Duplicate paragraphs, wrong chapter titles at the bottom of the page, more of a personal story than dealing with witchcraft until the very end of the book.
Not for me. Sorry.

I enjoyed reading this, in spite of the numerous typos and the one or two duplicated paragraphs. This is essentially self-published by 7th House, and those sorts of issues are typical in independent press releases. The Primer is one of the few books that I have used a highlighter in; there's a lot of good information here. There is also a bit of author bias, the same as any other witch book, but I think that even if you disagree with some of Victoria's views, you will still pick up something that will prove useful in your practice. I had to read it once, set it aside and let everything sink in, then pick it up again a few months later and re-read.

I also use 7th House's Seasons of the Witch Planner, and while I don't think having the Primer is necessary to use the Planner, I don't think it hurts, either. I've gotten some good ideas for workings by using both. It takes the guesswork out of judging the proper timing for certain types of spells. I'm a busy witch; I will take shortcuts if they work!

I think the Primer would be especially beneficial to newer witches and Wiccans who are past the beginning stage and want to expand their practice. Danann offers a very solid, commonsense theory of how magick works. I can recommend it without reservations. I also love her spell checklist. I've read lots of other books with checklists and sample record sheets for spells and rituals, and I've used all that I've found, but hers has been the most thorough and useful. She will make you look at factors that you previously didn't give a second thought. Even if you dislike this book immensely, take the checklist and add it to your record keeping system. You can only benefit from using it.

This is another of the reference books you can find in my library. It goes perfect with the seasons of the witch calender that comes out each year.
