WTF Are You Reading?

Secrets...secrets...secrets...oh my!
The beautiful young Miss Peppiwell of Boston is causing quite an uproar among the young men of English society.
Named the "Ice Maiden" due to the cool and aloof countenance she has adopted as her trademark; she seems quite the unattainable prize to those who would try to win her.
Lord Anthony Thornton's smoldering gaze and molten touch manages to not only de-ice the seemingly frigid "Ice Maiden", but ignites a fiery passion in her that proves too overpow

I received an ARC of this book free from the author and netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my… It’s been a while since I’ve read historical romance. This one’s a real treat, so thank you Miss Stacy Reid for the ARC!

First of all, I’d like to say that this book has a beautiful cover! Whoa, look at that. The girl is so lovely. She’s exactly what I’ve imagined of Phillipa. :)

This book, by the way, comes in a very passionate tale… and it’s one with a scorching hot romantic plot! The story
Loved it! I enjoyed the first book The Duke's Shotgun Wedding and this one did not disappoint. I loved the flow of the story, and how quickly I became invested in the characters.

I adored Anthony. He was sweet, charming, but with that edginess of an alpha male and definitely sexy. He made the story came alive for me and kept me hooked. He wasn't your typical male that had tons of mistresses and did not want a wife.He actually wanted a family, but had a scandal in his closet that could affect his
Pretty good.....

I really like this author, but I found my mind wandering a tad thru this book. I was kinda meh.....about the heroine. But I loved Anthony.

I swoon for the blondes, they’re so rare and I have a Viking fetish. Ha!

But he was really a great, kind, sexy Lord. I was very undecided if I thought she was right for him throughout the book. She seemed too modern. They seemed at very opposing views on marriage.

He really wanted it based on his birth and all she wanted to do was travel the worl

Review of The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell by Stacy Reid Story is good and all the characters, especially Phillipa, are likable. She is strong, passionate and adventurous, which makes her a perfect female lead character in my humble opinion. I also liked the fact that the book was well paced and kept me entertained until the very end. I recommend it to all historical romance lovers. It's a must read novel.Lord Anthony is looking for a bride and Miss Peppiwell is not interested in marriage. But th ...more

I thought this was a really well done novel. The lead characters, Anthony and Phillipa, are well-drawn, enjoyable characters. Anthony is definitely an alpha male, but with a bit of a sensitive side, and he and Phillipa have great chemistry through out. Phillipa is a strong female lead who's both adventurous and passionate-a perfect match for Anthony. 4.5 stars. Recommended.
First of all, is this supposed to be the first or the second book in the Calydon series? Because it makes more sense for this one to be the first book than "The Duke's Shotgun Wedding".

This is in a way an easy short read. At first i was a bit apprehensive about the story as the girl, Phillipa Peppiwell, beautiful, rich but cold, complete with short uninteresting responses, blank uninterested looks, etc. she's trying to make herself be as unattractive as possible so that men do not want

Continuing on the heels of her successful debut novella The Duke's Shotgun Wedding, this highly entertaining historical romance is the story of Anthony (brother to the hero in the aforementioned story)and Phillipa. Phillipa is the daughter of a wealthy Boston merchant who has moved the family to London to find a husband for her in the wake of a sex scandal in which she was involved. There she meets Anthony, a wealthy and titled man who sees beyond her icy façade and finds the passion Phillipa tr ...more

Let me just say when I finished The Duke's Shotgun Wedding, book 1 in the House of Calydon series, I immediately friend-ed Stacy Reid on FB and messaged her about how much I LOVED the novella and asked when the next book was coming out. Because I needed it like five minutes before I reached the last page. So that'll just give you a clue about how much I was looking forward to her full length novel about Sebastian's brother Anthony. And I so wasn't disappointed. Actually, it exceeded what I imagi ...more

A charming, sweet, and utterly enjoyable historical romance, The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell was simply lovely. I really liked this fabulous book.

Phillipa was a likable heroine. She was an independently minded person who chafed against the confines of society. She wanted to travel the world to get away from those rules, but once she met Anthony, she was clever enough to realize that that wasn't the only way to find freedom. I thought she was a lovely character

Anthony was wonderful. Very sweet an

I really loved this book. It was given to me as a gift. The story had a great flow. It was steamy hot! This is the second book of this author I have read and I love her style of writing.

Anthony Thornton is from a very powerful family. He is at the point in his life where he wants something more significant in it. At a ball, he comes across a woman who has been dubbed The Ice Maiden. She is deeply intriguing to him.

Miss Phillipa Peppiwell is an American heiress who now lives in London. Her famil

OMG, literally just finished this and I need more!!! I first started it because I'm working on the Scandalous line and I love Stacy but it literally sucked me in within the first chapter. I couldn't put this book down and it drove me crazy that my kids Frozen movie night at school started when I had just 15 minutes left in the book! I was so tempted to sneak out and finish it but restrained myself until we got home.

I loved Anthony and found his character to be refreshing in that he wasn't dead

OH EM GEE. Ms. Reid just shot to the top of my auto-buy list. Phillipa Pippiwell may be the ice queen, but all that cold turns to blistering HAWT steam when the delicious Anthony Thornton gets his hands in all the right places. The writing here is exquisite--and I don't mean overwritten, but with each word beautifully placed on the page. The plot is fresh and original, with definite twists on the usual scenarios of the era making for a truly exciting read. I found I held my breath more than once ...more

A sensual and decadent read, The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell delivers an intoxicating blend of sweet and sexy romance that made me unable to put this book down. Lord Anthony was the perfect alpha-hero, a delicious embodiment of raw sexuality that instantly drew me in to the story. Like fire and ice, the hero and heroine clashed, and I adored discovering the little secrets that kept them apart.

The writing was superb--Miss Reid's rich descriptions making an already vibrant story a lush, hot treat

It's so refreshing to find a historical romance that comes loaded with hot scenes and passion. The Irresistible Miss Peppinwell is about a woman who defies society's conventions in her pursuit of freedom, and a man who seeks exactly that to feel fulfilled.

It's a very entertaining read thanks to:

- the lady's aloofness poses a challenge for the gentleman who coaxes her inner fire in the most ardent and delicious manner

- she's not shy about desires of the flesh which is a welcomed change in the usu

As much as I adore historical romances, there two things I despise: the low opinion society had of women who weren’t “pure”, and the low treatment of children born as bastards.

That being said, I liked this book. *chuckles* It’s because of those two aspects that I like this book. Phillipa doesn’t give a damn about society, its rules, or what’s expected of her. Her icy persona hides a heart filled with desire, a mind overflowing with dreams, and a spirit that won’t bend without a fight. But it als

*** I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. ***

I have a very strong and abiding love for smart, capable heroines in romance novels, and Phillipa Peppiwell is exactly that. An American who came to England with her family, she finds she doesn't fit in, but also isn't interested in standing least not by the standards of the English ton. That's because she enjoys life and lives it to the fullest, while London Society expects her to be demure and reserved. In resp

The strict rules of propriety play an important part in this story. Lord Anthony Thornton just learned that he and his sister are illegitimate. Both will be cast out by their peers if their secret is revealed. When Anthony meets Miss Phillipa Peppiwell, he is attracted by her. He has met a kindred spirit and the love of his life. She wants to break free of her restraints and have adventures, but she has a secret that she needs to protect. She is not a virgin. Will these two be able to find happi ...more

The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell by Stacy Reid was an interesting mix of common concepts and English Society of old.

Miss Peppiwell is the Ice Maiden. She does not speak to anyone, and does not let men call on her. She ignores everyone because she does not want to wed.

Lord Anthony is intrigued by this Ice Maiden of society and is out to crack the ice and see what is underneath.

They both discover that you can have a pleasant time without having to include marriage in the bargain. However Miss Pe

I am so sorry becasue I really wanted to like The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell, but it wasn't to be. I really didn't like the way Phillpa Peppiwell's character was written. I started skimming pages just to finish it. That's never a good thing. I never understood Lord Anthony's obsession with this ruined young lady. Who didn't seem to mine that she had been completely and utter ruined. I felt sorry that she was so foolish with her virtue, but thats about it. I gave the sto

This is part of the House of Calydon series.

Phillipa Pippiwell is known as the Ice Maiden, but that doesn't stop Lord Anthony Thornton from being intrigued. Phillipa has no desire to marry and is doing her best to keep her suitors away, but Anthony sees something other than the chilly reception she gives most of the ton.

Having made the decision that he must marry, Anthony doesn't want to settle for some simpering you miss. But can he convince Phillipa that marriage to him would be better than l

Ms Reid has penned a fast paced, sensual and a thoroughly entertaining read here. Anthony is a great hero - rakish but not averse to marriage and family, and bedroom tastes which spice up the pages. He is well matched by Phillipa, a strong and independant miss with a past. I particularly enjoyed their chemistry and desire to be together despite some pretty big roadblocks along the way (including a dastardly villain.)

Another strong area of Ms Reid's writing is her support cast. With snippets of A

Lord Anthony Thornton has a huge secret also. No lady of the haute ton will accept him either. I love how Anthony melts Miss Phillipa's exterior hard shell. You can't help but love how Anthony always saves Miss Phillipa. It is great to get the backstory about Lady Jocelyn Rathbourne mentioned in the book "The Duke's Shotgun Wed ...more

Irresistible Passion
The Victorian romp, “The Irresistible Miss Peppiwell,” by Stacy Reid is a delight. It dwells on the importance of reputation within society and how the parents’ sins can be visited on their children. Her heroine Phillipa Peppiwell who is disaffected by society’s hypocrisy finds in Lord Anthony Thornton, the soul-mate she desires. Can their love and passion survive the vicissitudes of society’s changeable opinions and allow their happiness to reach fruition? Stacy Reid’s writi

The Irrestiable Miss Peppiwell was just that irresistible. I adore this author and her writings . She is thirsty and quickly becoming my favorite with these stories . The heroine for me was too quirky and not my cup of tea but I adored the hero. It was so cute and like-able, you can tell he loved her to the fullest extent.

I wont say I did not have some issues with the story namely the heroine, I could not understand her choices and the

I love a good regency...especially when the heroine is not a pushover and a pushover Miss Peppiwell was NOT. I adore a regency hero who thinks he wants a specific type of "wife" but in the end chooses someone completely opposite who really fits him. Both Anthony and Phillipa had a different type of "family" drama but it turned them both into strong characters who decided in the end that love and happiness is what matters and not succumbing to pressure from outside forces. I enjoyed the first book but as I thought, once space was given to really flesh out the plot and characters, we got some great storytelling in this one. We get some more background on Sebastian and Jocelyn since this is somewhat of a prequel, which is great. Loved Anthony and Phillipa. Phillipa especially since she's not the usual type of romance heroine. I also loved how some topics and details weren't writing in the typical recency romance style.
