda’s mum passing away. Little Yolanda, innocent, naïve and inquisitive, wishes to talk to her mother. She misses her mama. Unable to comprehend the concept of her mom’s death, and inquisitive to know where she has gone, she goes to her family and friends of her mothe

I thought this was a sad story about a young girl who's mother has died. This is not a book that I would have as regular reading in my house, but I believe it would be immensely useful to help children continue to feel connected to loved ones who have passed away.

I went ahead and read this book to my five year old anyway, to get her thoughts, and she said it was a good book. She didn't like the part where the stuff

First and foremost, the illustrations are breathtaking. So much beauty and elegance...
Second, the idea of the book is to explain death of a close relative to a child. Which is very challenging and sometimes impossible. But I think children do have a stronger drive to survival and their search for answer is in fact their need to close an understanding deal with the world. Keep talking about the dear one, look around to find the memories left and even the little presents. Death is part of life too

Heel mooi boek.

'Everywhere and All Around' by Pimm van Hest with illustrations by Sassafras De Bruyn is a touching, beautiful book for a child that has lost a parent.

Yolanda's mother has died. Yolanda was with her and held her hand as it grew colder. Now she wants to know where her mom could be. She asks family and friends of her mother, and they each provide their answer to where Yolanda's mother is. Things like "mom is in stories, and in stories is mom" and Mom is Yolanda and Yolanda is Mom."

Beautifully illustrated children's book that tugged at my heartstrings and made me feel a gratitude toward the author for putting his pen to paper. Wow! This was a touching story about a little girl, Yolanda, who has just lost her mom. Written in a poetic tone, it inspires hope. I gave this story four stars, but think the writing is more of a three. It's good, but nothing special. The reason I gave it four was for the beautiful artwork, and for the heavy subject matter. Written for children 5 and up, I can relate to the need for books helping children understand deat

The real highlights of this little children's novel about grief are the gorgeous illustrations. They are absolutely stunning and alone make this book worth taking a look at. The story, however, wasn't as strong. Not bad, but repetitive to a fault, the "point" already felt hammered home halfway through the book. Sweet little message, though.

This is not a book for storytime. However, it is still important. Dealing with the death of a loved one is not easy. Adults can barely handle it, how can we expect children to do so. Yolanda has one simple question, Where is Mom? She knows her mother has died, but where did she go. A touching book that helps explain that mom is everywhere.

The illustrations are beautiful, as is the concept. Yolanda's mother has died and she sets out to find her, asking others where they think she is now. As Yolanda finds different answers--in nature, in stories, in herself--healing comes.
This would be an excellent book to share with grieving children--or even grieving adults.
